After checking for a contractor's license number, their number of years experience, and reading several customer reviews, I called Ever-Ready Electric and spoke to Anna about the work I needed to have done. It included replacement of a faulty GFCI outlet (impacting the kitchen and dining room), and a check up on our outdoor landscape lights. Cody called me soon after I had spoken to Anna, to confirm an arrival time of about 35 minutes. Cody arrived right on time and we proceeded through the house explaining each of the "problems", as Cody took notes along the way. Within the hour, Cody had addressed all of the problems we had discussed, and presented me with a very reasonable invoice for his work. First off, let me preface this review by saying that everyone I have dealt with at Ever-Read has been really pleasant and professional. I have no complaints whatsoever about the service. I do, however, have a complaint about their pricing/estimating practices. When I first called for an appointment, I was told that there would be a $69.00 fee for them to come out and diagnose the problem. No worries, that seemed totally reasonable. At the scheduled time, the electrician arrives promptly. He is very pleasant. I describe the problem: a light fixture in a spare bathroom is no longer working. He goes in and briefly glances at the situation. He then comes out and tells me that it will be $360.00 for him to do a "Level 1" diagnostic, and most likely he'll be to fix the problem after that, but if not there may be additional expense. So I ask if $360 is to diagnose the problem or to fix the problem? He says it's to diagnose the problem, but he will probably be able to fix it. At this point I want to get it done, so I say go ahead. He get his tools, spends about 10 minutes and fixes it. Again, very professional. He then presents me with the bill for $429.00, which is the $69.00 visit fee plus $360.00 "diagnostic fee". I'm more than a little confused what the initial $69.00 was for. Bottom line, if they had come out, diagnosed the problem, charged me $69.00, and then told me it would be $360.00 to fix the problem, I wouldn't have been bothered as much. But the way the situation unfolded seemed a bit "scammy". Further, it seems if you opt to have the work done, they would drop the initial $69.00 visit fee (other services seem to do this standard). Anyway, it's fixed. Just not the best experience I've had. read more

I was considering the repair or replacement of old fluorescent fixtures in the kitchen's recessed ceiling. The technician explained the options and I decided that installing LED tubes, with the ballasts bypassed/removed to be the best. The conversion was a fast process. Bad experience. I scheduled my appointment at least a week ahead, was told they would be here between 12-2 so took that time off work. Didn't hear from them, I called to see if we were still on and they said it would be more like 2:30-4. They've wasted the majority of my day, not willing to give them more time. read more

Couldn't see how they actually work because I told them to leave. A lady on the phone informed me that there's $59 service fee for them to go to my property and give me an estimate. After they got to the house we signed $59 service charge and after that the guy said there's $460 upfront diagnostic fee? Which doesn't go towards a repair or parts, and they charge $170 an hour an addition of diagnostic and service fee. So I payed $59 and told them to leave. So I think that's what they do, just driving around and collecting $59 service fee. read more

In years past Ever-Ready had served me very well. So when I called for an electrical problem I was amazed at the bad service I received this time. I had to spend thousands of dollars to get some lights going, requiring three visits that ended up with very large holes hacked into my walls, left for me to fix. They replaced a breaker and charged me $250 for the breaker, saying the "postage" was what made it so expensive. I don't like to cause any business a problem, but I felt that this was beyond reasonable and will never use them again. Beware! read more

Had a technician come out to the house today to troubleshoot a electrical problem. Several outlets weren't working. Technician was very nice, seemed competent. Explained his company's pricing. $59 to show up at your door. For me $454 to diagnose the electrical problem. Took approximately 4.5 hours to find the problem, which was a fair amount of time. We had to move some furniture away from the walls and move other items. Couldn't find the burnt outlet right off so the tech thought maybe it might be in the wiring in the overhead ceiling. So he gained access to the attic through a ceiling panel. After a short amount of time he determined the problem wasn't up there. After further troubleshooting as I stated above he found the problem. So the diagnosis was over. At that time he explained to me that the diagnosis cost did not cover the repair cost. A additional fee of $150-250 to replace a GFI outlet in the bathroom that was not up to code and a electrical outlet in my daughters room Which was the culprit of all my problems. I thought that $150-250 was a ridiculous price to pay for the replacement of two outlets. So I did it myself. Again I thought the technician was very nice and competent. But at the end of the job he was in a hurry to leave and forgot to do a few things. Close up the overhead attic panel and put the cover down and over The outdoor circuit breaker panel. Would I hire this company to do any further electrical jobs for me in the future? Maybe, but probably not. This company kind of fools you by thinking that a fixed price to find the problem over an hourly rate will save you some money. They kill you with the actual repair cost. So add that up with the show up at your door fee plus diagnosis fees. Adds up to lots of $$$. Next time I'll just pay the hourly fee and get it all done. I will do more research with other replicable electric companies out there in the future. read more

RIP OFF ARTISTS! These people were called by my tenant (since I was out of town) because her electricity was out & it was cold! Some flunky from this company went out & reset the junction box & charged $370.75!!! Call out on Saturday $321.75 plus service charge $49.00 - nothing was fix, no materials involved -NOTHING! Called Frank to get explanation of bill & he said they charge 2 hour minimum & time & a half for weekends. So I asked what their hourly rate is & he said it didn't matter - REALLY!!! Wouldn't you know I had to call out my electrician & he replaced a circuit - fixed for $147.00 This qualifies for small claims. WORST SERVICE EVER! read more
