Great food at reasonable prices. The best place to eat when visit Nogales. Will be back next time!

This is a family favorite in nogales, Sonora. El marcos has excellent service, the food is delicious. Closes late. Lots of parking space. They validate your parking ticket. Safe. Also hosts parties. Sometimes has live music when there's a party or event.

We've treated ourselves to lunch at El Marcos during many work trips when we had at least 1.5 if not 2 hours to kill. They make the salsa fresh at the table, and they'll make it as spicy as you'd like. On our most recent visit, when 3 gringos asked for spicy, they didn't believe us. The first bowl was what I would call medium, but the second bowl, when we said spicier, was hot. You also get a "shot" of warm tomato soup to start. The menu has a little bit of everything. Sonora is known for their steak, but I can't eat that in the middle of the day and have any productivity when we go back to work, so I usually get something chicken. My most recent visit was pounded-thin chicken breast grilled with beans, verde sauce, and cheese on top - delicious! Still Mexican flavors, but not quite as heavy. They do a lot table side, and one of my colleagues always gets the shrimp that they cook at your table. To finish, they bring you a "shot" of a sweet cafe/kaluha/foam with cinnamon digestif. The perfect end to the meal. The parking lot is gated, but not expensive. They take AMEX.

Great Mexican restaurant in Nogales. Food and atmosphere was awesome. I had the combination molcajetes and husband had a Sonoran steak. Beef on both was tender and delicious. Ordered spaghetti con mantequilla "off menu" for kid. Kid said it was 2000 out of 100. Oh and fresh salsa made table side! Will definitely come back.

One of the finest restaurants in walking distance from our stay. We really loved Salsa that was made in front of us. We ordered chicken/veg tacos it came with freshly made corn/flour tortillas. We also ended up ordering some raw fish just sautéed in lemon as it was all written in Spanish, we did not realize that it's a raw dish. Chef cooked it for us, but it was over-cooked and we could eat the dish at all. We were given some bread on the house with some cream cheese inside and it tastes delicious. Over all, we had really good food.

This is our new favorite fine dining restaurant on either side of the border! We took nine people on Sunday afternoon (February 10, 2019) to celebrate a birthday. The service was attentive but respectful. They were there if we needed them, but didn't rush us. We were offered menus in English or Spanish. Most waiters were bilingual. The dining room looks like you are outside in a beautiful piazza. Salsa is made to your taste at the table. You are given chips and salsa. We were also given little glasses of gazpacho as starters. The menu is diverse and creative. One of us received their dinner in a molcahete and it was boiling. All of the plates were beautiful and plentiful. After our meal we were given little glasses of a horchata like drink with a few drops of tequila in it. The children were given virgin ones. The final surprise was the bill. It was about half of what we expected. I cannot say enough about this restaurant...try it.

I've never gotten sick and the seafood is really fresh, and the staff is very very sweet. That being said, getting here can be sketchy unless you have a driver. Don't plan on walking here from your hotel. That would be a poor idea and not the restaurant's fault, it is an issue with the area but no that is a fact of life here. If you don't speak Spanish, please make sure someone in your party does as the staff, including management, the times I've been there do not speak English or at least very halting English. Proportions are good and the chips are made on site. My favorite dish is probably their grilled octopus and the Seabass was yummy as well. I stay away from the prawns just as a matter principal so I can't tell you how those were. Every time I've been there someone at the table has gotten crab legs and they've enjoyed those immensely. I did get some scallops this year that were super gritty, but not an issue with a restaurant at all really and the taste was buttery and the texture Perfect, just a little/lot gritty. There are a number of places for gringos to eat in Nogales and once you get tired of the same steakhouse that everyone goes to, this is absolutely a good alternative. Word of caution, as a general point, drink beer out of a bottle or out of a pint glass with no ice. Do not drink anything with ice in Nogales. Really really. if you fail to heed my advice, please send me a note about how sick you got and how right I was so that anybody else reading this will know not to get ice in their drink regardless of the location.

Different waiters kept coming up to my purse that was behind me. CAREFUL because my airpods somehow went missing while I ate. When I tracked them with my phone, it said the airpods were still at the restaurant. I asked the staff for them and they said they didnt have them. I left but continued to track them. The airpods where at the restaurant until closing time then moved locations after the restaurant closed, which means someone from the staff had them with themselves for the rest of their shift and took them home with them. Gave them a one-star because I couldn't give them less.

Walking in honestly feels like stepping into a hacienda. There's a gorgeous fountain in the center and a mix of seating areas - some more loungy if you're just having drinks, others perfect for coffee or a full breakfast. There's even an upper level with a bar-style balcony, which is where we sat, and it was such a great view. They are dog-friendly in the outdoor areas (I had mine in a stroller), and the staff could not have been more accommodating - they even helped me carry her up the stairs. Service overall was amazing. We had multiple servers checking on us, which just shows how well staffed and attentive they are, especially since it was pretty busy with the buffet crowd. We heard their buffet is really good, but we weren't quite that hungry, so we ordered off the menu. I got the huevos rancheros, and I'm not kidding - the beans alone made the whole trip worth it. I don't know what they're doing back there, but they need to keep doing it. The eggs and red sauce were also so good. My girlfriend got the chiles rellenos, and just watching her cut into them with that perfect cheese pull told me everything I needed to know - she confirmed they were delicious. The decor is beautiful and full of Mexican culture, the space feels really inviting, and overall it was just such a great experience. If you're in Nogales and want something nice without going too far into the city, this is literally right across the border and absolutely worth it.

I've been going there for about 10 years, and without fail, their seafood is always consistently delicious. Although most of the locals are probably very aware of this small yet mighty restaurant, it's tucked away in an unassuming location - it doesn't look like much from the outside, but as they say, "Don't judge a book by its cover." I always order the large ceviche, which comes with tostadas, and I also get a side of warm tortillas. When I get that large bowl in front of me, I just can't wait to dig in. But first, I absolutely must put a couple of drizzles of their out-of-this-world made-in-house tamarind hot sauce on top of each bite. I can't begin to describe how amazing this sauce is - just a little sweet, but hot enough to burn your face off. What makes it amazing is it's flavor is so unique and complex. One time I visited, and I saw that there wasn't any hot sauce on the table. I asked the server and he said that they were in the middle of making a new batch. After telling him that I came all the way from Florida for their sauce (and ceviche, of course), the owner came by and sold me a couple of jars of the deliciousness. We had a great conversation about their food, their hot sauce, and how much love they put into their 30 year plus establishment. Back to the food - the shrimp in the ceviche is perfectly bite-sized and always tender, in perfect proportion to all of the other ingredients. The liquid is delicious enough to slurp up at the end of the bowl. I also started ordering the fried shrimp tacos the last few times I went to La Ley. A small plate comes with a simple warm tortilla and perfectly breaded fried 2-3 pieces of shrimp. Their sauces and toppings bar has everything you need to complete the taco - pickled onions, cilantro, tomatoes, onion, etc. With some of their creamy sauce and more of the tamarind hot sauce, each bite is a moment in heaven. Like the ceviche, the shrimp is tender, the breading is fluffy, not oily, and when you put together spicy, creamy, salty, sweet, and sour, you've got one of the most satisfying dishes I can think of. Clearly, I love this place. As I sit here writing this over a thousand miles away (having just visited), I wish I was back in Nogales to visit La Ley.
