Rental was quick and easy, taking maybe two minutes. This shop is priced just a bit higher than the older bike rental (the one adjacent to mini-golf), but the Wheel Fun folks are nicer, quicker, and easier to deal with (the other shop has an old guy who will try to talk you OUT of renting a surrey!). By the way, the double-surrey is huge fun. It's not hard to pedal or drive at all. My family has done this two years in a row now. It's a great way to see the island.

We tried to book 3 golf carts with Orion, but they only had two.  They misunderstood my email telling them I needed three and delivered only two. They then reneged on their offer and charged us for the full week!  USE SEASIDE!

We were able to get up close and personal to the airport and see and hear the planes take off right over our heads-very cool! We did ask for a map twice after reading that there are twenty miles of bike paths and they explained that the "bike paths" are sidewalks throughout the island. While that may be the case, it would have been nice to have a paper guide or app to show us the different options. You could ride on the beach, in parks through neighborhoods, etc. but it would have been nice to have an idea of which way to go depending on what we wanted to see. Overall, I highly recommend biking as a beautiful way to see the island!

The main attraction here is to do the long hike to the ruins at the northernmost tip of the preserve. I was never given a clear answer about how many miles the hike is, I was just told it would probably take an hour each way to hike it, and they do not allow anyone access to attempt the hike past 1pm, to assure they've returned before close. You may bike it, something I wasn't told. That would've gone a lot faster and I'd have made it with my toddler! Next time. I did do a large portion of the trail, but I skipped the side trails in my attempt to reach the ruins. When I finally gave up, I did take a side path to a hammock of live oaks, and it was such a beautiful canopy! Like an arboreal cathedral! I posted a video of the birdsong here, OMG, it is crazy! Birds friggin' love this place! My dogs had fun exploring, but I don't think there was a lot of wildlife other than birds, because my dogs will usually get excited for anything and they didn't do that the whole walk. The bush here is so thick, I guess the fauna kept well hidden. This is a beautiful sanctuary, which is wonderful on the very built up island of SSI. Thank God for St Simons Trust!

Jamie was helpful in booking the last minute tour by text and Jim was an awesome guide when we got to touring! Jim was full of local knowledge and helped us spot manatees, dolphins, a bonnet shark catching some unsuspecting fish, storks, spoonbills and all kinds of other stuff, all in 2hrs! Maybe my butt isn't tough enough, but 2hrs was plenty. We'd looked into 3hr tours, which would've put a dent in our weekend and my butt. Anyway, they were really responsive to messages and the tour was as fun as we ever could've expected. Highly recommend TTJ!

The good - our guide, David, was knowledgable and friendly. However, when he finally began our tour…read morethirty minutes after it was supposed to start, he did not give any kind of overview of what we were going to attempt to see and where we were hoping to see them. It would have been nice if he had started with "we are going to start by going upriver and looking for the manatee. When we get there, look for ______. Then we will go to the marsh creeks and look for birds such as ______, _____, and ______. We will then cross the channel and see if we can spot the bonnet-head sharks." We went and did all of these things, but it would have been nice to have an introduction in advance so that we could have anticipated our experience and been better able to ask good questions. The bad - Due to a failure of the owner, Jamie, to check the time of sunrise, she scheduled our tour to begin before sunrise which is not permitted. She also told us to arrive a little early to fit PFDs. The result was that my wife and I were waiting in the dark for 40 minutes before our guide arrived. Very unprofessional! What were we offered for the inconvenience of our wait in the dark? Half off? Twenty percent refund? Nope! Just two hollow sounding apologies where both David and Jamie tried to lay the blame on the other. As a frequent traveller who tries to pack in as much as possible during a vacation, I recommend to all of my fellow outdoor lovers to go with the competition who hopefully will value your time more than Turtle Tides apparently does.

The equipment and lanes are clearly well cared for, with excellent ventilation and spacious design. The overall environment is clean and orderly. The staff deserve special praise -- everyone I encountered was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely helpful. This is a family business and they welcome you as a family would. The on-site food is quite good. I tried a few items and everything was fresh and flavorful, but the highlight was definitely the protein squares. They're dense, tasty, perfectly portioned, and ideal for a quick, satisfying boost. It also makes for a good study spot if you need a break. If you're in Brunswick (especially for 3 to 6 or so months--they have a membership for that), friendly place with great amenities and unexpectedly good bites (don't miss the protein squares!), The Facility is well worth it Highly recommended!
