Started with an order of vegetable pot stickers. Not very good. Tasted like frozen store bought pot stickers that were microwaved. Sauce was supposed to be a Michigan Cherry but tasted like an Asian Zing..I would not recommend these. For our Ramen bowls we tried the Rotisserie Chicken and Blackened Tiger Shrimp. Both were flavorful but the shrimp were very small and the chicken very mushy. They offer a full and half size bowl. Also tried their BiBamBap with Pork Belly. Kimchi was a little too spicy to our liking. Many gluten free options available. If you are looking for something different for take out,give them a try. read more

With a 6 hour drive behind me and four hours of pre-course videos ahead of me, I simply wanted good, easy takeout to bring back to my hotel room. Electric Ramen won the Yelp search. They did offer delivery - but I skipped the door dash because those delivery fees - wow - and drove the couple of miles down the road to pick up my rice bowl and dumplings. Don't judge - I was hungry! My rice bowl was pretty good. I would have loved to see a bit more sauce/flavor and ended up using the sauce that came with dumplings to give it some pizzazz. The dumplings were good, but would have been better with a quick browning and maybe a bit more salt in the filling. All in all though - this is not a huge town and it's great to have a different quick option from fast food. I really hate giving bad reviews, but I really question these five star reviews here. Not much more to be said about the food that hasn't already been said...a properly prepared pork belly shouldn't be rubbery. A colorful bowl of ramen should also be flavorful, this was not, the seaweed salad and bao buns were ok. The service was good, the place was clean, and that's about it for the positives. I spent $41, tip included for two pork belly bao buns, a seaweed salad and half order of the Korean bbq pork belly ramen. I do not feel like I got a $41 experience today. read more

A friend raved about this place and I'm not sure why. My husband had the Korean BBQ Beef Ramen. The broth had a good flavor but the pork belly was rubbery. I had the Sesame and Wild Mushroom Rice Bowl. This dish was flavorless. A bunch of unseasoned jasmine rice with mushrooms and bamboo shoots. There were no bean sprouts like there was supposed to be and very little bok choy. Dish was also supposed to have truffle oil, but not sure it was on there because I never tasted any. But this place is a hidden gem in howell, off of grand river. cute restaurant front & inside decor. Got the wild mushroom bao, and two half bowls of Korean BBQ pork and Kobe beef short rib. I'm just not ok with paying $30 for two meals, mine tasting like I was licking a salt block. I also have a high tolerance, in fact I prefer spice, but I think the combo of medium spicy and salt got me. I tried the lime to hoping it would help but nope. Electric Ramen is my new favorite restaurant in town. It's great to have a well-rounded chef that has a keen interest and strong intuition on flavor fusions. So far I have had a couple of the ramen dishes, a rice bowl, and a chef special sandwich (which was the grilled cheese with bacon, kimchi, and a dipping sauce) and I have been really impressed with all of it. Chef Mark is really nice too. I asked him about how he came to opening a ramen shop in Howell MI and he told me about his background and culinary interests. This is the type of place Howell has been needing. They definitely have a different twist on ramen. Bold flavors with the broth and the meat here. I got the Korean BBQ Pork Belly ramen. It had some good flavors but all around was way too salty to fully enjoy. The pork was incredible tho! Super fast service and convenient location in Howell. Just wish there was a better ambience inside so I could've dined in. I guess if you don't know what certain types of broth tastes like, you won't be disappointed. I got the half bowl of Kobe Beef Short Ribs with Pho broth. It was NOT pho broth. Not even close. It also came with ramen noodles (as per the name of the restaurant) that were not cooked all the way all for the price of $8.50. The meat was also cut into thin strips and was mostly fat, so I didn't even eat it. As for the decor, it needs some work. The floors need to be swept and the tiles fixed. Could use a paint job and a deep clean - the walls in the open kitchen area are yellow. Overall, I wasn't impressed. read more

We have been eyeing out this restaurant for a few months and finally decided to try it tonight. Sadly it was extremely disappointing. I am a huge ramen fan and have had quite a few different types....this place just didn't live up to the hype. I previously seen that someone posted about it being under seasoned and bland, our ramen was so SALTY it was not even edible. I spent almost $50 and none of it was remotely tasty or edible. I have never in my life tasted something so over salted it was just horrible. I'm not sure it if was just a fluke and a bad meal or what but I don't plan on returning. I'm sad because I had high hopes for this ramen shop! The dumplings were also bland and over cooked and stale, the sauce was no good either. I had the chicken miso ramen and it was delicious. The ahi tuna slider was also good. The flavor combo with the tuna, the wasabi, and the pineapple work really well together (tho if it was on a kings Hawaiian bun it'd have been even better imo). Okay, let me get my credentials out there first, I am a very picky eater and hardly try anything new and I am also from KY- we come up to this area 3 times a year for my son to receive therapy locally. So last time came up I noticed this place and was intrigued- so tonight I decided to get few bowls and try. I got the Shrimp Ramen with house noodles- I also got a duck (yes a duck) ramen with house noodles also- lastly I got chicken with udon noodle bowl. Now first since I am picky- I chose to try the chicken bowl first- at first bite I was really surprised- the taste and flavor was unique and broth was delicious. The second one I tried was the Shrimp bowl and this one had a very unique flavor and oddly was refreshing- could have done without the pineapple, but this was good as well- not close to me to the first one, but good. Lastly, I tried the duck bowl- now this was my only bowl I couldn't or wouldn't eat, but this is more that as soon I took a bite, I got a big gamey taste and just couldn't do it- so thats prolly more me than the bowl. I will be visiting one more time before we leave and get chicken bowl again and try prolly the short rib one. So for me - as I rated it- it was good.. I didnt go in- so cant comment on how looked inside- but pleasantly surprised by this . read more
