What a meal and experience! Our seat was perfect, our view was amazing and the service was excellent! I had the seared tuna with a mango salsa and creamy rice with perfectly cooked vegetables. Well seasoned and nicely seared. My husband had the pork chop, which was an amazing portion, well cooked and seasoned. The calamari for an appetizer was good, nothing special, but good. This is the place to be for a sunset. Happy hour drinks are so good and the surf and turf is incredible. The filet mignon melts in your mouth. A hair raising cab ride to get to this restaurant, but the views the food, and the whole experience were worth it. This is a restaurant to take your time in to relax and enjoy. The views are amazing - for some reason we had fireworks that night which added to the fun. There is live music throughout the evening as well. Phenomenal! During my two week visit to Puerto Vallarta I dined at many restaurants... Casa Isabel is in the top three. My experience there was top notch from start to finish! We made a reservation for 6pm so we could watch the sunset. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant. I ordered the filet mignon with asparagus and a baked potato. The filet was delicious! It was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and juicy with a minimal amount of fat. The asparagus and baked potato was good too. I didn't realize that it was served with sour cream though so that kinda sucked. I'm not fond of sour cream and it was all over the potato. It wasn't like it was just on top. Still the meal was highly enjoyable. We ordered a number of drinks as well. I had a Mai Tai, Rum punch and a limonada. They were all very good. My brother had some Mexican coffee which he loved. They make it for you right at the table which was a spectacle within itself! If you drink coffee you must try it. For dessert I had the chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. It was pretty good too. The views only had to the experience. They're spectacular! I highly doubt checking out Casa Isabel if you're in Puerto Vallarta. read more

The food at the restaurant is amazing and the service is excellent. Fun ambiance with a full bar and romantic tables for a date night. The rooms in the hotel are beautiful and we love hanging out by the pool just admiring the view of the ocean and the mountains. Difficult to get to even though the building can be seen on the hillside due to the large size & even more outstanding school bus yellow color. Taxi drivers were confused. Try it. Go for the views. Stay to enjoy an appetizer or cocktail. Once at the entrance: climb 2 levels of stairs to reach the bar/grill area. Attentive staff dressed in black are professionals. The menu offers several choices of appetizers, salads, soups and entrees. We Arrived at 4:30p relaxed with conversation & drinks and light food. Customers started flowing in after 5:30p. Spectacular! Is probably the best way to describe the views at this hilltop Mexican bar & grill. If you have the opportunity to venture out before sunset you won't regret the amazing views. After the awe inspiring views I'd recommend having some drinks and appetizers and continue to gaze out into the ocean. Nice and cozy establishment offering live music and good local food. Prices are moderately higher than most other nearby comparable restaurants but the vistas are priceless. We came here several years ago and were very happy. While I would give it a 4-5 for view and service, the food this evening was just average. Perhaps we have been spoiled this trip, having eaten last night at Barcelona Tapas and last week at Cafe des Artistes. But are bill last night at Barcelona Tapas was only a little more, and included a full bottle of wine, dessert and cheese free. And the food was just so much better! We had tonight Filet Mignon and shrimp.there was just nothing special about it. A beautiful setting to enjoy the sunset, but I'm sorry to say we probably won't return. read more

Not many current reviews of this place so thought it would be good to include one. We knew the view would be amazing because of the taxi ride going up all the hills. It was a beautiful view! There is a building which I hear is new that blocks the sunset in some areas. This restaurant is an Old Mansion that is a Boutique Hotel. We met the owner and she is a very lovely women. We were told she is lives there and always visits her guests in the restaurant. The food was very very good from the calamari to the coco shrimp and the filet mignon. What was not the best was the customer service. First they have no beverage menus and could tell they were a little annoyed when we ask. The bus boy was sooo sweet and would take his time as we ask him questions. The coffee made at the table is amazing experience and rhe coffee is delicious!!! When paying they were also annoyed that we paid with card. I see this place as a gem that has many many regular customers. Places like these need to also honor new customers and gain their business. Happy I did go and try and for the food and view I might return one day. read more

DO NOT BRING KIDS- we found out the hard way! I've never received such abhorrent, insulting & thoughtless service. After we were seated, (we had a reservation) Manuel rudely told us they do not serve children & insisted we leave. NO WHERE on their website does it say they don't. When we asked him to show us where, he couldn't. Turns out it was a FB status update. I've never scanned a business's FB page to make sure I could go. There's literally pictures of kids & families being served on their FB page. At no point did he apologize or offer an alternative. (He could've offered to give us food to go, to pick up the cab ride to another restaurant or even recommend/call another place to make sure we could be accommodated.) Then he said he was busy & had to leave. I believe he wanted to give our table to another party. Then, when we complained on FB, the responder, who never identified who they were, spent multiple messages explaining the policy, liking snarky responses from other customers & after 5 or 6 communications gave us a 'sorry, BUT' response. Totally unprofessional & amateurish behavior. There are many fantastic places in PV, no need to visit Casa Isabel. read more

Knowing that my wife and I would be in Puerto Vallarta for Valentine's Day I had to book us something nice before we even headed down there. I took a chance on Casa Isabel based on some reviews I had seen and boy am I glad I did! Located at the top of a rather steep hill, we opted for one of the few taxi rides we took in PV to avoid any difficulties. We arrived a few minutes early but they had our reservation (whew!) and we were seated immediately. They had a special Valentine's Day menu that essentially contained a few entrees from their regular menu but there was something for both of us so we were fine with that. Sunset took place thirty minutes after we were seated and was a fun experience with lots of picture taking, cheering, and cowbell ringing as the sun went down. Our salads were delicious, as were my filet mignon and her chicken stuffed with pears, pecans, etc. Dessert was also lovely with chocolate cake with mint chip ice cream and vanilla creme brulee being the two that we shared. Service was attentive and friendly especially given the busy night. There was some nice live music with some unexpected accompaniment by one of the customers which was funny. read more

So glad we went here ! Our last night in PV. We had a party of 11. Great table, overlooking the whole city below. Super view ! Great Service all night long . Awesome food. We had ceaser salad, rib eye steak, bottle of wine, Mexican coffee and crème brulee . including tip, I think the total bill came to 1200 p . So worth it . Love the atmosphere. Love the ambience. Love the location. ( we took a taxi ) . I have a rule, never walk at night, and / or after drinks ! ( unless you want to visit the hospital ) . This is such a neat spot. It is a must do as far as I am concerned. Really special. Would have like to go on a tour of the hotel portion, but did not have time. Fabulous view and terrific service. The vegetarian options are excellent. We really loved the low key background music which set the mood for a romantic dinner.
