I have ordered from here from door dash but I had to start going through the drive through because every time I asked for more salsas and the amount. They still ignored and didn't add the extra. It's almost like they are being charged for them. I wouldn't mind if they would to at least have to charge for more salsas. At this point it's more of an inconvenience to which is why we order but I got tired of worrying if I was going to get 2 salsas for a 6 piece chicken. I'm Mexican and I love salsa so yeah! Half my order was wrong made incorrectly or just failed in taste and representation to advertising. Shrimp and chicken tostada was soupy and had a shrimp the size of a nickel dried out no flavor. We had an amazing lunch at this El Pollo Loco location and could not say enough good things. We don't have a location where we live so it's always a treat when we visit California. A lady instantly greeted us after walking through the door and was so friendly and helpful (I believe she was lead). The service was a 10/10 and the food was exceptional!! It was so fresh and exceeded our expectations over and over again. That same lady was happy to give us extra salsa without any issues. The restaurant was also clean and really nice to look at. El Pollo Loco has improved themselves gracefully and I was pleasantly surprised at how well they have improved their chicken when my family ordered some today and I was surprised at how their chicken has improved and my father LOVED the gravy and mashed potatoes and I can say El Pollo Loco does gravy and mashed potatoes justice and their gravy and mashed potatoes are way better than KFC's. And the macaroni and cheese tasted amazing and the nachos and nacho cheese are great as well and my family loved El Pollo Loco's churros too. And one thing that the crew of this El Pollo Loco location deserves is a trophy for the awesome swift service they gave my family when we received our food. Would I eat here again? Went through the drive thru and ordered a corn chicken pollo bowl, a tacos el carbon combo and a classic chicken burrito (by itself). The order taker asked if I wanted nachos and guacamole for $4.99 and I said yes. After repeating my order she said she'd give me the total at the window. At the window she gave me the total which I thought was pretty low considering all that I ordered and gave her my credit card. She handed me my order and receipt. Just as she handed me the pollo bowl I noticed I wasn't charged for the classic burrito either which, like the pollo bowl, wasn't in the bag either. At this point I gave up. At least the wife's order was correct - My low rating is not because I had paid and was shorted but because the order taker wasn't attentive enough to hear and fulfill my order, thus making them lose $$$ and earning them a poor rating. Whoever works the drive-thru really needs some customer service training or needs to be reassigned to a different position. It never looks good when you have an employee screaming at a customer through her headset. I've worked in retail and in restaurants, i know how bad and unpleasant customers can get. Unfortunately this isn't the first time I've witnessed this this type of behavior at this location and it seem like it's always the same female. The new chicken nachos had no cheese sauce (quest blanco) and it looked like whoever made it didn't know what was supposed to be in it. It was a mess. The drive-thru person kept getting the order wrong and it kind of frustrated my husband. When we finally got to the pick up window we had to ask for our chicken nachos because they weren't in the bag. They accused us of already having them so we had to show them we didn't. They also gave us the wrong side dishes, unfortunately we didn't know that until we got home. So bottom line, if you want to eat here always check your order before you leave this drive-thru. I am normally a fan of El Pollo Loco and eat at the Santa Maria location almost every week. We are not strangers to the menu but this one location suffered on several points. We ordered our typical 2 piece meal with two thighs. What we got was over cooked and while it made for a great crispy skin the meat was very dry. We suspect that it was reheated from the day before. Then they got my wife's order wrong when she ordered potatoes with no gravy and she got it swimming in gravy and they were also very watery. Next the soda machine ran out of Diet and I told an employee. He acknowledged my problem and went right back to doing what he was doing. At that point we just left. read more
