Tried this place out since it was only a block further down from where I was staying and wanted to do a compare and contrast with the other truck close by. El Pique has more options overall, proteins and menu items. I stuck with the basics though and stuck with the tacos. The truck is pretty no frills, you're not going to find a bunch of sauces or toppings out to customize your order. You'll get their standard of cilantro, onions and radish and salsa. The tacos were good, solid but definitely not the best I've had so far. It's not that it's bad, there are other places nearby that have the same thing but tastier.

Best original Taco truck in Highland park, The food is delicious, try the Tacos, burritos and the Quesadillas!

Taco taco taco !!! Throw your hands up in the air for tacos !! I heard Cali has the best tacos so I had to try! I was told by a trusted Californian that this was one of the best taco trucks. The carnitas taco and burritos were so good! The chicken is also good and the steak one is nice if you like steak. It's cash only and the wait is pretty quick. They give you this spicy red sauce and when u put a little on each bite- my god!! So fantastic. I've been by twice and will probably come again when I have a taco craving. There isn't much space to park as they are next to a car wash place.. we parked on the street instead.

Picking up the quesa-dilla.. and some taco.. gotta try this one out also.. gotta be good if your right next to la estrella. The tacos here are good. Hubby said that it is like La Estrella, I guess when La Estrella is packed I'll be walking here. Plus they have quesadilla. MMMMMM it was deish.. It comes with sour cream (no extra charge) little tomato and lettuce. Now i'm craving for one. The guy was friendly and was patient when I wanted to buy everything. LOL. Taco's- $1.25 Burrito- $4.50 I think the quesadilla is $4.25 They even have a little bench for you to sit and wait or you can get your car washed right behind it.

Huh ! ? ! ? Well...sh*t ! ! What...it's hard to describe what it sounds like to hear a donkey laugh... http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/xh_yxOrg_cnbVb83wRPDdw?select=TvzZrUkNWoCt9MYCAkT2GQ (No, not this donkey...) But it's like...snicker, giggle...RRRRZZZZQQQQKKKK !!! (on the inhale) Well, I heard it...it's cute...and she was kinda cute, especially considering it wasn't close to last call. It went down like this... I said something funny to her n' her lil friend and they both laughed... but on her inhale... RRRRZZZZQQQQKKKK !!! golly...well I didn't even really care...but everyone had a look on their faces like...whoa...did that just come outta her ! ? ! ? I just kinda laughed along with her, cuz it was cute. A whole lot better than a snort, don't ya think ? So I b.s.ed with her and her friend while they waited for their food...I shared my salad with her friend along with some nutritional facts about Iceberg Lettuce...uh huh...and they left. Other things I remember while I was here: - El Huero likes es-square-t ! - You CAN drink a burrito, if held in the proper position...(opening can)pssst...it's almost like opening a can of whoop-azz.... - Tough Guys DON'T eat chili ! (as in jalapenos...wusses...) - El Huero glows...amazing talent he keeps a secret...almost. Proof... http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/EPNQV298MQ0Oqb6OPc8t5w?select=0bGIC409ngdIinK7v0isVw - Wait ? How much...$22 for 4 Burritos and a Taco ! ? - Wow...This Burrito IS good, huh Frankie ? (Frankie face down in burrito...nom nom nom nom...doesn't even answer...ingrate.) - The people working there...really cool people, nice...really nice...for alas, manners are not done away with...quite yet. Well good times...when I go play pool off Yorke again...I'm gonna come back and get me a $5 burritah... Maybe I'll spot my donkey laugh princess again... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En8E3KSyi8Y

Blech! I think I ordered the wrong thing. I should have stayed with my staple carne asada taco to get a good baseline, but I decided to switch it up and go with al pastor. I asked for a plain taco (solo carne) but it came with onions, which I had to painstakingly remove, cursing El Pique all the while. I thought the al pastor was greasy and flavorless and was quite saddened about wasting my money here. Mike F. kindly offered me some Mexican Coke to wash the taste from my mouth...holy cow, you could pour that shit over pancakes and you'd think it was Aunt Jemima. It's unbelievably sweet; I can't believe y'all were chugging it down like it was vodka...er, water. I am only giving two stars because there were limes and cucumbers on my plate, and I love both.

Parked in a corner lot self service car wash, this taco truck was easy to find! The order: One carnitas taco for $1.25. The taco had soft, tender pork meat topped with onions and salsa with a side of lime and cucumbers. Though the meat was moist, I prefer my carnitas tender AND slightly crispy. Meh, it was alright.

The food is good, it's reasonably priced, and the turnover of the line is out of this world. Asada / Cabeza tacos: I think their tacos hit that above average mark. You get a healthy amount of guacamole, onions, cilantro, and chili sauce to keep things balanced. They let you dictate what you want and don't want, which is good for those who prefer to skip some of the fixins. The tortilla was firm and held everything within the taco well. The meat was prepped well, so it wasn't too heavy, nor did you feel that you were getting shortchanged. At $3.25, it's competitively priced, and I'm glad they got their namesake right. Asada / Cabeza Burrito: I really enjoyed their burrito. They just understand the right mix of rice, beans, protein, and additives. Around the $12, it's a very good dinner option and an even better midnight meal option when most businesses are done for the day. Ambiance: It's literally on the sidewalk. The ambiance is a shining light in an area that's clearly done for the day. It's a beacon of hope for some, and a red flag for others. Service: 5 stars. I've never seen a man prep tacos and burritos with so much speed and precision. The line was long when we got there. It didn't matter, the line progressed faster than I could ever imagine.

Line was pretty decent, but it went fast. Nice little set up for an outdoor taco spot. There was a time not so long ago when they all used to be food trucks. Now, it's just tent, generator and propane tanks. I think the allure for Angel's is that they make their tortillas fresh. Makes a huge difference when your tortilla was pressed from masa right before they went on the flat top. Also, they LOAD your tacos up with plenty of meat and salsa. You will not be cheated here. Offerings are pretty much the same as any other similar spots: asada, pastor, cabeza, etc. The pastor is also on a spit. You can order your tacos with queso fried in them or without. Got four of these bad boys: two pastor and two asada. The verdict? Pastor was OK. Not too much flavor though. Asada was just OK too. Nothing outstanding. Just solid. My only complaint is that they load you up with too much toppings that they pretty much drown everything. At this point, they are no longer street tacos. Tip: decline the salsa and toppings; just put your own on as they have a salsa table to the side. Anyway, solid spot but nothing to write home about in an already oversaturated taco market.

It didn't sound like a one-off situation. It sounded like verbal abuse to me. I later learned she was his wife and that they own the shop together. I asked to speak with him and asked why he was repeatedly telling a woman to "shut the f up." He immediately started yelling at me and told me not to meddle in his business. I reminded him that I wasn't in his home. I was a customer at his business, where I could clearly hear him loudly berating a woman. I told him this was disrespectful and unprofessional, and he continued to berate me as other customers arrived. He then put his arm tightly around his wife's shoulders and repeatedly shouted "you're fine, right?" while she looked visibly uncomfortable. Another customer who witnessed his disturbing behavior left. Needless to say, the ambiance was terrible. When I left, he came outside still yelling and again admitted to telling his wife to shut the f up. I don't feel good writing this review, but I feel it's important to share my experience. What I witnessed was not normal. Felix's behavior in the video is honestly embarrassing, disturbing, and seemed like an everyday thing for him. Out of respect for his partner, I won't be sharing it.
