The boats are super easy to navigate with the steering wheel and quite comfortably fits two people. The seats are easily adjustable so if you are super tall or super short you will be fine. The first time I got a pedal boat I did not know if this added feature! I would recommend getting the boat for about an hour at least so you can enjoy and take in the amazing view! The prices are reasonable! They even offer lockers for you to put your stuff in free of charge if you do not want to risk them getting wet. Definitely put this at the top of your list if you are visiting or even if you live in hamburg.

The tour itself is really interesting and this part of Hamburg is beautiful. I found this boat tour to be more interesting than the harbor tour. Buy tickets at the booth before you get down to the boats!

They used a little boat called the Advocat, and gave us a good one hour tour of the harbour and southern canals. I've been on other boat tours before, but this was he best one yet in Hamburg. They also laid on drinks for us on the boat. After touring around Wilhelmsburg for a while we stopped at a beer garden for some food (see my review of Zum Anleger (http://www.qype.co.uk/place/169353-Zum-Anleger-Hamburg) ). On the way back we used an open-top bus - which I was really looking forward to. Sadly there was a huge thunderstorm, so it became merely a ride home rather than something fun.

Given that I am a native English speaker and still consider my German to be so-so, I was a bit apprehensive about signing up for a sailing course since the end-goal is obviously to pass both the written and practical exam to receive one's sailing license. Needless to say, my convinced me to give it a shot and I'm glad that I did. The Prusse staff was extremely accommodating and would explain things in English if I was a bit uncertain about the German explanation. In the end, I passed both the practical and written exam and now am a proud holder of a sailing license in Germany. Almost nobody fails the practical exam as it's recommended that you complete 40 hours of sailing before taking the exam, but quite a few people do not pass the written exam. My words of advice- buy the book that Prusse offers! After spending so much on the sailing course, don't skimp out on buying the textbook for an additional 30 euro. It's completely necessary! They changed the format of the exam to all multiple choice, which I was beyond excited about. You're notified right after taking the exam if you've passed or failed.

The ticket guy thought we were tourists so offered us a discount on the German tour that was leaving in a few mins :-) I said nothing and took the discount ha ha ha The guide was also the boat captain and was very funny and informative. Took us for a good ride around the harbour and explained everything. Not a bad choice for a boat tour. They have smaller boats for about 30 odd people and they leave from pier 1 or 2 I believe. I would highly recommend you do a boat tour as it's a great way to see the city from the water.

From start to finish, the people working there were extremely rude and seemed annoyed when we asked simple things like where the paddles are. Also, the canoes themselves are heavy and difficult to steer with on the water. And for a price of 16 euros per hour, it was way too expensive. In the future, I'll only rent from Dornheim. Nicer service, easier boots, and cheaper!
