Wandering the streets for one last place to hit before calling it a night, we stumbled on El Turkito and decided to give it a shot. After visiting Turkey last summer and spending 136% of my time in hookah/nargile bars, finding El Turkito was a godsend. Unfortunately, this place was pretty crappy. The hookah we had, while it seemed decent enough, was not airtight, no matter how much we tried to fix it, and made smoking incredibly laborious. Not even Lance Armstrong himself has lungs strong enough to get a good tobacco pull.
The wine we had was fine at three Euros, but the Turkish tea was awful. I'm not sure how a Turkish bar run by a bunch of Turkish dudes could mess that up, but they did. To top it off our waiter pretty much ignored us the entire time, choosing instead to tend to every other table there, never coming back for more drink orders or new coals on the hookah. I had to walk into the kitchen to get someone to give us the bill and take our money.
