First and probably last time eating here. Not authentic Mexican food, bland tasting and over priced. I got the Carne Asada steak tacos and was very disappointed. Three small soft corn tortillas had a pile of raw onions, parsley and tiny pieces of steak that was overcooked and rubbery. No lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, Pico de gallo on the side. This is the place for huge portions and awesome service. I love some good Mexican food and this place doesn't disappoint. At first I was a little put off by the wet table that wasn't quite clean but there was an effort made. The menu was simple and prices were all approximately $15 or less for one person. The drink menu was simple and equally affordable. I ordered a strawberry coronarita. At first the waiter/bartender Darion looked confused. I explained that I didn't like regular margaritas and if it was possible, I would like a coronarita with frozen strawberry margarita mix. He was super cool about it and it worked perfectly. I also told him he could make whatever for the next drink and it was a cherry limeade coronarita. Props to him for thinking outside the box. For dinner I ordered their version of Shrimp Diablo. It was pretty spicy but came with a large size salad and flour tortillas. It was enough food for three people. Everything was fresh and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Good chips and salsa - big bowl of salsa and your own container. 3 hot sauces on every table. Yucatán, El Tapatio or Valentina. They have a big menu with lots of choices. I had the pollo loco earlier this week and the mixed fajitas today. Both were excellent. Beans were good in though retried they had a few whole beans in them and cheese on top. Rice was usual fair. Fajitas had a lot of meat, onions and peppers. Plus had lettuce with sour cream and guacamole plus that crumbly cheese. read more

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO EL TORITO?????????? El Torito was our go-to Mexican restaurant in our immediate area. We were excited and ready for some good Mexican cuisine. As we approached the threshold, we noticed that someone had been very different. The "Amigos" we were used to seeing and from whom we ordered our drinks and food, were not there. They had been replaced with a few younger, paler faces. The manager, a stout Latino woman greeted us after waiting 17 minutes to be acknowledged and give our drink orders. We patiently waited for her to return with drinks and take our orders for food. She disappeared. We waited just shy of an hour for our dinners. During this period of time, we were not approached even once to inquire of drink refills, chip refills and/or to give any explanation as to the reason behind taking so long. Now, there were MAYBE a dozen others in the dining room; indicative of not being very busy. Well, what to our wandering eyes appear but Lavitta (not certain of name to date) with our food. I am not very good at keeping my mouth shut when disappointed. I expressed that I was not happy and that we were there well over an hour. An excuse was made that an order for 10 was called in. And that's MY problem? I think not as that is not an overwhelming order. Apparently there's not enough labor and/or experienced, capable employees to handle such a task. Again, not my problem. My food was cold, the chimichangas were as small as a half-folded dollar bill and the chicken (which was the only ingredient in it) was very dry. From that point on, I was grossly ignored as she only addressed my son and thanked him for his patronage!! Before leaving, she adorned us with a beautiful flan as a token of compensation for our trouble, again, only addressing my son. THAT SUCKED TOO!!!!!!!! I'm not a bug Taco Bell fan but, I do believe it would have been enjoyed more. STAY AWAY!!! It's no longer the great restaurant and folks you're expecting!!!! it wasn't the best food or the worst but I don't like it personally. The drink i ordered which was horchata and it was very watery but still tastes good. I also ordered some Al pastor tacos and they were mid. They came with some sauce but it wasn't good. My family ordered some quesadillas and the cheese inside was hard. Been meaning to give this place a try. First off, do not discount this place because it is attached to a budget motel. The inside is really colorful and authentic. The staff are fantastic as well. Food was only okay. Attached to an Econo Lodge which looks rough and part of a ghetto. The area is not in a ghetto at all so it seems to not make sense. Riff Raff seem to be hanging out around this hotel and restaurant. We ordered fajitas for 2 with the steak, chicken, and pork. The pork was amazing, the chicken was okay. It's really a shame that I have to give this place 2 stars, because the food is actually pretty good. Unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. Visiting my family for the holidays I dined here with my partner and my Dad on 12/26. When we arrived there was another party waiting to be seated and it took quite awhile for anyone to notice either of our groups. Long delays in between being seated and drink orders. Despite stating and showing items on the menu our waitress did not understand our order (which honestly is really strange). We never received silverware, straws, or napkins and had to get our own when we spotted them near by. We were charged for extra food and had to seek out another server for our bill when our meal was finished. Throughout the restaurant we could hear other diners complaining about issues. Most notable was the table next to us where one customer received tacos without ANY meat in them. This compliant caused the waitress to run to the kitchen where shouting and cursing could be heard. Veggie fajitas are solid, but don't bother. Go to Taco Queen over the bridge and enjoy yourself. read more

Rob was very attentive and had our orders as requested in a very timely manner. We will go back again! We had a craving for Mexican food and El Torito fit the bill. Friendly staff and warm tortilla chips welcomed my husband and I. We did not have to wait long for our food to arrive either. It was a later lunch and the place was pretty quiet at that time. Not a fancy place, but clean and colorful. The food was presented well and plentiful. The chicken in the fajita was tender and moist. My girlfriend and I just had our first experience here. The food was delicious, the waiter was incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was great. We were seated almost right away, which was surprising because the place was absolutely packed. It took a little while for our waiter to show up, but alas, he did, and took our drink order and the drinks showed up in a decent amount of time, as well as chips and salsa. The salsa was interesting to me because it tasted homemade, and there was a good bit of spice to it, but the salsa itself tasted somewhat weak. Our food orders came out at separate times, interspersed with a group who had shown up right before us, so they got some of their food, then one of us got our meal, then they got more of their order, stuff like that. We did get all of our food, drink was refilled without me even asking which was great, and as I said earlier, the food tasted incredible. The only issue that I could say that I had was that while the server was very nice, it took quite a while. I don't know if the service is always kinda slow, or if it was just that it was busy. My girlfriend and I decided we would definitely come back, however, and I'll be more than happy to update my review when that does happen. That was the only thing putting me shy of 5 stars read more

Overall this has to be the closest to an authentic Mexican cuisine that you can find in this area. A few minor compromises that keep this from a 5 but it wasn't far from it. The fajitas were fresh but the tortillas were not homemade. The tamale was however homemade and had the perfect amount of moisture as well as taste. Desert however disappointed and surprised all at once. Flan should be served alone with its own Carmel sauce. The flan was served with whip crenels and two cherry's. In all honesty it actually pissed me off, I was expecting authentic and instead I got what I called an Americanized Flan. After scrapping off the two cherrys and whip cream, the flan was superb. It had amazing form and the Carmel sauce that was left was perfect. It complemented the flan perfect. I will be going back but will make sure I order my flan without whip cream. read more

So sorry to post this negative review,. Three stars only because the margarita was good. We went here two years ago and left happy. Tonight we left very unhappy. Guac was made with spoiled avocado and salt. Burrito was missing ingredients, even after we told them and they re-made it. The pina colada tasted like metallic coconut cream. Quesadilla was fake cheese in a folded I don't know what, and the "best"shrimp salad was served with rubbery tasteless shrimp and not much else. We left almost everything. They discounted our bill 10% for the nonsense, but so will need to feed the kids again tonight because no one really ate anything. The server was nice. He tried. read more
