First time visiting TJ in years and it was so much fun! I love a good food market hall, and I had…read moreno idea Telefónica even existed. It reminds me of some of the big food halls in Los Angeles (Grand Central Market, Haven City, etc.) packed with delicious food and beverage options. Just a quick Uber ride from the border and you can be munching on fresh ceviche and savoring an ice cold glass of house-made sangria. That's exactly what we ordered! I appreciated the option for indoor or outdoor seating. Since it was an extremely hot and humid day, we opted to sit inside, where the fans were a lifesaver. We ordered drinks at the bar inside and then picked up food from one of the several vendors outside. The staff was welcoming and checked on us several times, even offering our group a large table upstairs, which was a considerate touch. From coffee to pastries, sweets, snacks, wine, beer, seafood, pizza, and everything in between, Telefónica is a great way to start or end your day in TJ. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in town!

My advice, take a cheap UBER instead of driving as parking is not fast. When you arrive take a walk though quickly to get a lay of the land and see what the options are. Maybe grab a michelada on the way in since the bar is right there. I'd pick one or 2 or 3 places to try as long as what you order fits together. the last thing you'd want to eat would be a taco and a hot dog. BE MINDFUL: Realize you are in Mexico. This place wasn't really made for tourists, it's more of a local spot and it's pretty safe. That being said they don't usually care too much about dealing with complaints. Take breath a little bit Karen and enjoy the experience. The tables are open seating, so maybe while you grab food, send your friend to find a table. they also had a cat there that was so chill and wanted to be pet.

On this first visit, I had two beef birria tacos and one beef quesa birria taco. Both types of tacos were delicious. The highlight was no doubt the beef birria on each tacos. It's flavor was beefy and well seasoned, not to mention was bathed in a red chile broth that packed great flavor. I really appreciated the fact that they did not over use the clove like many other places do. It was all about the beef flavor here. The tacos came with fresh chopped cilantro, red onions, and a side of spicy pickled onions with habaneros, sliced cucumbers, lime wedges, and a red and green hots sauces. Both hot sauces were very tasty and offered a medium heat. The brother and sister team are very cool. They mean for you to have a great meal, with friendly service of course. There's plenty of parking. They offer outside eating tables with shade.

I had the quesataco with birria which was packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and completed very well by their red and green salsas. My only suggestion for improvement is the menu needs to list the prices (two quesatacos ended up being about $11). Would definitely return!

I wanted to just wait in the shade until I got hungry again, then order another 5. Hot, fresh... LIGHTLY battered... The pickled red onion slaw topping just sets it all off in a very particular kind of way. My son and I ordered 8 fish and 1 marlin... I wanted to come back the next day and do it again. It was the kind of experience where you want to go as much as possible before it gets too popular and they have to raise their prices. Three bucks American for a fish taco that beats pretty much every other spot I've been to that's charging five bucks and some change. Doña taking orders was made me feel welcomed and appreciated. My Spanish is mas o menos at best, so it can be a little intimidating placing an order. She was patient with me and let me practice my español and even complemented my efforts. I will definitely be back soon.

My favorite were the fish tacos and the shrimp. Everything was fresh and made to order. The spicy shrimp had a crisp taco shell, and was really spicy. I definitely want to try the garlic shrimp taco next time. I loved the freshness and acidity of the aguachile. Perfect for the summer weather. Definitely worth checking out. Great food and the owners are very kind.

There is also a small playground in the middle, which makes this place a great spot for families. My friend's daughter wanted wings, so we ordered some from District. We decided to get food Mercado Norte instead and ordered the huarache de carne asada, flautas, 2 gorditas, and 3 horchatas. I was wondering why it took a long time to get our drinks, but since they ran out of ice, we ended up only get one horchata and had to ask for a refund before we left. The wings were drenched in sauce and were pretty tasty. I only tried the buffalo version, but she also got terriyaki? I liked how Mercado Norte presented our food- it looked pretty and was decorated nicely. Everything we ordered was delicious and very filling. The staff were helpful, the fries were great, and he enjoyed the hot dog. He also got a large sushi roll from Ryokan which he said was a high quality tuna. The bar, Tepoztecatl, might have been our favorite stop. It has a good selection of beer and a really sweet woman bartender. We didn't try every restaurant today but I am sure we will. 5 stars for El Jardín.
