    Vegan fajita on the menu

Oh my goodness what a great find in Seymour. First of all I have to travel to Seymour for work occasionally and usually don't even stay in town. I stay closer to Indy. However this week I was leaving at lunch time and hungry. Happy cow app directed me to this place as I am vegan and it said they had decent vegan options. Wow just wow, I was blown away. They had 2 vegan entrees and very reasonably priced. Chips and salsa were also served. Now this vegan burrito was gargantuan I can usually eat my meal but I had to take half of it with me. I was there for a late lunch, around 2 pm so not many people there so can't speak to peak periods. But I imagine this is a popular place just based on how good my food was. I will be back. Plenty of parking.

This is just like every other El Nopal. You already know what you are going to get then you visit an El Nopal location. I ordered my usual, the combination 20 and so did my friend. She arrived before I did and requested a hotter salsa. They had ghost pepper salsa! Whoa! This packs a powerful bite! Great service! Wish they had drink specials.

Mucho portions of tasty Mexican grub for poco dinero. Nice variety on the menu. Friendly and efficient services, quick service. They definitely kept the baskets of chips and bowls of salsa coming for our group. The hot salsa has great flavor and was hot enough to please those of us who like it hot, others in our group mixed the hot and mild salsas together to suit their taste. The fajita were served sizzling and all the other food was very hot and fresh. Clean, attractive dining room. I would recommend this as the best restaurant we have found in this area.

Whenever I am visiting Seymour and in the mood for Mexican, we make it a point to go to El Nopal. The service is always really fast and friendly, and the food is delicious. The atmosphere is very casual and it is a great family restaurant. There is a bar for the adults and serve huge margaritas if that's what you are in the mood for. When you sit down you are immediately served chips and two kinds of salsa- one mild and one a little spicier. Both are really good especially with their warm chips. Be warned, it is very easy to accidentally fill up on the chips and salsa. If you still have enough room in your tummy, the steak fajitas are always a favorite for my husband and my go-to entree is "Monica's platter." Its grilled chicken and shrimp with rice and white queso. I always get the queso on the side. The portions are very generous. I will definitely be returning the next time I am in town.

    Shrimp Fajitas Lunch $10.

The food is ok. Service can be hit or miss. The manager there isn't very nice at all either.

I ordered some guacamole to go with my chips for a starter. I enjoyed it, but, a word of caution--their guacamole has more jalapeños in it than most Mexican restaurants I've been to all over America. Still, I liked it and ate it all. For the main course I went off the reservation, ordering something that wasn't on the menu, cheese enchiladas. I chose the green tomatillo sauce and the enchiladas were better than most. I'm a bit spoiled, coming from San Diego where the Mexican food is authentic, but this was definitely better than most places make. It's got a beautiful mural on the wall. I personally wouldn't have chosen to have the large TV playing MMA bouts, but it wasn't my restaurant.

The soft tacos are flavorful but on the small size. Some of the entrees are a little pricey but portions are large. My beverage of choice was the aqua de Pina. The chip salsa was mild but ok. The servers are very attentive and polite. They are connected to the grocery next door where you'll find more items like tamales, chicharrones, grilled ribs and more!

My wife and I were in town for a soccer match (winners!) and needed a late lunch. Our normal go-to…read morespot in Seymour, Larrison's Diner, was closed because it was after 2:00 in the afternoon so we needed something new. Our first choice was a little fish sandwich shop that looked a bit different, but after they turned out to be closed that day we went across the street to San Marcos. And holy heck am I glad we did! It looks like a typical Mexican place inside - bright colors, decor from the same restaurant supply store every Mexican restaurant seems to use, but with the addition of what I would consider the 'nightclub section' with a dance floor, multiple lighting effects and a big video board. It was early afternoon, so obviously that area wasn't in use but I bet it's an interesting place after dark! Service was great - quick to the table, easy refills on everything. My wife ordered the Chimichanga and I went against my norms and did the 'create your own' platter and chose three items: Burrito, Chimi, and another Chimi. This was strategic because USUALLY when you see a 'create your own' that means tiny sized items - half a burrito, half a chimi, etc. - figured I wanted more chimi than burrito. Seems they don't do that here. My platter was HUGE. Full-sized beef burrito, delish. TWO full-sized beef chimichangas. Also delish. Plus beans and rice. I even did something I never do: Asked for a box to take an entire chimichanga home with us. Wife loved hers as well. This is a must-repeat. In fact, Larrison's may be the past and this place is my future the next time I'm in Seymour. Which is likely never, but if we are anywhere nearby, we'd make a side trip to eat here again.

If we lived in Seymour I'd be here weekly. To start, the chips were just made and the accompanying salsa had a delightfully different flavor. Together just perfect. I had the Shrimp Vera Cruz which was shrimp and sliced potatoes in a nicely spiced red sauce and served with a salad and rice. My wife ordered the Carnitas Street Tacos served with rice and refried beans. The carnitas were perfectly grilled. The taco shells were also so fresh. Our server was very attentive and friendly throughout our meal.
