The lovely lady that was working the bar whose name we both already forgot was the warmest, most enthusiastic and positive person you could ever meet! She smiled so much it almost made MY cheeks hurt! She sang along with every song that came on! We had the nachos con res the first visit, and a few of their IPA beers. My favorite was the Mosaic IPA. EXCELLENT beer! The nachos were fantastic, but the two condiments that came with them were REALLY hot!! Consider yourself warned! Also had a freshly made Don Julio Margarita! One of the days, the bar was closed because they were having mechanical issues with the refrigeration system. But the next day we went back and had beef tacos and some more IPA. Again, this lady just made the place vibrant and cheerful. On our final day, we went back and there was a guy working there. This guy never smiled. He was low energy and really should not be working in a position where he deals with the public. Because of his unfriendly demeanor we decided to just have one beer each and go on with our day. Since the order was so small, we decided to just pay cash. This guy tipped himself GENEROUSLY! Let's put it this way. The tacos and I think 5-6 beers cost $53US. He charged us $20US for two beers!! Either way, we had a fantastic vacation, and we will be back as soon as possible!!

A laid back wood fired pizza spot with a super cool, relaxed ambience and the friendliest energy. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and honestly I've never had anything like it. It's insanely good. Pair it with their habanero sauce and jalapeños and it is literally fire. Perfectly cooked, bold flavor, unforgettable. We also ordered the Caprese with apples, almonds, and beets and wow. Such a fresh and different take on a salad. Every ingredient tasted so clean and vibrant. My tummy was genuinely happy after this meal, which says a lot. It's not far from where we're staying near Azulik, which made it even better. The vibe is effortless, chill, and welcoming. Bonus points for the two local cats, who are absolutely adorable and add so much charm to the place. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the menu has so many choices that there is truly something for everyone. If pizza is your love language and you're anywhere near Tulum, Boccanera is a must visit.

We put our name on a list, but no phone number was given so really it's a wait for a table or come back type of situation. We ended up leaving and coming back 40 mins later and were sat quickly outside. The pizzas are OUTSTANDING! I think the reviews all say that and it's the truth. The crust is Neapolitan style thinner crust but the flavor is just spot on! The toppings and sauce are well balanced. The roasted chicken was a great addition to the vegetarian. If they made cheese sticks with a marinara sauce with that crust it would be a HUGE seller! The green salad was pretty standard and not much that was memorable or forgettable, just good and as expected. Unfortunately, the bruschetta was a huge let down -- we literally received halved cherry tomatoes on a piece of bread. They served it with olive oil to drizzle, but that did not even come close to what we expected. There are a few cats that roam the outside patio, but they don't bother you much. The staff was welcoming and we had good conversation with the server even for it being 20 mins before they closed.

The previous night we dined at another recommended, but definitely tourist restaurant and had a wonderful experience. This was just the opposite and I cannot recommend it. We ordered margaritas, a mushroom starter, a tuna entree, and a beef entree. I added a glass a Cabernet Sauvignon. The margaritas were overly sweet. I ordered the beef medium, expecting a warm pink center. I received a very red center. When I asked for it to be cooked a little more the waiter told me that I should have ordered it medium well. He took my plate and we did not see him for another 10-15 minutes. In the meantime, my husband really enjoyed his tuna and I liked the wine. I don't think there is a wine list - I was offered a choice of merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon - no worries - it was good but a very small pour, maybe 4oz. The margaritas were similarly modest. The mushrooms and tuna were good. Overall - it wasn't 100% terrible but I would not go back and cannot recommend.
