We came to a rehearsal dinner here with family and friends. The setting with ocean view was so beautiful. We arrived just before Sunset so it made all the more special. The food was good and service as well. We had a great time with everyone and enjoyed the beautiful evening. -1star for mixing up orders and forgetting to serve people when the menu was already picked out ahead of time. Yet they would take a long time to serve out of order.

Finally got to check out this spot and so glad I did. It's a gorgeous place to have a sunset dinner!!!! The food and drinks were great. Service is friendly and THE VIEW is absolutely stunning!!!! Highly recommend the frozen Spicy Margarita and the Mexican Molcajete which is combo beef, chicken, shrimp fajita type dish with molcajete sauce (we'd call it a medium salsa in US) quesadilla, rice, and beans. Great value! Go for the views feels like a tree top restaurant. Whether you want a romantic dinner or just a fun spot with friends, this is a great stop when in PV!

Magnificent restaurant in a majestic location. The food is delicious the rice which I normally do not eat was the best I have ever had. The options are limited but well prepared, if your not a fan of the food have a drink and enjoy the view they have 2 for 1 drink specials like most places in the city. But to learn the history of the place from the maître d' was magical in itself. The place is frozen in time and should be a must stop on any trip to Vallarta .

First of all, I can't begin to say enough good things about the location, the service and the exceptional time we had here. Perched perfectly above the beach with the most incredible sunset views you could wish for. The ambiance is lovely, the food very good and the drinks delicious. We booked a private event and truly, words will never begin to express my gratitude for the impeccable service, attention to every little detail and taking every bit of stress out of planning. Liliana was kind, patient and so lovely in arranging all my dreams. When the weather decided to intervene, we never knew. The staff simply adjusted and our party continued. For a romantic dinner, an incredible space for an event this is the place. Beautiful in all the ways to make memories to last a lifetime. Thank you.

Amazing views at EL SET!! One step inside and you notice the beauty of this restaurant immediately. The restaurant itself has good options especially for seafood and your typical drink specials. -open and airy elevated restaurant overlooking the coast -clean restaurant and decent bathrooms -perfect for picture taking and taking it all in while having some yummy food and drinks -4 Stars.~ Overall, I enjoyed El Set. This location offers the best views of the ocean! The service here is good, staff is nice, seating area is spacious, and the inside is very inviting. ;D

We came here as part of a Princess Cruises shore excursion. El Set is so named as it was the setting for the film Night of the Iguana. The setting overlooking the Puerto Vallarta coastline is beautiful. Worth a stop here just for the view! We did not stay for a full meal, but for refreshments. My wife and I enjoyed tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa. (Note that in Mexico there is a commonly a charge for chips and salsa. Our tablemates ordered fajitas, which were quite different from fajitas served in the USA. I'd definitely want to stay for a full meal.

If you want a beautiful view and excellent food this is the place to go. I knew I would love it when I looked through the restaurant and saw the ocean and heard the sound of the waves. The atmosphere is amazing and the drinks were really delicious. The pins colada's were great. We all had Mexican plates with fresh tacos and beans and a guacamole and chips and fresh hot tortillas. The service was very good and the restaurant is tropical looking and spotless. It's such a relaxing atmosphere that we didn't want to leave after we ate lunch. If we lived here I would go there all the time. Try this beautiful restaurant for your next meal. You won't be disappointed.

Every thing was amazing, really nice staff , got perfect sunset seats , husband got the trio amigos plate, the shrimp crepes were amazing as well oh and the stuffed avocados

What a view!! We were taking a tour and this was lunch spot. Great food, good service, and that view!! The only reason I'm giving it a four star review is that they don't take American Express when this is supposedly a famous restaurant celebrities go to.

You eat what you order and leave behind your self respect. The dining room is packed tighter than a turtle's pecker. A dozen staff members move around each other like bees tending the hive, the rhythm wild and relentless. The tacos themselves are intimidatingly large, the vibe unlike anything I have ever seen. It's thicker, more cheesy than what I've ever had before and very delicious. We paired that with the prime rib tacos, it was a plate stacked with meat and 4 tortillas under it, more than we could eat. The seasoning was great, it was diced so small that it was easy to eat. Vegans are easy please. Give them clear marked options, even if there is one option, we are pleased. This place had a few clearly marked options plus the staff was fully aware and can provide suggestions. The only downside it is a cash only place. Guacamole and chips - fantastic. The guacamole freshly prepared and chips fresh fried. Amazing. The 3 types of vegan tacos we got were vegan chorizo, mushrooms and cactus (trying for the fist time). The vegan chorizo was the best, slightly spicy but not overly. The poblano peppers were predictable but very good. The onions with it were a good addition. Nicely seasoned and prepared. The cactus was good, we found that it was less seasoned. Just stir fried cactus. The star of all the three types tacos was the fresh blue corn tacos. We could have those everyday. The other superb tasting was the salsas and fresh toppings. 4 types of salsas, white onions and cilantro. The salsa were of varying different levels of heat and even the mildest salsa was the best. The virgin margarita and virgin mojito were great. Margarita being slightly better even though we love mint. Good atmosphere, clean surrounding and great service and vegan food - what more can one ask?

The entire front portion of the restaurant sits directly in the sand, so that's where we chose to have breakfast--under the iconic palapa roof, feet in the sand, overlooking the ocean. From our table you can watch the fishing boats and excursion boats heading out for the day, which gives the whole experience a relaxed, resort-like rhythm without feeling touristy or rushed. Service was excellent from the start--attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming. They brought out a selection of pastries you can add if you want, like banana bread and cinnamon rolls, which felt like a thoughtful touch rather than an upsell. The coffee was very good, with plenty of options ranging from cappuccinos and café lattes to classic American coffee, all well prepared. For food, I ordered the scrambled eggs with Mexican chorizo, refried beans, and hash browns. It came with a basket of warm corn tortillas and several house salsas, letting you customize each bite. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and clearly made with care. We also ordered the shrimp eggs Benedict with spinach, which was beautifully done--rich, balanced, and fresh, with the shrimp cooked just right. One thing that really stands out is the ambiance. Being right on the beach, hearing the waves, feeling the breeze, and being encouraged (without being told) to slow down and take your time makes the meal feel like part of the vacation itself, not just fuel for the day. They also offer freshly squeezed juices, which pair perfectly with breakfast by the ocean. The menu is extensive, almost overwhelming in a good way--there are so many appealing options that it's genuinely hard to decide. That said, what we ordered was absolutely delicious and satisfying, and it left us wanting to come back and try more. Overall, La Palapa delivers on every level: location, atmosphere, food, and service. It's the kind of place where breakfast turns into a memory, not just a meal.
