We discovered Amigos a couple years ago, when seating was very limited, but they recently expanded and the decor is more inviting and authentic. We've tried a lot of things on this menu and have never been disappointed. Our food has always been fresh and plentiful, served with a smile. Two things I can ecstatically recommend: their house guacamole and their margaritas. Their hearty and bold guacamole is made fresh to order right at your table and it's become our favorite guacamole. We love their mango margaritas. We have found chunks of mango in ours, and make certain to always get the rims coated with tajin because they use tamarind to get the spice to stick to the rim--so tasty! This is a really enjoyable restaurant we always look forward to visiting!

The food was incredibly authentic - I tried the birria burrito, a menu item I've never come across before. It was phenomenal, the consommé was to die for. I was drinking it like soup; it was perfect. This fell short, as it seems it was prepared days ahead of time - lacked in freshness. Still good though, just not the best. Our server was super friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was like any authentic Mexican restaurant, nothing unexpected. Overall this place definitely satisfied the craving for some Mexican food, and I would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

The cocktails are creative, balanced, and reasonably priced -- I had the hibiscus mezcal margarita, which had an incredible depth of flavor. For my main, I ordered the Cena de Tacos, which comes with your choice of two out of five sides. I went with a creamy corn bowl and a side of Mexican rice -- both rich, flavorful, and comforting. My wife ordered the shrimp bowl with rice, which was just as delicious. What really stands out here is the authenticity -- every bite tastes like it was crafted with care and respect for traditional Mexican cooking. The interior is classy and modern, yet relaxed enough to feel comfortable. I also love the thoughtful touch of their craft beers being named after social justice initiatives. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Despite the restaurant being nearly full -- she was quick to serve. If you're looking for genuine Mexican flavors served in an elegant but welcoming setting, Battleground is a must-visit.

But alas, I don't think we will return to The Battleground. The service was awkward. The hosts and our waiter were, for a lack of better words, socially awkward young men dressed like they just left school and may have tossed their backpacks behind the hostess stand. It was a weird contrast for the slightly upscale prices and interior they present. The waiter seemed nervous, which, in itself isn't a bad thing, but they awkwardly lingered when it wasn't necessary and was hard to get their attention when we needed our check and to pay the bill. The food and drinks were a mixed review. The Battleground margaritas were delicious. The chips and salsa were not great, we mostly got a basket of tortilla shards. My partner got three tacos--carne azada, al pastor, and fish. His big takeaway was, "they're not very hot (temperature) and they're kind of bland." Similarly, we got the margs "spicy," but my Texas palate said, "this is spicy?" It had a tajin rim, from what I can figure. ...Maybe we're not the normal Ohioan clientele. A bright note, the refried black beans and esquites were awesome and the esquites big enough to share. I ordered the Pescado Veracruz, the plating and sides were good but the mahi mahi was chewy and only slightly above room temperature. Like I said earlier, maybe I did myself a disservice by hoping to find my new favorite Mexican restaurant... but, I just don't see us going back for great margaritas and sides.

When they arrived, they were told the employee who made the reservation was no longer with the restaurant and that they had "no recollection" of the rehearsal dinner being on the calendar. Mistakes happen, but what was most disappointing was the way the situation was handled. Instead of trying to make it right, the staff was extremely rude and dismissive. Rule number one in owning a restaurant should be taking responsibility when a mistake happens and doing everything you can to make it right. We understand that employees leave and things can get missed, but the restaurant's response was what was most disappointing. There was no real attempt to take ownership of the situation or accommodate the family. This was an important family event, and they were left scrambling because the restaurant failed to honor a reservation that had been confirmed. Why would a restaurant choose to lose the business of an entire rehearsal dinner party rather than make an effort to accommodate the situation? But don't worry--we found another place at the last minute, and they were amazing! They went above and beyond to accommodate our family and made what could have been a very stressful situation into a wonderful evening. So thankful we ended up somewhere that truly valued our business. Very disappointing experience with Habaneros and definitely not the level of customer service you would expect from a restaurant.
