Breakfast/lunch place. It's a family run business that cares about the food they put on the table. We had breakfast and it was fantastic. The bacon is nice and thick, cooked appropriately. The eggs, chorizo beans, toast, and even the hash browns came out delicious. Ambiance/atmosphere reminds me of an old school country Mexican food place. Absolutely love it. Wait staff are friendly and personable. Prices are fair. Monday special (2egg, bacon, toast, hash browns, and beans for 6 bucks) is an absolute bargain IMO. read more

Delicious local restaurant serving hand made Mexican food. Service was so friendly. Almost all the guests seemed to be locals and most knew each other. It's a bit off the beaten path but worth cruising down Garcia Street for a touch of real Port Isabel. The prices are a fraction of what you pay in South Padre Island. Nothing fancy but a great experience. read more

Tucked away near the drawbridge in Port Isabel, this is one of the best mom-and-pop Tex-Mex restaurants in town. The amazing owner, Elda, is often out front welcoming guests with her warm smile, making everyone feel right at home. The staff is always kind, friendly, and attentive. The welcoming atmosphere and delicious food give us that cozy, homey feeling that keeps us coming back again and again. Highly recommended! read more

Lots of locals eat here so you know it's good!! Not fancy by any means but the breakfast burritos are huge and delish!!!

We just woke up from having a great night on the island and were super hungry. I found El Papa's on Yelp with a bunch of good reviews so we decided to check it out. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. We sat ourselves and enjoyed the quiet bustle of a mom and pop restaurant. I ordered the Spanish Omelette with hash browns, frijoles and a flour tortilla. All of it was delicious! Hands down the best meal on my visit to Port Isabel. Wow, amazing meal for such an unassuming restaurant. Flavorful food, great service, and of course meals are always better when you are with family. I would definitely recommend this hidden gem to anyone in and around SPI. read more

Down home Mexican breakfast. Friendly service and homey atmosphere. I had Juevos rancheros, and pancakes. All very good. I'll be back.

Honestly, this may have been the best breakfast I've ever had! The Machacado, eggs, refried beans and hash browns were all scratch made! The orange juice was freshly squeezed. But the ultimate..... the 10" homemade flour tortillas!!! No fork needed here in Tejas!!! Wife ordered huevos rancheros with the works and that huge tortilla. Two coffees. Total bill $28. Folks, you have to come here if you visit Padre Island. read more

This was our second time coming here in the past 2 vacation trips to port Isabel. Super friendly service. Food came out quickly. We went 2x for breakfast during this years vacation. It's the perfect place to start our morning before heading to the beach. They do get busy quickly, so the earlier the better. The tacos are very big, kept us full throughout the morning for sure! Tortillas made in house. Very reasonable prices too. Perfect for bigger groups and families. They have a little something for everyone. We will go back next time we visit. read more

El Papa's - Breakfast taco. Potato egg & bean. (The toast isn't included, those were my daughters that she didn't want) - Mexican Near Me - Port Isabel, Texas

Great family owned business. Food was fresh and authentic Mexican cooking. Tortillas are as large as a medium pizza. Get there early and don't leave behind your appetite. We definitely will be back. Serving breakfast and lunch only. read more

This is a small personal cafe. The wait staff seem like family but the food is great. We had the breakfast taco. Mine was the one with all the meats and Jeanie got the fajita one. The homemade flour tortillas are the way to go - probably makes the whole meal. They even had hot serranos they grilled and added to our meals! I love hot stuff. We will be going back. read more

Went for a midweek breakfast. It was busy but we got a table right away. Both got the breakfast tacos and a cup of coffee. Tacos were more like burritos as they were huge. Delicious too especially with the salsa. My husband had chorizo and egg while I had bean, egg, cheese, and potato. The tortilla was the star of the meal- tender and chewy in the perfect way. read more

Went for a few breakfast tacos and was not disappointed! The flour tortillas were soft and fresh and they were not stingy with filling them at all! The staff was very friendly and attended us quickly! The restaurant was small but cozy and the second sitting area seemed to come in handy because it got busy pretty quickly and for good reason! The food was great! My family and I enjoyed our food! Definitely going back for lunch or breakfast again in the near future! read more

Food was good but took 40 minutes to get it. Waitress never checked back after food served, even with check. Ordered dessert, got 3 of 4 items we ordered, but were charged for 4! read more

Family owned restaurant w great Mexican food and breakfast specials. Our family enjoyed their French toast w bacon Wed breakfast special (only 5$!) and I had their breakfast taco (more like a burrito). There was a little wait for the food around 20-25 min but it was worth it. Food was really tasty and no corners were cut. Tortillas and salsa were on point. French toast was top tier. Even the bacon it came with was thick cut and crispy, not at all skimpy. Prices are low. Very casual mom and pop vibes, had the older tables covered w Mexican tablecloths and plastic, Mexican streamers on the wall. Very homey and quaint. Was already quite full on a Wednesday morning around 1030 am but we were able to get seated right away. Service was very good. Would definitely come here again. read more

If you want breakfast taco's this is by far the best of the best. We ate there every morning during our stay as we will next year. They are very gracious with their food portions. One breakfast taco's will more than fill your need for food. Awesome food. I love the Egg, Chorizo, cheese, and beans taco. Everyone is very friendly. read more

BEST breakfast. Tortillas are great, beans have the best flavor. We have been here a few times and the food is consistently great. We were only here a week but came here twice because it's so good. Husband got a side of shrimp with breakfast and said they were so good and fresh. Elda, the young lady who waited on us was super friendly. Always smiling and greeting everyone. You can tell she loves being there. It's a family business. Her Dad catches the shrimp, Mom cooks, Aunts help too. How cool is that?!! Highly recommend!! read more

Really good place to eat. Food is generally above average. The refried beans are spot on and properly cooked with lard. Tortillas are good but need a touch more salt. Bacon is mediocre unfortunately. They use thin sliced unsmoked bacon. Service was a bit slow. read more

Such an amazing spot to eat it! Mom had the Big Mama plate, sister had the fish tacos, and I have the Carne Guisada taco. Everything tasted homemade and so good! The taco was bigger than the plate they served it on! The one thing that was even better than the food was the hospitality the workers gave! We had 2 kids with us as well and were told it would be around a 45 minute wait and were considering leaving because the kids were hungry and the server told us they would get out the kids plate fast and in a hurry if we did stay! They did just as they said they would and they were so attentive and friendly the whole time here! I've never had better service anywhere else! 10/10 hands down! read more

Make this resturant a stop when in area. Our order included breakfast burritos of machaca, bean and cheese and potato and egg. They were large. They were tasty. Very hot (temperature) how I like it. Fresh home made tortillas. The food was not overly salty or greasy. And the salsa was perfect, flavorful woth out over doing the heat and just tasked good. Great little family business. Will stop by next time in area. Only regret, wish we would grabbed more. read more

The restaurant has kind of a hole in the wall feel to it but it was clean and the staff was awesome. We enjoyed our food, the beef in the taco was a little bland. The kids liked the food a lot too. I wouldn't call it as seasoned as we would have liked but it was good food overall. read more

El Papa's - Good morning Port Isbell. - Mexican Near Me - Port Isabel, Texas

A very nice & "down home" family run restaurant for the last 35 years! Staff was attentive and very friendly but not over bearing. We went on a Friday for lunch & the special for the day was fried shrimp or fried fish with either French fries or rice & beans. Shrimp was excellent with a nice crispy crust and was not heavy on the batter. My wife chose the shrimp special and I could not resist ordering the "Texas size fajita taco" with lettuce, tomato & avocado slices!!!! The flour tortillas are freshly made in-house and huge. I highly recommend it! We will definitely be back when we're in the SPI / Port Isabel area again. By the way, their menu prices are very, very reasonable and you get a nice generous serving each time!!! read more
