My favorite restaurant in Vidalia. I visit whenever I'm in town. Consistently great food and service

My wife and I both ordered a Super Taco Salad. It has a the deep fried flour taco shell with beans, rice, grilled bell peppers, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, which is topped off with steamed carrots, broccoli and cauliflower and guacamole and sour cream. We thought it was delicious and a generous portion. Luci provided professional and courteous service. Price was reasonable. Nice Mexican decor throughout. Multiple tv screens with a variety of music in the background. We plan on coming back. read more

Everyone was very friendly and the food is very tasty. I eat here 3 or 4 times a week every week.

This just wasn't my place.. Service was very very slow even though it was a torrential rain outside and there were only a few people there. Plenty of servers but they were all just talking to each other. When we did finally place our order.. they delivered it to table for everyone but one person. Apparently it wasn't ready yet so 10 minutes later the other order showed up.. no explanation!!! Then we never saw a waiter again .. had to go to pay in the front and didn't have a ticket and they couldn't seem to locate one.. Food was not very hot and average overall.: just too many other choices to do this one again.. read more

Went to El Ranchero and ordered Faja Nachos that came with sour cream and guacamole and because I asked for it to put in a separate container I was charged 75 cent fir one and 50 cents for the other one. Then I'm asked the owner y was ch8fir something that came with my order any way he didn't answer so the waiter was trying to give me his own money because of it . The owner of El Ranchero has no feeling towards his customers or employee. God bless the young waiter that tried to make it rite . I told him to keep his money because it wasn't his place to make it rite the owner should have been goin into. His register and making it rite .. El Ranchero owner is not business equip.. Sorry for the employees.. Take ur business someplace else. read more

We were traveling along the Great River Road and arrived late in Natchez. Luckily, we found this restaurant still open, so we stopped in for a weeknight dinner. The ambiance is wonderful! The decor is beautiful with painted murals and mock Mexican village scenes. The Latin music and lighting added to its authenticity. Our waiter was excellent...being prompt, courteous, and friendly. Our food and drinks were delicious!The blended (frozen) margaritas were tasty with a punch! My camarones de ajo al mojo was amazing! My husband's fajita salad was tasty, too. I would highly recommend El Ranchero to all!! read more

The worst service ever! We were wondering why our waitress, who didn't look over 16, wasn't coming to our table doing her job. When we got up to get our ticket after waiting forever, we find her sitting with 5 men standing all around and pretty much on top of her where you check out at front door. She was surprised to see us and jumped up and the men separated/scattered until we paid and then they came back. I'm not sure where management was but completely unacceptable. A friend and I gave this place a try today. Food was good. I don't like salsa usually, but I did enjoy theirs. The only problem we had was with the service. My entree never arrived, because the server (an older gentleman) never wrote it down when he was taking our order. I waited, but noticed other employees sitting down and visiting with one another. Very good! I tried a new plato (for me). El Pollo Hidalgoguense. This is a chicken breast filleted and pounded thin served with a cheese sauce, beans and Sp. Rice. The spices on the chicken were delisioso. The salsa and chips were excellent as well. Nice amount of cilantro. Husband had the special of the day which was a fajita taco salad. He seemed to enjoy it. No words between bites. The only "down" side was the price. I am accustomed to the low prices of Tex-Mex in Texas. Both our meals plus tea was right at $21. But I was exceptionally good. read more

Terrible restaurant. Worst restaurant ever the owners do not care about there business! My husband brought me here for Mother's Day. The time we went was at 2 so was not busy at all. However when we got there it took 20 mins just for us to get a menu. First of all took another hour for us to get 3 easy plates. When the plates came out they ran out of rice but instead of telling us right away they not only waited til last minute but quested what we want and put extra beans. Didn't have no silverware so had to had plastic and then my husband food was so salty and Burt he sent it back and at that moment didn't want to eat nothinggg. He didn't even get his tortilla that came with the meal. Also they place was a trash. Every single table was dirty that they couldn't sit people down. I will admit, I have high expectations for Mexican food as a born and raised Texan. When we moved to Louisiana we were concerned whether we could find good Mexican food. This place is on point. I have eaten here several times and have not left hungry or disappointed. The food is great! The owner and his family keep a close eye on everything and are some of the most humble folks you will ever meet. My favorite dishes are the enchiladas and the chorizo con huevos. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Natchez area. The steak is tender and flavorful, and the margaritas are strong.

Food was good. We had a new waitress and she had trouble with our order. However, we enjoyed the food. Margaritas were just o.k. Waitress did get one thing right - she recommended the happy plate. It was soooo good! read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I wish I had read reviews before eating here. We stopped in for dinner while on vacation. My husband ordered a frozen margarita (frozen machine broken) so agreed to on the rocks. It tasted salty, watery, and very odd, so he sent it back. Later the waitress questioned him and said they literally just open the mix and pour it in the machine. So she was confused. Unlike ANY margarita we've ever gotten anywhere. Whatever, not that big of a deal. The salsa was actually good, but the chips were rubbery. We could bend the chips without breaking. We had a man, appeared to be more of a bus-boy in regular clothes, that kept coming to our table over and over asking everything our waitress already did-if we wanted chips, what to drink, to order. We kept telling him we already told our waitress. Don't know what all of that was about, maybe they had some confusion as to who's area our table was in? I ordered a mini shrimp chimichanga from a-la-carte. That's it. I never order rice and beans in a Mexican restaurant, I just don't eat it. When our food finally arrived, I had a whole dinner with everything, even salad with pico all over it, which I would normally request on the side. I told her that wasn't what I ordered and she just looked at me. I didn't want the pico at all and she offered to get it remade, but it was already late and my family had their food, so I just kept it. My husband had 3 shrimp enchiladas. Each one was only 4 little, uncleaned shrimp rolled in a tortilla with cheese poured on top. No other fillings or sauce inside. My chimichanga was nice golden brown, but the inside was nothing but a few uncleaned, shrimp and a Lot of RAW onion and some raw bell pepper. I couldn't eat it. I told our waitress and said I wanted it off my bill and she said a manager would come speak to me. We waited and waited. Another young lady came over and asked what was wrong with my food. I asked if she was the manager? She fumbled a little and said uh no, he's coming over. That was just another waitress being nosy! We waited again. Throughout our entire meal, my husband could see the employees gathered up chatting near the bar. When a 'manager' finally came, he didn't even come to the table! He stuck his head around the side of the booth where I was sitting, behind me, so I had to turn around to talk to him over my shoulder! I'm not sure if he actually was a manager or not, but he said he would take it to the kitchen to show them. Took my plate, didn't come back. We waited again. My family was long finished eating. We waited. This went on nearly 45 minutes. Had to flag down our waitress to get a to-go box. She had passed our table multiple times and wouldn't even look at us. By this time we were pretty ticked and just wanted to leave. When she finally brought a box, we asked for the ticket. Waited again. Ridiculous! We couldn't wait to get out of there! Waited over 5 minutes to be seated while an idiot sat playing on her phone and another was playing grab ass in the kitchen where I could see and one hustles tips off the tables ignoring customers who spend on average over $100-correction spent Sick and not in the mood today. I would have given this place negative stars if it was a possibility. First we had to wait like 15 to 20 minutes to place our order and only then were able to place it because we tracked the server down. I had to ask for ice for my tea,the wrong food was put in front of the wrong people and we had to swap out the very hot plates ourselves. Then when we got our check there were fajitas on there for $14 that we didn't order. When we told the server we didn't have them she didn't even react. Then it took another 20 minutes to finally get our ticket somewhat corrected. It was $42 before the $14 was supposedly taken off and then after it was $35. Somehow $14 being taken off only came out to be $7 less??? Then when we tipped the server, she counted her tip and felt like it wasn't enough so she looked at another server right in front of us and rolled her eyes.
