Who is Freddy? And why didn't I ever know about his cuisine before?…read more
Luckily, the HOA of my neighborhood was able to persuade Freddy's Cuisine to stop by this past weekend. If they didn't, then I would have found my way to them eventually.. somehow someday. It would have happened.
But let's get back to this review!
Freddy's Cuisine offers authentic Latin dishes commonly eaten from Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, etc. It's the real deal. I mean, before moving to Colorado, I lived in South Florida for 20+ years enjoying the bountiful diversity and culture of foods from those countries and more. So yeah, I was excited to try a variety of Latin food in Colorado that isn't just Mexican food. I love Mexican food but it is not the same as some food eaters would assume.
There were plenty of options to choose from especially since it's a food truck. The choices ranged from arepas, empanadas, tostones, pinchos, tortas, and so forth. Plus, they make tropical fruit juices!
Since time was of the essence and I'm only one person. I ordered four items, which were steak arepa la charra, trio (chicken, pork, steak) patacones, yucca fries, and Colombian empanadas. It was too much food.. thankfully, my husband and kids assisted me in finishing it all.
All four items were generously portioned and flavorful especially with the chimichurri sauce and citrus guacamole that laid on top of the arepa la charra and patacones. The savoriness was complimented by the sweet plantains that is found with the arepa la charra. Empanadas and yucca fries are great to snack on alone if you're not looking to get really full.
Price range is $3-$11 per item. Honestly, that's a steal for the amount of food and flavor inside each dish.
I seriously wait for my next opportunity to try Freddy's Cuisine again. Maybe whenever I have family and/or friends in town that crave Latin cuisine. I'd like to try the tropical juices too.. and maybe the other half of the menu. Haha.
