Walked in around 11:45 am and noticed the place was somewhat small. Most tables were full but we were able to find one. The waitress came over fairly quickly. She brought our drinks, chips & salsa. She took our order and brought the food within 15 minutes. The food was delicious. Will be recommending this place.

I love coming here to eat. The food has never once disappointed me. The service is spot on as well. My fave are the beans, so flavorful and the fact that they add chicharrones... ahhhh chef's kiss! Also, a fave are the grilled pork chops, nicely seasoned and cooked to perfection. I was a little disappointed that the potatoes with my breakfast were al dente but I took them home and made me a hash lol. This is the only spot I've been to where you can order tacos to go and the brown bag is lined inside! That means no grease dripping and no ripped bags... genius! If you come for breakfast on the weekends, be prepared to wait.

Great go to for casual neighborhood fare. We've been here twice so far and the food has been thumbs up for flavor, quantity, price, and service. Seat yourself anywhere available and I think we've had the same server both times we've been here. Chips and salsas are complimentary. The red salsa is ok, but the green is where the flavor and spice kick are at. Love, love, love the green salsa. This time around ordered the fajita chicken taco salad without cheese and sour cream. At first sight, it looked small, but ended up being just right. The bottom of the salad held all the yummy seasoned chicken, beans, etc. Everyone else enjoyed their entrees- quesadillas were large and contained plentiful amount of cheese and beef, puffy tacos lived up to its name, and the enchiladas/beef stew were delicious. We were all full and content. Pay up at the counter when you are ready.

Chilaquiles plate. Too much onion for my daughter so I ate the plate. lol. Not bad, but I've had better.

Visiting Castroville for a friend's wedding. At some point we had breakfast at El Rincón. We sat at a nearby booth and ordered what you see. Decent place.

First time there today! I walked in and ordered take out. The inside was nice, and they had the heater going on this nice cold day. I ordered a carne guisada with cheese, barbacoa, couple bean and cheese, bean and chorizo, and built a norteno (beef fajita, bean, guac, and white cheese) for my wife. When I got home, I got an extra bean and chorizo taco! The taste of the tacos was pretty good! They were smaller portions than I expected, especially the barbacoa. Part of the flour tortilla seemed stale, and my wife said the beef fajita was a bit dry. I did read over the menu while waiting, and was pleased that they offer a lb of barbacoa for $13.99! Next visit, I'll dine in and see how the other plates and service are like.

Unfortunately, the owners of this restaurant suffered a terrible fire at their original location but have rebounded at this new location with their terrific Tex-Mex and Mexican dishes. My husband and I try to eat here a couple of times a month but, during peak dining times you may not be able to find an open table. I watched many people share their tables family style with other patrons and unfortunately watched people leave because their were no seats. This location is much smaller than the original spot that caught fire. Breakfast is so good! My favorite is the El Patron plate and my lunch favorite are the mini taquitos . Hopefully they will receive their liquor license soon and we will be able to enjoy an amazing margarita.

Carne guisada tacos on point. Fourth visit and carne guisada is consistent. Great flavor and not skimpy on the meat.

It was good because the waitresses before were bad. One in particular had a horrible attitude. So when they changed owners and I didn't see her I thought great! Well imagine my disappointment of seeing her there again after a couple of months. I'm pretty sure it's the one Catalina was talking about on her review. Everyone else is fine. This woman though. Every time she sees me she gives me attitude. I don't know how I offended her but it may be cause I match energies and give it right back. She also calls me mom. That's just weird!! lol. Listen if you didn't come out of me ma'am, miss or my name is just fine thank you.

It might be less busy now as the construction worker foodies that made up most of their clients have dropped off now. However, coming to their brick and mortar location is more convenient for me as I enjoy having my lunch in an AC environment opposed to outside in the Texas heat. The menu is also expanded which I do like. I went with the Pork Frintanga plate. Pork is very tasty and chewy which is a nice touch to me. Add in the sweet plantain and fried cheese and this dish was definitely a winner. Big change up from the food truck meals of mainly papoose, which are a great food truck item. Service is a bit quiet, due to the language barrier, and their lack of speaking English probably hurts the business for non Spanish customers. For me, it adds some authenticity to the experience.

The outside and inside looked very original, yes...a little outdated. But, here, as you browse around, you'll see many of the locals gather to eat and chat. It does get quite busy. Seat yourself anywhere, the restaurant is spacious. Our server was friendly and did check on us frequently. Menu is huge! Think country cooking- burgers, chicken fried steak, salads, breakfast all day, Mexican, you name it. Daily specials- I ordered the meatloaf without gravy and mashed potatoes. I substituted with green beans instead and chose the tomato cucumber salad and harvest beets. It also came with a sweet tea and roll from Haby's bakery. I was very pleased with my meal. The meatloaf was a generous size portion and it was topped with a bit of red sauce and fried onions. The green beans were fresh, not canned. The harvest beets were warm and had a nice glaze. The tomato cucumber salad had a light vinaigrette dressing. I didn't care for the roll, it looked and tasted pretty dry. Overall good. Pay the cashier as you leave the restaurant. You'll also notice Haby bakery items for sale near the entrance as well as Sammy's restaurant hats and t- shirts.
