I've been coming to El Pollo Amigo for nearly 30 years, and I'll never forget meeting the original owner, Waldo (RIP), at 24 Hour Fitness and trying the Monster Neal burrito for the first time. This place used to feel like a West Hills staple. But lately, it feels like things have changed -- and not in a good way. When I ordered my usual BB meal with two chicken breasts, two rices, and tortillas, it came with just one small salsa cup. Back in the day they used to just give you an extra one no questions asked .... Now when I asked to get one more "Small" salsa, they told me they couldn't do that -- they couldn't give me one for free and they also couldn't even charge me for a small.... the only option was to buy a medium for $2. Why can't I get another small for a fair price ?? Most restaurants let you pour salsa yourself or at least offer a reasonable option for an extra small. I wasn't asking for something free, just fairness and flexibility. Then came the worst part. When I got home and started eating, I found a piece of metal wire -- like a bristle from a grill brush or cleaning tool -- mixed in with my food. It wasn't foil; it was sharp and rigid. I took pictures because it was honestly shocking to find something like that in my meal. Thankfully, I spotted it before swallowing, hopefully there wasn't any more .. but it's very dangerous. After 30 years of loyalty, I never thought I'd write a review like this. Carelessness in the kitchen and poor customer policies are exactly how long-time customers get driven away. I really hope the current owners take this seriously, both for safety and for the sake of keeping this local gem alive.

The chicken is the star here, moist and delicious - 4 stars!

Classic chicken is served here! Moist, rich, and delicious! Forgot about El Pollo Loco and give El Pollo Amigo a try. The sides were fine, we got the beans (3 stars) and the cole slaw (3 1/2 stars), but the chicken is the star here, solid 4 stars. Parking was easy with a lot in front, service was quick and easy, and the food is no frills and classic. Would definitely come back for take-out any day of the week!

What a rip-off.. $16.50 for 2 pieces of chicken rice and beans ? You've gotta be kidding me... I'll never come back..

    Peruvian Chicken so good!!!

This review is for the takeout Peruvian pollo a la brasa. It's delicious and well-packed with all the spicy sauces. The service is always quick, and the place is clean.

Came in last night to celebrate a friend's birthday (they have happy hour all day Mon-Wed) and was pleasantly surprised. My friends started off ordering the HH guava margaritas, which they enjoyed. I ordered the coconut margarita (not on HH) a must !!!! Not overwhelmingly sweet and tasty! We ordered and rated the following dishes: Guacamole: 9/10 HH tinga Nachos: 7.5/10 (flavor was there but most chips were burnt) HH Taquitos papas: 9/10 great flavor and sauce HH steak tacos: 7.5/10 the corn and portion of meat to the taco was very good. The steak a little well done for my liking. Enchiladas verde: 9/10 great portion honestly enough for two to share. Rice and beans were okay. Beans a bit salty and rice was a bit bland. Would definitely come back for the apps and drinks! They also have brunch which looks like fun.

When we got there, there was a DJ playing 80s/90s throwbacks. It was good music and vibes, but it was quite loud, we could barely hear ourselves speak. Luckily he wasn't there too long, as brunch-time was over. We ordered Mango margaritas, chips & salsa, birria tacos, tinga taquitos, elote, and chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Every single thing was delicious. I was highly impressed. This place will definitely be in the rotation. If I didn't live so far away, I would go for happy hour.

The restaurant has a really peaceful, laid-back vibe that's perfect if you want to enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. The restaurant is clean, wheelchair accessible, and they have a convenient digital menu you can scan with your phone. The prices are fair for the quality of the food, especially considering how fresh everything is. I found the wait staff to be a bit short-tempered and absent-minded. The molé was decent, sweet, with a little smokiness. The plate was big enough to share or take leftovers home. Comes with a basket of chips and salsa you get yourself at a salsa bar. Ordering is at the counter, then you take a number to your table. Soft drinks are self serve. They don't have Coke Zero, only Diet Coke. The flan was pretty good. They ask if you want it topped with a caramel sauce and/or whipped cream. Again, I had to go to the counter and ask for it (even though I had paid for it). In fact, I had to go back to the counter several times. My drink cup was forgotten. My flan was as forgotten. Since no one came by to check on our party of five- I had to go to the counter to get to-go boxes and bags. It's close by to work, so I might come by another time. Or I might just go to Melody's because their staff seems to be nicer...
