I read about the fair at FairsandFestivals.net, 79th year, voted one of the 10 Great Places for Blue Ribbon County Fairs in USA Today 2011, so you would think it would be worth the 2 hour drive from Atlanta. It's NOT! It's bad food and carnival rides in a big parking lot. The permanent buildings have a few poorly presented agriculture displays. The animal display, billed as an "exotic petting zoo" are a bunch of chickens in cages, a duck and some rabbits in a small smelly barn. The scheduled shows were out in the hot sun and sparsely scheduled. Nothing here to see that you can't see at any local parking lot carnival. Not worth the drive or effort. I've been to a lot of Georgia fairs, so far they all pale in comparisson to the ones I've been to in the north. Giving up on them for good now, tired of being dissapointed. read more
