ojo de bife, lomo a la criolla, papas fritas, espárragos gratin (ribeye, Creole sirloin casserole, french fries, asparagus gratin)
    Eric J.

After dining here, I'm a huge fan of El Trapiche. It's an enormous restaurant in the heart of Palermo with heart-stopping portions, and great prices. We were told that El Trapiche was enjoyed by tourists and locals alike, so we gave it a shot for dinner after just getting in to Buenos Aires that night. The inside of the restaurant has dozens of tables, and the place was bustling, even at 11pm at night. I know it's typical in Argentina to have a late dinner, but I didn't expect that huge of a crowd at 11pm. We were still able to get a table, but the vibe was still very active, with a bunch of loud huge celebrations, as well as cozy, intimate dinners. Given that it was the night of Thanksgiving, we decided to go with a very hearty meal, so we ordered the ojo de bife (ribeye), lomo a la criolla (Creole inspired sirloin casserole), fried potatoes, and asparagus au gratin. The ribeye was freakin' enormous, at about 1.5lbs for only AR$220 (USD $17). The ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the sirloin came topped with 5 eggs. Yeah, 5 huge eggs, not to mention, lined with fried potatoes, cheese, and peppers and onions. Whew. Talk about heavy. Nonetheless, we ate it all, and left very little left on our plates, which is what a good Thanksgiving should be. The menu also includes a number of Italian dishes, as well as the usual steak, steak, and more steak. Oh, and fish too. The prices, as previously mentioned, were pretty amazing. We ate very well, with a bottle of Malbec, for less than USD $25 per person. Also, if you happen to pay in cash, you can receive a 10% discount. Not too shabby. The service was very laid back, as is typical with most restaurants in Argentina, but as long as you wave people down, they're usually very attentive. I would definitely come here to eat again, especially if I was craving a big, hearty meal. Seems like a good place for any occasion, and there's just about anything you could want on the menu, so you really can't go wrong.

Prices a little higher than expected.

I think the quality of the steak and reasonable price are a bit overstated for this place. Atmosphere was great and service was nice.

One of my favorite Palermo parrillas by far. Honest and good food at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Hands down one of my favorite experiences while visiting Buenos Aires…read more From the start, the staff was incredibly welcoming and informative. We were greeted with welcome cocktails (we get to mix it ourselves!) plus snacks and wine pairings throughout the meal. The setting was very intimate, and everyone got to interact and participate like a group project while making the empanadas together. (I learned to cut onions correctly..) We learned about the food, some history, and had a great time chatting with fellow guests around us. What I really appreciated was how accommodating they were with dietary restrictions. Whether you're vegetarian or have dairy restrictions like I do, they truly work with you with food substitutes.. When we made empanadas, the chef even prepared a separate dough with olive oil instead of butter for 2 of us that didn't want dairy.. and the desserts were made dairy-free as well. Quite impressive. It felt like a full five-course meal. The hands-on part was making the empanadas, while the chef handled the entrees rest of the way with steaks and veggies. (Don't think anyone was complaining about that). Overall, great food, great conversations with our group and the people around us, and time flew by.. Awesome experience from start to finish. 5/5.

To start, the empanadas are absolutely delicious and I highly recommend them. The menu otherwise was quite rich. We got the Milanesa, and the Ossobuco on polenta. I found the Milanesa to be a touch on the greasier side than I am used to, but it was delicious! And the Ossobuco on polenta was quite rich, especially with the bone marrow - I had a hard time finishing this, but I highly recommend it. The portions are quite large, so sharing dishes is probably not a bad idea. I am also pleasantly surprised by the cocktail scene of Argentina, especially Buenos Aires! There was a spicy version of a Negroni on the menu that the staff warned me about but I kind of took it as "they probably mean it's a strong drink" But NOPE - it is actually spicy! As a spice lover this was really interesting, but not for everyone. The ambiance of the dining area was quite interesting with photographs and memorabilia. If I had one little advice for the restaurant, maybe fix up the bathrooms a little bit. Peron Peron captures the essence of Buenos Aires in a way that may be a bit controversial, but the food is definitely worth the trip!
