The inside is nicely decorated and definitely captures that nostalgic, old-school feel. Our waitress came over for our drink orders, and I asked if they had Woodford Reserve for an Old Fashioned. She said yes, so I ordered an Old Fashioned and a Double Cheeseburger. My wife ordered a Dirty Martini and the Prime Rib. The drinks came first. I was disappointed to find that my Old Fashioned was made with a different whiskey. If the waitress had come back and told me they didn't carry Woodford Reserve, I would have gladly chosen something else. Instead, I received an Old Fashioned made with something other than what I specifically ordered. My wife's Martini was okay, so I figured we'd give dinner a chance. Unfortunately, dinner was just as disappointing. My wife's Prime Rib was barely warm and extremely salty. The au jus was also incredibly salty. Her meal came with a salad, vegetables, and a small, roughly 2-inch round piece of bread. Of everything on her plate, she said the salad was the only thing she actually enjoyed. My Double Cheeseburger was barely warm as well. The bun was dry and fell apart, almost as if it had been over-toasted. We each took only a couple of bites before deciding we'd rather just get the check and leave. Unfortunately, that turned into another frustrating part of the experience. It literally took about 30 minutes to get our check, and the restaurant wasn't even crowded. It's disappointing because I always thought of the Rustic Inn as one of those San Bernardino places that had been around forever--a place you went for a good drink, dinner, and a little nostalgia. Maybe at one point the Rustic Inn was the place to go. Based on our experience, unfortunately, that time appears to have passed.

For starters, the food was amazing! Nearly every person in attendance that night commented on how good their food was. When we tracked the phone to the club and the people inside it led us to the dj booth and when her bf confronted them, they all denied it and kept passing the phone around to different people. Dj aura was in on it because he kept deflecting and after we notified the bouncer and came back, he came up to the bf and the tracking app said "here." At the end, my girlfriend pickpocketed one dudes pocket who had like 5 phones in his pocket and was able to snatch hers. Be very careful of this venue and especially of dj aura. Shame on the bouncer who refused to do anything about it.

I hope one day to see them on the stage so I can say, "I got to see them when they were small fries." The Vault hosts a lot of events, including musical open mic nights. I still prefer Writers Block's open mic night (the first Wednesday of every month). I am shocked that the event is free, with how talented the poets are. I have bought several books from one of the local poets (shout out to Winry Hagerty!!) who sells her work at the poetry event. The last time I went there were stickers from an artist, some leather works, books by poets for sale. The atmosphere at The Vault during Open Mic Night is vibrant and supportive. The audience is engaged and respectful, providing an encouraging environment for the performers to shine. It's worth noting that this event is not only entertaining but also affordable. It's free. I had been in there for literally 3 minutes at that point. And if I wanted to do that shit, my car was right outside. I tried to explain to him that I had just returned back inside from a smoke, but all he did was threaten to kick me out for literally NO FUCKING REASON. I am transgender, and while this used to be one of my favorite spots, I will never be returning. I have been made to feel unsafe and unwelcome at this bar and I regret the fact I spent money on beer just to calm my fucking nerves after the incident.
