I LOVE THIS PLACE! this place is amazing!!! My grandmother and I are regulars here, we come about two or three times a month and we love it, it's very cheap if you know your way around the menu! The staff and service is fantastic and friendly! You get free refills on salsa and drinks and they have a very open drink option and don't get me started on the mild salsa, it's one of the best things there! The place is very nicely decorated with a very nice Mexican style build and decore, they decorate for almost every holiday! El nopal location in Shepherdsville right off the expressway exit. Location I have visited on and off for what has at least been ten years or so. El nopal is a very popular and rapidly growing Mexican food establishment that has to have over 20 local locations now. I can remember 15-20 years ago when there was only one and it was a little known establishment. So props to them on growing so much locally. Maybe they can keep branching out. To me personally el nopal food is 5 star all day. Greet few chips and salsa. I love there enchallidas supremas meal and over the years everything I've tasted has been top notch and good. Its really good genuine and cheap Mexican food. So basing off locations alone this one loses a star because they don't have the best service. I have a few friends who live in the Shepherdsville area and when we meet up and they want Mexican this is the best local spot. Compared to the other el nopals I've been to (i wanna say 4-5 different ones on a regular basis) this has the worst service. They are consistently slower and Mess up the orders more then other locations. This location is a decent sized one and offers some patio seating that the other ones don't. So the decor and setup is nice and like the others the food is great! This particular location service skills just aren't up to par with the others. Overall all el nopals are great! I'd recommend anyone who hasn't tried them to give it a shot. As stated cheap, authentic And tasty Mexican food. El Nopal is a Louisville treasure and this location did not disappoint. Our server was extremely kind and welcoming, as was the entire staff. We did wait longer than any other El Nopal... and by that I mean literally like 10 minutes max! (How do they always get the food out so fast?!) The food is top tier. This is always a great Mexican food experience. I really love the atmosphere and the service is fast. They offer big 36 ounce beers for cheap price as well. I usually get the combination number 11, which is one burrito, one taco, and one enchilada. It is so good for $8.99. With all that food and free chips and salsa this is an excellent deal. Came here for a bite to eat with friends. First of all the margaritas are delicious and very dangerous. Second for lunch the portions Are on the larger size. Third service was great. despite it being pretty busy for a weekend we were taken care of quickly. Fourth free chips and salsa. I rest my case. Service was mediocre and the food wasn't much better. The waiter came fairly often, but never spoke to us aside from taking our order. We waited for quite a while for the check to arrive and it never did. In the end we had to go to the front counter to pay and they seemed surprised that our check hadn't arrived. I hit this place with my boss' boss for lunch, and had the Macho Burrito. I hadn't ever heard of a deep fried burrito before, but now that I have... I want every burrito to be deep fried. The server was awesome. Very attentive, considerate, and cute as a button. My glass never went empty, and when it got messy, a stack of napkins appeared as if summoned by magic. Its been on of the best Mexican restaurant, i may miss this if i found my hotel room in Louisville. This restaurant is walkable distance from my hotel comfort inn. We tried a whole tilapia sizzling dish I felt as same as my grand maa make as their country style cooking. I missed my spanish school friends, who like this kind of food. I got carry out last night, my first night eating at this location, I got a Burrito meal with Cheese sauce , I got my husband tacos , my Burrito was so dry and barely had any sauce on it I nearly chocked trying to eat it , my husband did like his tacos , so I called and they said you should have asked for more sauce???
