We were seated after a brief wait at the front. The inside left is designed to make you feel like your on the streets of Mexico, with roofs and buildings within. The right side is booths with very unique tables and headboards, a lot of thought went into the design. Our waiter, whom did not speak very good English, understood exactly what we said and ordered. Seriously, anyone giving someone who is bilingual a hard time needs to do some self reflection, what second language can you speak fluently? Food came out fast and was so delicious. Only things I noticed were, as we walked to the booth, the floors were tacky/sticky. Upon sitting, I noticed the window sills needed cleaned. Our waiter did give us an ample amount of time to before bringing the bill (some my find fault there, others would enjoy the time to socialize with your guests). Otherwise we enjoyed our dinner here. It'd be nice if half the reviewers knew the difference between the two Mexican places in Campbell County. There's the nasty place in the drive-in (awful) and El Pueblito's, that's in the old Sizzlin Steakhouse building. There's only ever been one "waitress" at the place, and she was awesome. Unfortunately, she's no longer there, and there's some white girl waiting some tables. The service from other waiters has most always been top-notch, until last night (the guy never checked on us, didn't listen or did the opposite of everything I asked for, never refilled drinks, didn't bring me a to-go drink, etc.). Unlike the other place, the bathrooms are clean, but old. Unlike the other place, there's no plastic in the food, because you don't have to deal with some kid opening bubble-gum-machine toys into the ground beef. They have a great selection of food. And they're not expensive, despite what some Yankee said in a review --- most meals can be had for around $9. Even Carne Asada is only $15. The House Special Dinner, which has a sampling of everything, is only $15. He either reviewed the wrong place or just made something up. As for the crap service I got last night, all I can say is, I've been eating there consistently for the last three years and it's been all good. The menu is massive. The restaurant itself seems massive. We arrived on a Saturday for lunch and the place was not as packed as the night before. We just drove by the previous night and knew we wanted to check this place out based on how busy they were. I decided to get the chicken and chorizo tacos. Really enjoyed my meal. My wife ordered a dish with fish and said they put way too much sauce on it. The service was great. Our drinks were never empty and overall it was a decent lunch. read more

Easily my favorite Mexican restaurant around. The ground meat is deliciously flavorful. I was surprised that there wasn't any hot sauce on the table, but the food doesn't need to be disguised. The guacamole is also nicely flavorful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be returning. If you get Alejandro, you're especially lucky. He is a great server. read more

I stopped in for lunch. I was immediately seated and the service was excellent. They are super attentive, fast and work really hard. I had the verde enchiladas and they were delicious! The presentation was full of color and the flavor was tangy, tart and savory. It literally made me be a member of the Clean Plate Club! Used to go here all the time but they'll try to nickel and dime you on your bill. Most recent disappointment was I got the three taco meal and they wouldn't make me a chicken, a beef and a pork taco. They said I had to have that all mixed together. They couldn't do one of each which is ridiculous because if I ordered three different meals I could have one that's chicken one that's beef and one that's pork. Ridiculous really little things have bugged me that I won't be going there anymore only if nothing else is open. read more

I have becoming here on and off for the past 20 years as we have a lake house in the area. Perhaps you wonder why I come back with a 2 star rating? Well.... for one it is the only place in town to get liquor with your meal...second, other than Taco Bell (if that even counts for Mexican) only Mexican option. And finally the food and service isn't always subpar. Occasionally they get it right and could be 4 stars. The problem is that it is only occasionally! Usually something is messed up or missing. I believe allot of the issue is a communication gap. Since I don't speak fluently in Spanish this could be a contributing factor. So if you are fluent in Spanish you might have better luck. Since I am a bit of a gambler and like a mixed drink or cold cerveza with dinner I will continue to darken their door on occasion. read more

I have had more than my fair share of meals here and will list out the good and the bad below. Good: - Food arrives quick and is hot when it gets to the table - Drinks are refilled quickly - Meal cost is relatively cheap - Free wifi and tv Not so good: - Restrooms need a LOT of work - Be sure to take a long look at your food to ensure of any non-food objects (i'll leave it at that) Your options are very few in CC if you want a restaurant to sit in at. This place is getting ridiculous!! The servers are rude. The food isn't all that good. It's bad when you go to a Mexican restaurant and get stale chips!! We asked for a cup of ice 5x and the server brought an empty Styrofoam cup. Ummm ok.. Then when the bill comes they hover over you to see what kind of tip you are gonna give them. Ridiculous I say! We have been getting carry out food from El Pueblito at least once a month for years. The food is always good, plentiful and hot. We've never experienced any of the negative aspects often mentioned in other reviews. We also have brought other guests to our lakehouse and they also have always been very pleased with the quality and quantity of the food. read more

I stepped in for a beer with a friend and all it did was confirm the negative reviews of evident filth this place has become defined by. One beer and I was out. The bathroom was to filthy to take a leak in and washing your hands would only make them worse. Too bad this place has come to this. I do congratulate them though.. Not only is the food at El Pueblito great, but the people that work there are first rate. My wife dropped her wallet and phone in the parking lot, and they returned everything, cash, cards and phone. They are exceedingly honest! And, like I said, the food was great too! read more

I came here today with my husband and in-laws. We had no silverware until AFTER our meals came cold. Especially the fajitas which were NOT served sizzling. We repeatedly asked for queso dip, which we never got. We waited awhile for our drinks, which they screwed up my husbands twice, then had to wait 15 more minutes for the correct drink. The nacho app came out with our cold meals, soggy nonetheless. Tried to short change my mother in law $10. All the manager did was make excuses and offered no compensation for our ruined night. For the $100 that was spent it was complete bull. Will not be back and do not recommend. Save your money for the Mexican place in Rocky Top! read more

I personally love this place. The chicken fajita nachos are amazing as are their regular cheese and nachos. They make the chips fresh daily.

Pricing of food is much higher than the market. Some of the staff is very good, but most give you the feeling they would rather be anywhere than serving you. I would skip this place for a drive thru. read more

The salsa was really good for a Mexican restaurant. That's typically how I grade them, but my steak quesadilla wasn't that great. The steak just didn't taste good at all. I thought it looked a little funky, but it tasted bad. Bad enough to ruin my appetite in just two bites. The sweet tea was good, as well as the service, so that's where the two stars come from.
