    Vegetarian Sushi Roll
    Patrick F.

Stayed at the Fairmont Mayakoba and this was by far my favourite restaurant at the resort! Much like the other restaurants (entire resort for that matter) the service was fantastic and friendly. We tried the vegetarian sushi roll, crab roll, and the salmon nigiri as appetizers. It was definitely the freshest and tastiest sushi I have ever had. They are rolled to order and all kinds of good, if I had to pick a roll I'd go with the vegetarian but either way you can go wrong. For main we shared the El Puerto Fried rice with all three proteins (shrimp, duck confit, and pork). I don't know what to say, it was like nothing I have ever had before. Perfectly cooked and the flavours just explode in your mouth. This might be one of my favourite dishes ever. In fact it was so good, we decided to go back the next night and order it again ! Breakdown: Ambience: GREAT! Sat outside with beautiful view and nice breeze Service: Friendly, funny, knowledgeable staff. Food: So good! Everything was perfect Overall: A beautiful night enjoying excellent food

Beautiful restaurant located in the Fairmont Mayakoba. Marco, our server, was delightful and gave wonderful recommendations. If you like sushi the Angry Tuna roll is a must. The spicy yellowfin tuna was unbelievably fresh and paired well with the avocado and cucumber inside the roll. We also tried the Wagyu roll -the serrano chili made it a lil spicy but the tempura vegetables on top were delicious. I ordered the Black miso cod which was cooked perfectly and plated with turnips, asparagus and cherry tomatoes. A little pricey but overall enjoyable. Topped off the night with a molten sphere desert. Little balls of ooey gooey goodness with a dollop of amaretto ice cream. Very enjoyable dinner and can't say enough great things about the service

We finally got to eat dinner at El Puerto and are so happy we did that we are going there again tonight! I ordered half the sea (oops) but it was all so delicious! I got the tuna and salmon roll (a little bland), a mix of the sashimi (really good), salmon nirigi (amazing), and a salmon sushi roll. My wife wasn't feeling great so the chef special made her a fantastic vegetable soup with a light broth and some vegetarian sushi rolls. She was so happy to have something light but satisfying! Checkout the pictures!

Ate dinner at this place twice during our stay at Fairmont Mayakoba. Everything was so good. The first night we ordered the rib eye steak and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. We paired it with the fried rice. My boyfriend especially loved the sushi. We ordered that during both visits. The sashimi(I recommend) was so fresh and the empanadas were crispy. Customer service was also excellent and ambiance is perfect for date night!

Came here for last night at Playa Del Carmen and birthday dinner. I briefly checked the review and…read moreit looked good so off we went. Restaurant looked pretty busy and the waiter was able to accommodate 8 people at the last minute. Restaurant was clean and nice vibe to it. Staff was friendly and attentive. Waiter brought complementary bread and sticks prior to meal which was good. I ordered the Calamarata pasta with shrimp, baby lobster, octopus calamari, clam mussels, presh tomatoes and parsley. Others ordered homemade spaghetti with mussels and shrimp, homemade tagliatelle, carbonara, and Alfredo with lobster. Waiter was nice and brought sampler on the house, which was half meatball on top of some type of Chipotle sauce. Meatball was not too bad with the sauce. Dishes came and I was bit disappointed with the presentation. Even though it was the most expensive dish on the menu it was around $26 and in US this kind of dish could easily be over $40. The baby lobster looked pretty good, two clams tasted fresh, and mussels were ok. I took my first bite and the sauce had strong seafood flavor which was overwhelming, and it was not a good flavor. Fishy seafood flavor was over powering. I tasted the mussel and other lobster dish and sad to say the flavor was very similar. Half way through my dish, I flipped over the baby lobster and to my surprise the meat portion by the tail was empty. I was like what the heck happened to my lobster. I looked through the dish to see if it fell out and nothing.. So I showed the waiter my dish and asked him what happened to the lobster tail. The waiter said maybe then they cut it in half other dish got the losbter tail.. {Ok}. Then the waiter had the audacity to ask me if I already ate it. I said ummm no I just flipped the lobster and called you. The waiter then said he will take care of me later. Shortly after he came back with one full baby lobster split in half. This was a nice jesture and the lobster tasted good. Over all, the dishes were just average and service was great until he questioned my integrity. Finally the icing on the cake was when the bill came and I handed the waiter the bill, he counted the money in front of me. . After he realized I gave him a tip he said thank you. I was hoping this place would be so great I would want to come back. But nope, I left here going man, I wish Yelp had option to give 2 and half stars.

All of our dishes were wonderful, especially the lamb ragu with pappardelle. And the servers are very nice and helpful. The location of the restaurant at the end of 38th St. near the beach, away from the crowds on Quinta Avenida makes for a relaxing, quiet ambiance. A total winner!
