What a refreshing change from the sleek, magazine clone salons of central Oxford that charge £40 just for a trim. This does all the usuals (women's cut and blow dry £29) with a discount for students (usually £2-£5) NB: this only applies Tues-Fri. However, what's really exciting is the more unusual stuff they can do: think bright red hair dye, purple streaks, or dreadlocks. Yes, real dreadlocks. They do synthetic ones and natural ones, and remove them as well (hopefully not a sign that you won't like them!). Prices range from £25 for a retouch to £150 for the most expensive synthetic full-head dreadlocks, but there are lots of different options, and with a free consultation you should get a good idea of what's right for you. Maria is hilarious and full of energy--with a little bit of Portuguese sass thrown in there too. She yelled at me like a mother hen telling me not to move, or touch or anything... I genuinely LOVED every moment of it. I was in for a whole head of blonde highlights. White not gold. Maria picked up on this immediately and called me Miss California the entire appointment through. "I know how you California girls like your blonde highlights, I watch Melrose Place." Amazing, hilarious and oh so very true. The end result was gorgeous. The perfect "white" blonde, blended expertly and done as close to the scalp as one can get. Honestly, it's the best colour job I've had in quite some time. I'm so happy with it. Need more good news? The prices are reasonable. Not super cheap not super expensive-- perfect middle of the road prices. They offer student discounts on the weekdays 20%! Just a few hour after this procedure around 18:00 I had a very serious allergic reaction, which resulted in my eyes swelling, redness, extreme pain, and blindness. Due to the extreme pain and inability to open my eyes, 111 send me to the local hospital in Bicester, where the doctor confirmed that the procedure that was done by Strand Nails in Oxford was done in a careless negligeant manner, which resulted in glue getting into my eyes, and causing an allergic reaction. The doctor requested me to go back to Strand Nails asap to have the eye lash extension removed, and to make a complaint, which I did on the 7.8.2018. However, I requested my money back, but this request was denied.
