Mercado Hidalgo is that bustling market that sells pretty much every sort of (Mexico-adjacent) food one can imagine as well as a wide assortment of other things. It's picturesque, stimulating, and colorful and I'm not sure we have anything equivalent in the US. All the more reason to visit. I walked out with Mexican candy (a safe bet) and a brain full of images of this large place knowing that I'll settle - a bit sadly - for a state-side Shrimp Cocktail now that I'm back at home.

Also on the recommendation of our Airbnb host, we both tried the Boing! juice in mango and it was delicious. It's made with real fruit, so there's nothing artificial in it. Well worth a taste! We also ordered the omega salad, which was very well balanced, and the curry chicken, which was very tasty and had a Mexican twist with adobo flavours and guacamole. We finished with the deconstructed pie, which, yes, some people find deconstructing meals passé, but in this case I found it valid, as the lemon curd was very bright and the raspberries and mint leaf were surprising - I don't even like mint normally and I loved it. That said, the second time around it was an utter disappointment.
