El Vergel is a small French bistro outside of San Miguel de Allende, GTO Mexico. It is an easy…read moreUber or cab ride (roughly $8-ish USD) from Centro on the highway to Dolores Hidalgo.
As I had stated with my review of Bayonna in New Orleans, the menu is a rarity in that I would want to order everything on the menu. You will find French bistro classics such as Croque Monsieur, Steak Frites, and Onion soup. There is something for everyone, although I have to say that their liver pate is not to my taste, though it is delicious (it is too sweet and less savory than I prefer). The texture is wonderful. The Croque Monsieur is amazing.
Whether under an umbrella or the pergola, El Vergel makes for a lovely, relaxed luncheon, and a nice break from the delicious Mexican food available all over SMA. Reservations are encouraged if you do not wish to take a chance on table availability.
