After one meal here, we understood why. Calle Sol has a cool laid back vibe, great service, strong mojitos, and food that absolutely delivers. The ceviche is the star for a reason. Super fresh with bright flavor, and the crispy plantains alongside it were the perfect seafood fish combo. The skinny spicy margarita with the tajín rim and mojitos were excellent too. Our favorite was the Cuban rice. Rich flavor with this aioli on top that made everyone at the table keep stealing bites from each other. The vaca frita (beef) had great flavor with crispy edges done right, and the banana tres leches dessert was flat out dangerous. Easily enough for three people unless your family has zero self control. We don't really have Cuban food like this back home, so this felt like a treat. Safe to say our daughter picked a winner. We'll definitely be back next trip to Charlotte.

Pisco sour: definitely taste the alcohol. I enjoyed it. A little sweet. Not really sour or I couldn't taste it. Chichamora: spiced drink. Light tangy fruity flavor. Like a light punch. Fried yucca and cheesy: 4 stars. Yummy yucca balls filled with cheeses you have to eat hot for the gooey cheesiness but be careful because the are hot. Make sure to eat with the dip for next level flavor. Shrimp ceviche: 3.5 stars. Different toppings provided different flavors (I.e. crunchy corn, sweet potatoes, salty plaintains chips, & soft corn kernels) texture but I wished there was more shrimp and a slight more acidity or lime juice. Also some of the fried corn kernels were burnt so it had bitter taste. Vaca Frita:Garlic/onion shredded braised beef. 4.5 stars. Came with beans, rice, and yucca mash. Overall the flavors were good and I really enjoyed it.

When I initially visited (in their first couple of months after opening) I was super in love with this place. Unfortunately every experience after that has been super inconsistent. I've ordered their seafood sancocho three times and every single time I've gotten a different dish. The last time I ordered it - it was more so vegetables with 2 teaspoons of broth, some rice and old fried yucca. If you look at the photo - I believe you can tell the yucca looks like it'd been in the fridge for days and they just threw it in there for good measure. The waiter didn't smile and generally looked miserable to have to deal with me. I asked for hot sauce that never came. Just overall, really disappointed in my last experience here and unfortunately won't be retuning due to how inconsistent my last few visits have been. You might get something that tastes decent, you might not.

As the restaurant got busy we saw her less and there was some odd issue with the bill. I loved the decor. I'd go back and try a few other things. The food was good. None of us had a bad bite! I enjoyed the cocktails I must remember to snap pics of the food.

Apps came out quickly and were decent. We were off to a good start. Then it came time to order entrees and things went off the rails. We are primarily English speaking. The staff was primarily Spanish speaking. But because we can point and I have good Spanish pronunciation, this should not have been an issue. It's worked every time before. Much confusion ensued about what we'd ordered. My husband received a salad with NO lettuce when in fact he ordered enchiladas. I ordered a chicken dish that came out correct BUT the chicken was clearly cooked some time ago and reheated and either the cheese or crema on top had gone rancid. Nothing like potential food poisoning! Then, at the end of the night, my husband had to argue to get them to remove the no lettuce salad (that we did not order) from the bill. This was a terrible dining experience.

Nothing about the restaurant is super special or stood out to me. My opinion changed when the food and drinks came out. The presentation and portion size was impressive along with the food being seasoned to perfection. I definitely would come back here or order on DoorDash.

I arrived around 630pm on a Friday and got seated immediately. I had a couple glasses of wine while my friend got beer. We ordered a variety of tacos (shrimp, chicken etc) which came out fast and were a good portion of protein. Overall the ambience was nice although somebody did come in panhandling and was asked to leave shortly after. Value wise it's pretty consistent with the area. Not certain I'd rush back or say that I understand the hype but I'd give it another chance if I were nearby. @azfitfoodfun

I received my chips and salsa and drink, and I ordered some of the white fish tacos. When I received the tacos, the meat was almost all breading- like those little crispy pieces that fall into the fryer, but have no substance. I doubt I had 2 ounces of protein between 2 tacos that cost $15. It's a shame. The flavors were actually good. But what was being passed as fish was ridiculous.
