We were on our way back to Houston from Brownsville, so we searched for best Mexican Breakfast in Harlingen. It was a little off Hwy 69, but worth the detour. My husband had the menudo/barbacoa plate. The menudo/barbacoa plate gets 5 stars from my husband. The menudo tasted like my mom's. Excellent! I ordered the pork chop/egg plate. It came with generous portions, of potatoes and refried beans (flavorful). You may order the pork chop plain as pictured or in ranchero sauce. It came with two homemade corn tortillas. Delicious! The coffee was perfect. The service was very attentive, courteous and friendly to all. Abundant parking. Highly recommended! read more

Blanquita's Mexican Restaurant - Pork Chop, eggs refried beans and potato plate. - Mexican Near Me - Harlingen, Texas

First time here, Both at HRL and Blancitas. This is a small, family type restaurant. I love these kind of places. The rating was good and I haven't had good Tex Mex food in many years. The wait was worth it. I ordered the Puerco lunch. (Per waiters recommendation). Good choice. The serving was just enough. Not too much food. The service was excellent. The food was good. There was a family and friends having a get together and they were having a great time which made my visit fun. Nice to see people having a good time eating and enjoying their family. I love to see it. This was my very first time in HRL and I got a nice impression of the people and this place. I recommend. read more

Loved their barbacoa . Did take a while to be seated but we went on a Sunday morning.

Tried this Mexican Restaurant for breakfast today for the first time and I'm glad I did. It's definitely a little hidden gem in Harlingen. The decor is quite bright and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I chose the Migas Locas (tortilla chips, chorizo, scrambled egg and yellow cheese) that came with refried beans and cubed potatoes with a choice of a flour tortilla. Sounds "weird" but it was pretty good. Let's just say it's easily the only meal of the day. The prices will seem high to some, but food prices are higher. I took off stars only because the restaurant was freezing cold and refills were hard to come by. The women's restrooms were also a bit difficult to get in and out of. Will definitely try again and order something different! read more

Place is a shack. Don't go during peak hours as they rush your order out not cooked. Brought it to their attention and were gracious to not charge us. Nonetheless left us with a negative impression of a very popular establishment. Will not return as a result of our experience. read more

Driving back from south padre we wanted some breakfast. Figured it would be nice to hit a mexican restaurant for the authentic feel. Saw the reviews here and decided to go. I mean. The food was edible. The ice tea was good. The chips and salsa was good. But that was really about it. The tortillas were homemade they seemed but were tough and chewy. Eggs didnt seem cooked and were runny. Pork chop was well a baby pork chop and un flavorful. Idk. I just figured well this place has been here since 1950. Must be good. I left thinking. How have you been open since the 1950's. Staff was slow. Took more than once to ask for something before we received it. First it was water. Then tea. Then silverware. Then salt and pepper. Idk. Hopefully we just came on a bad day. read more

Stopped by on our way home from SPI. It was Sunday. The place was busy. We had a small wait for 2 people. The staff is friendly & the place is clean. The food is good. Where I feel this place needs improvement is hiring a bus boy to clean up tables to seat your guests who are waiting to be seated. You've got 2 girls trying to do everything from serving, seating, taking orders, cleaning tables, checking up on the customers who are already seated to see if they need anything else. Extra tortillas are $1.99! We had the Huevo Ranchero plate with Barbaquoa. Our waitress never came back to check on us. She forgot our extra tortilla. We had to get the attention of another waitress. You are given a pitcher of coffee at your table I guess so they don't have to come back & serve you. I needed limes had to wait. We had to get her attention for the bill. read more

They're so friendly here! Driving back to Houston and had to make a pit stop for breakfast. Based on the reviews I picked this place. Food is good, the people are great. The ambiance is very "mom and pop". It feels like family. The customer service is what really did it for me though. Excellente! read more

Very good authentic Mexican food. Reminded me of my Moms home cooked meal. Definitely recommend

The service was horrible, and the lady waitress brought back my ranchero plate with no sauce , apparently she said they didn't have the sauce ... she never ask if we needed anything.. my kid bacon and egg taco was not cook properly it was very chewy and way under cook. When I got to the cashier ask if everything was ok .. I said no and I voice my concern and simply just gave me a 10% off the ticket , mind you she said the sauce is optional!! I guess if my daughter gets food poisoning I have evidence..and the owner was just behind her and he didn't say anything... be careful people . read more

Blanquita's is a place I visit every time I'm in Harlingen. They have fantastic breakfast and lunch specials. Today, I got the tampiqueña which comes with beef or chicken fajitas with 2 enchiladas (your choice of cheese, beef, or chicken) and rice and beans. The chicken enchiladas were my favorite thing to eat of everything On the plate. They were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The beef fajitas were awesome as well. Not too chewy. Definitely an amazing place to try! read more

The people are friendly, and the environment is nice for Covid restrictions. Dine in is allowed which is a huge plus. As far as the food goes. The seasoning is bland. We came with a group of 6 and tried various different dishes and our favorite part was the rice and beans. The rest of the dishes were okay I guess. I probably would not come back. read more

RECOMMEND: Chilaquiles taco This is a cute, chill mama-papa place to come to to get a quick, cheap, and fulfilling breakfast! Everything on the menu was cheap and it seems like all the food is pretty decent according to the review. FOOD: --CHIPS AND SALSA: Complementary! If they forget to give them, then just ask kindly! So I am actually loving the trend down here in Harlingen in that the salsa comes out warmed. The green and red salsa are very tasty. The chips actually remind me of the wonton crisps that you would get for your hot and sour soup at Chinese places. Because of that texture, I think I enjoyed the chips even more. --CHILAQUILES TACO: For around $2, you get an enormous taco!!! So if you don't have a big appetite, keep that in mind before ordering two. Such a great deal for the price. The tortilla is one of my favorite parts because the texture reminds me so much of paratha - a flatbread eaten with many Indian/Pakistani cuisines. The inside filling was plentiful and full of egg, onions, tomatoes, cheese, and crispy chips. I love the overlapping soft and crispy textures! Solid breakfast option! read more

Stopped by for breakfast on our way to the Harlingen airport. Really, really good food in a nice, low key atmosphere. We both had the breakfast plate -- eggs and potatoes with homemade tortillas. It tasted like what grandma would cook for you (if grandma was a really good cook). Fast service. Totally recommend. read more

5 stars all day every day. This place is absolutely bomb. If you want some great Mexican food, it's hard to beat.

Mmm just finished eating my pozole and picadillo gordita and it was super good. First time eating pozole and I will order this dish in the future at Mexican restaurants. I'm wondering if their prices were updated as the spread costed me almost ten dollars but the yelp menu said it should cost 8 plus tax. Also with my gordita it said it comes with beans but didn't receive that. The service was super friendly the best I've received in town. read more

We were visiting Harlingen in 2016 from Arizona, our family members invited us to meet them here for breakfast on our last day in the valley. Everyone in our group agrees that this was our best food experience while in Harlingen. We are going back in October and Blanquita's no doubt will be a must stop for us, at least twice! This place always comes up in conversation when any of us remember our trip to Texas. There was 7 of us from Arizona there and literally everyone bragged or talked about the plates they ordered. That really says a lot about this place if you think about it! 6 different meals (2 people ordered the same thing) 7 people and here we are over a year later still talking about it? October cant come soon enough! read more

A great restaurant in San Benito on William s road. Food is always excellent. You may have to wait for a table but it is worth the wait.

Service was vary slow. Other than when our order was taken the waitress never said a word to use. She just dropped off a craft of tea and our food. She never check back with us to see we need anything or how our food was. Food was good for the most part. The fajitas tasted good but, still had the skin on them which made them difficult to chew. I will probably not visit this location again read more

Do not order off the online menu. Called in an order for lunch using the websites menu and when I showed up to pay my total was 3 X the price. Ordered the panchos and a lemonade and paid $19 and change. When the menu online stated $7.99. Really disappointed especially since I actually recommend this place to clients. Order was also prepared carelessly, beans served only on one side, lettuce wilted and ships were stale. Won't be back here, there's plenty of Mexican restaurants around here to choose from. read more

Great Mexican dishes they are authentic as can be. Love it, I will recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Great place for a breakfast! Tacos are huge and come with a side of retried beans. Sweet bread to snack on while you wait and then have a good selection for everyone. Kids really enjoyed the pancakes, would definitely return! read more

Blanquita's is a go-to for me when I want cheap but fantastic Mexican food, making this one of the more high-value Harlingen restaurants. With their soup bar you can choose from three different unlimited appetizers. I got their fideo and charro beans and enjoyed them, even though I always must add quite a bit of salt as a personal preference. I got their breakfast tacos and was pleased with the food and especially with how fast they arrived. The sweet tea is positive but isn't a mandatory drink here (like with Las Vegas Cafe). The waitstaff was courteous and attentive to our needs despite going at a busy hour. I recommend this to all, including those who have had Tex Mex their entire lives. read more

Actually, this review is for the Blanquita's at Old Business 83, which may be Blanquita's Number 3. The service today was horrible. There was no manager, just a waiter and waitresses. As a result, the business was in chaos. I asked a waitress if the manager was missing and she snapped that no one was missing. No one was at the cash register. People who wanted to pay were just standing and waiting. People with to-go orders were standing and waiting. One lady told me she had been waiting for 25 minutes and didn't have any idea if or when her to-go order would be ready. At the tables, people were sitting, do nothing. They had their drinks, but no food. The kitchen seemed to be mass confusion. I would not recommend going there if this is what the restaurant will now be like. I had been going for two years regularly and had never seen anything like what I witnessed today. It was a complete mess. read more

My wife and i have eaten here 4 or 5 times and it's always a hit or miss. We have only been for breakfast. The last two times the food was just ok. The prices are on the high side for these type of items. Seems to be as expensive as Ihop? Lots of old people here, maybe because of the nursing home? Anyway we count 1 point for someone with a cane, two points for a walker and 3 points for a wheelchair. Our last visit we scored 13 points! read more
