The office is extremely clean and nicely decorated. There is a TV in the waiting room, as well as bottled water for patients. Ultrasound technicians were amazing. So friendly and personable, and kept me informed during their scans. Even provided me with a disk of all ultrasound photos to update at each appointment. Both Dr. Burstyn and Fickies were wonderful. I saw them both throughout my pregnancy, and Dr. Fickies ended up being on call the day my water broke and performed my C-section. She has a very calm demeanor, but also seemed genuinely excited for us before and after delivery. Dr. Burstyn was at Bellevue every day checking up on me, making sure my incision was healing properly, and also checking up on my babies in the NICU. I cannot say enough great things about this practice, and will continue to visit their office for my annual OBGYN visits.

I never had an issue with PA Haley Decker, but ever since I've seen Dr. Elina Burstyn, all I've had is problems. She considers 120/80 (and close to) as high blood pressure even though it's considered normal. I even talked to my primary care doctor about my blood pressure, and my primary has no concerns at all. Elina Burstyn changed my birth control with no plan in place, changing it only on her opinion that she thought my blood pressure was high, never asking for my opinion or creating a plan to monitor my health. She never explained how the birth control she put me on would affect me. She talked in circles, not being able to explain questions when asked, and acted very offended and rude when asked questions that challenged her opinion or sought out more clarification. Do not go here; you don't deserve to be treated like this. Find a practice that will treat you with kindness, respect, and not medically gaslight you.

When I became pregnant in 2014 I literally did one of those open up a GOOGLE search tab, and make…read morean appointment at the first and nearest place that comes up. That was this place. Also, they had a decent website. So, I called and told them I was preggo and luckily they were seeing new patients. It happens to be like like 3 blocks from where I live and next to the hospital that seemed pretty enough within which to deliver. The first doctor I met with was Dr. Brosnan. I believe he's the head of the practice. I appreciated Dr. Brosnan as he felt like a professor explaining what was going to happen through the next 7ish months and also at delivery. He was super cool about my traveling to Cambodia/Thailand while I was pregnant (which my husband REALLY appreciated). He didn't hand hold and was just a super realist about this whole situation. I didn't see Dr. Brosnan again until after I delivered. (They stress you see every doc in the group). Dr. Vu is who I saw next. I appreciate her frankness and sense of humor and she has actually become my primary OB. She now has to deal with me for the rest of her tenure at this practice which hopefully she takes in stride. The other medical professionals of this group I have little to say about though I know some people who really love Dr. Mosman and the large midwifery team. My absolute favorite though, has to be Dr. Osterdahl. I hope this guy never retires. He has a slightly strange bedside manner which I for one, thought was great. Sometimes he uses the F word in appointments to make you feel more comfortable. Truly, I appreciated that. It's almost like you're talking to a favorite uncle. I can't explain it. I wonder how he ended up as an Ob/Gyn doc I almost feel like he'd be better suited as a mechanic. I guess in some ways docs are mechanics just dealing with uteruses rather than vehicles. Lucky for me, Dr. Osterdahl actually delivered my bundle of joy and kept me laughing the entire time while he did. People complain about the office staff. Ask yourself this question, are you at this place because of the office staff or because of the high level of care you're going to receive from the medical community? I also think expectant moms need to get over themselves. The staff here sees one million of you a day and while you may think that you and your baby are WAY more important than say Kate Middleton's, you're not. The office staff makes your appointments. They aren't going to oggle over your growing belly. That's what YOUR office staff is for. Today, I have a healthy bod, a healthy 4 year old and 5 stars for Albany Obstetrics.

I…read morehave personally experienced her as rude and unprofessional, and I do not feel comfortable having someone with this type of behavior working in a healthcare environment. I have also become aware of serious allegations concerning her alleged drug use and involvement with selling drugs. Because these are serious concerns, I believe they should be investigated by management rather than ignored. I am not making a determination that these allegations are true, but I feel they are concerning enough to report. I hope Albany OBGYN takes this complaint seriously and looks into the situation appropriately. Patients should feel safe, respected, and comfortable around the staff providing their care.

But I would like to complement Dr. Kristine Klein (who had been recommended by my wonderful primary physician Dr. Holly Cleney). Dr. Klein listened to all my concerns and anxieties, counseled me with great patience, and when time was right performed an elective hysterectomy with great results. Her "bedside manner", patience, and woman-to-woman understanding have been very beneficial to me. This has been a very positive experience (after I had fired 2 other GYNs in a different practice). However, the waiting room was awful - I dreaded the long waits, screaming babies, disorder every time I came there.

There seems to be minimal communication between the front desk people and the rest of the world. The receptionists (every one of them so far) are horribly condescending, impatient, and rude. Considering they are the first introduction many people have to this facility, it is a bad representation (you only get one chance to make a good first impression...). Additionally, I have never been on-hold (when I call) for less than 8 minutes. Never. I should state that I'm referring to the Jordan Rd, Troy offices. It was so much better before they moved to this building. Basically, I'm giving only 2-stars because of the reception staff, not the doctors. Although, the nurses call-back could be improved.
