As I had stated with my review of Bayonna in New Orleans, the menu is a rarity in that I would want to order everything on the menu. You will find French bistro classics such as Croque Monsieur, Steak Frites, and Onion soup. There is something for everyone, although I have to say that their liver pate is not to my taste, though it is delicious (it is too sweet and less savory than I prefer). The texture is wonderful. The Croque Monsieur is amazing. Whether under an umbrella or the pergola, El Vergel makes for a lovely, relaxed luncheon, and a nice break from the delicious Mexican food available all over SMA. Parking was easy by the street guys wearing green vests they will direct you and when you leave you tip them easy enough. I went in through a side and went across the produce and meat section had to go fast since its smells like well raw blood and such. Then entered this pavilion where all the kitchens are, here you get to walk around and find whatever catches your eye. I settled to this placed called Cocina Carmelita Booth 408 i think. Food seemed the freshest and i wanted to try everything but couldnt. so main stuff. plate was full and gave me fresh out the machine tortillas. If you want a true fonda experience come try this. food is really fresh since is made right in there and the ingredients are bought next door. I was done in no time and was delicious. I have to come back and try my other options there. menudo, tortas and such but i will be on next time.
