A delightful dining experience!! El Patio de Mario was a lunch stop during an El Tuito (and environs) road trip. And "wow" was it good!!
The restaurant has a couple of sidewalk (smaller) tables, and about 6+ (larger) tables, set in a lovely courtyard in the back - where we sat for our lunch, amongst the trees, flowers, and caged caged parrots and doves.
There was no written menu, our server told us what was available for the day, and we placed our orders. And what a meal it was!! What we had: beers, lemonades, and agua frescas, served with appetizers of dried/unsalted flour tortillas, salsa's, and creamed-cheese (yum!!!), plus, a plate of fresh fruits (mango, orange, lime) -- and entrees of: an East Indian style beef dish, with tomatoes, onions, and etc., and rice -- coconut shrimp, huge, jumbo blue shrimp, eight of them on the plate!!, with rice, and etc. -- red snapper fillets, large portion, both sides of the fish, with rice, and etc. All dishes were served up with baskets of toast and corn tortillas, and very friendly and accommodating service!! The total cost for our 'feast' was 579 pesos, for the works, for five of us!!
A wonderful meal in El Tuito - good food, well-prepared and presented, inexpensively priced, and great service - everything so much enjoyed. We could not have found a better place for lunch that day!! read more
