Now, I always have this thing about Tacos Autlense in East San Jose. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best taquería in the country. This place comes close. It seems really typical with tacos and burritos, but they have a column that shows their seafood options. I got three carne asada tacos and my buddy got a super carne asada burrito. With an horchata and a Jarritos Limón, it came to just under $19.00. It sounds a little high, but I think it was okay because of the drinks. Many places charge $2.99 just for horchata, even though they're small. I also asked for lettuce and tomatoes. It's funny, I ordered in Espanglés/Spanglish and I'm not sure it was 100% necessary but it went very smoothly. It was ready VERY quickly--unnaturally quickly. It comes with the usual two layers of soft golden tortillas, your choice of meat, onions, cilantro, and salsa. My go to choice of meat is asada, which is perfectly cooked and the size of the cut asada goes perfectly with the tortillas. Optional is the onions, cilantro, and salsa. I normally take my tacos with everything on them. I've come to realize the red salsa is the perfect topping to this delicious taco. It's not too spicy, has a great flavor and is always consistently delicious. You can't forget to get aside if their marinated carrots, which is the perfect crunchy texture to add to this master piece of a taco. The staff is always friendly, the inside is always clean, and the food is consistent and delicious. I highly recommend trying this place out.

We walked in, and the other people at the bar started talking to us about our food (because Daisy's is that kind of place!) "Is that from the food truck?" "Oh, they're the best!" "My favorite is the Al Pastor." It seems that all the locals in San Juan Bautista consider this THE place to go for great Mexican food. It's a typical "food truck" - though in this case, it's actually a trailer. It seems to be a permanent installation. They have a big tent with tables and chairs if you want to eat there. There is also a small stand in the same lot selling AMAZING churros, warm and fresh. The truck has a big menu, so I ended up eating there the next night as well. I tried their tacos with carne asada, and they were really, really good. Everyone at Daisy's said that the al pastor is the best, so the next night I went back for an al pastor burrito. Have you ever had a meal that you knew was too much to eat, but just couldn't stop? Yeah, that's what happened to me. I kept telling myself, "I'll save some of this for later" - and then it was gone! They have a red sauce and a green sauce. The red has some kick to it. If you don't like things too hot, get it on the side. The green is milder, but still has a little heat and lots of flavor. The people were really friendly, and service was quick. Prices are good, and the daily specials are incredible. I got four tacos for $6. Apparently this was once a "cash only" business. They now have a cardboard sign taped up saying they take credit and debit cards. Pay in cash if you can; for small businesses, the credit card processing fees add up. There are other good places to eat in SJB, but this is now my go-to place.
