Wow, what a find in this little town. We were on an overnight stop and had a desire for Mexican food. The menu is very extensive and the establishment was very busy (always a good sign). Our wives ordered pork tamales ala carte and I ordered a beef taco, and 2 beef enchiladas with queso. At the last moment, I ordered 2 birria tacos with spicy salsa and my BIL ordered a steak burrito with no salsa. The tamales ( although pork) came with a ground beef sauce which they said was excellent. The burrito was ok, but he said it definitely needed the salsa and then it would've been perfect. The ground beef taco and enchiladas were spot on, but the birria tacos were . Some of the best I've ever had. The spicy salsa is not for the faint of heart as it has a kick, but delicious. If you're in the area and hungry for Mexican food, you will not go away hungry. read more

The chicken tortilla soup is over the top! Large bowl, not for the light appetite. Very flavorful and satisfying. Definitely a repeat order item for us. If dining in the area, it is well worth the visit. read more

Being from CA, I can't say I usually choose Mexican food in smaller towns, but the first win for El Molcajete was that it was open on New Year's Day. The second win was the sweet servers. We ordered the taco salad with chicken (reliable and yummy), chimichanga with chicken (pretty good) and the carne asada street tacos (WOW ). My husband loves spicy salsa and upon request, the staff brought out a sauce that I KNEW would please - I was right. We truly enjoyed the friendly, classic taco shop vibe and delicious food. If we ever come thru again, this will be a place we stop! read more

I've eaten a lot of nasty food but this restaurant really takes the cake. Our regular Mexican restaurant closed before we got to town today so we decided to try another one. Big mistake, McDonald's would have been better. We walked in, we weren't greeted first off, should have turned around right then but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. A waitress walked over and brought us all 6 inches to the booth directly next to the door in a near empty restaurant. We ordered cheese dip to go with the salsa since the salsa was pretty sad looking, the kicker? The cheese dip was cold. We ordered a burrito and a chimichanga, in comparison to the chimichanga I normally order at La Chiquita it was a quarter of the size if not more and more expensive! If you want Mexican food in Clarksville I highly recommend the la Chiquita down the road. read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant here in Clarksville. The food is always delicious and the servings are big. I love the Mexican shrimp cocktail, Marie's special and the chicken tortilla soup. We all go together as a family or individually on a regular basis. Come see for yourself. You will not be disappointed. Great service good people. read more

This local place was recommended by several people from the area that I was working with. I was not disappointed. I stopped in between lunch and dinner, where only a couple of regulars were hanging out enjoying their Mexican soup. I was seated immediately and given chips and salsa. The chips were fresh, thin, crisp, warm, salty. About perfect. The salsa was also very good, although I would prefer a bit more heat. I ordered the shrimp burrito and it was brought out very quickly. It was pretty tasty. The cheese sauce was very good, but the veggies didn't add anything to the burrito. Not sure if they needed more seasoning or what. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, which I have found to be unusual; they're usually cooked to the point of being rubber. The meal was very inexpensive (under $7) and service was very quick. I did not order a drink as they did not have any tea, which is what I had a thirst for. If I had spent more time in the area, I would have definitely gone back. read more

While driving along Rt. 40 we stopped in Clarksville for some lunch and stumbled into this place. True Mexican food is always a suprise and this was a pleasant suprise. Some great chips and good salsa was the first to arrive. A massive amount of chips for two people. My wife had the chicken and beef fajia and I had a pork taco and a chicken enchliata combo. The taco was a bit bland but everything else was spot on. Since it was lunch both meals were a real bargin. The servers were attentive and very helpful. The decor was simple, yet set a great atmosphere. If you are in the area, check this place out if you are in the mood for Mexican. read more

We are local and we love eating here! One of the best Mexican Restaurants around. In fact, when we go on trips, my wife seldom wants to eat at a Mexican restaurant because they are never as good as our local. There will be times that something is wrong or service struggles because of it being over crowded but all in all it's wonderful! And if there's a problem, they always make it right! read more

Located right in the middle of Clarksville I am lucky to have them here (considering I just moved here from New Orleans) Their food was really good, true Mexican. I played it safe and just got the Nachos Supremo plate, but everything about it was AWESOME! My boyfriend got some other breaded meat with onions and fajitas and all the fixings and that was DELISHHHH! Everything on the menu looked so good so next time I go I definitely will NOT hold back. The chips and salsa they served were so good. But to top this meal off a Dos Equis or Margarita would have been FABULOUS!..considering it is a dry county though, this place will definitely be a go to spot for me! read more

Stopped here coming back from Memphis to NW after a Hog Liberty Bowl victory! I expect Mexican food to be spicy. My red enchilada sauce tasted like it came from a can.... A Campbell's tomato soup can at that! Rice was bland. Son ordered a shrimp chimichanga that came with 4 tiny shrimp in it despite it being about ten inches long. Sides like guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes didn't taste fresh. Service was good and restrooms were adequate. For the people who say this is authentic Mexican food.... It may be... The service was terrible and the food tasted anything but authentic. I was seated, brought my drink and chips and dip and then waited almost 10 minutes before anyone took my order. It was a late lunch, so it wasn't busy at all. One waiter looked around the corner, made eye contact and then sat down at a booth by the cash register and started playing on his phone. I started to leave and then got curious about how long it would take for someone to wait on me, so I stayed. A waiter finally arrived and took my order. I played it safe and got a burrito and a chorizo taco. The flour tortilla for the burrito and corn tortilla taco shell were obviously store-bought. The chorizo taco was actually a ground beef taco, but I couldn't tell my waiter, because he never came back to check on me. When I went to pay, I looked for the manager as I walked to the register. He was crouched behind the register stand playing on his phone, while my waiter was still nowhere to be seen. If you want authentic Mexican food and good service, there has to be a better Mexican restaurant in Clarksville. read more
