This is the nicest restaurant in the Nogales, Sonora area. You have to pay to park at the restaurant but we walked from the nearby Fairfield hotel. There are old fashioned revolving doors when you enter. The inside is beautifully decorated to resemble an outdoor courtyard. I believe the upstairs is for private parties. I also had catered lunch from here brought in at my job nearby. The catered lunch had delicious nopales and cheese quesadillas but these items were not on the menu at the restaurant. I only wish there were more vegetarian options. I asked the waiter and they made me mushroom fajitas served with corn tortillas which just tasted ok. It needed more flavor. They made fresh salsa table side and asked us for our spicy level. We said mild and it was made to our level. We got guacamole too and chips. We had the tamarind agua fresca and tasted ok. read more

Went here for lunch but wasn't impressed by the food. The tortilla chips were stale, the salsa had no salt and tomatoes where bad. I ordered a molcajete of steak in salsa verde, was good but very spicy. My friend ordered the camarones al vapor and they were ok , very salty. Excellent food and stellar Service. If you are a gringo working in Nogales, this is the spot to eat. The interior decor is great and not a single "left over" table in the house. from 2-12 person, the seating and settings are top notch. In 15+ years of going to Nogales and eating here, I have never gotten even the slightest bit ill - It should go with out saying for a 4-star review, but it is Nogales and Americans are not known for our strong restaurant constitutions. It is also in a safe spot after dark. They close late, which can be important for business means here. The beef and the seafood are fresh. Their drink menu/options are good and the have some FINE anejo Tiquilla at the bar. To be on the safe side, I stay away from drinks with ice though. The beer and wine selection is good, but you will not find you small batch Belgium brew or a bottle of Château Pape Clément here. It is pricy for Nogales standards, but inline with TGIFriday prices in the states for food. The alcohol is a little cheaper, but if they open the old stuff, it will still be spendy. Perfect service always. Food amazing. It is a must go in Nogales. Molcajete salsa and bread are really good. Chips are little hard sometimes, but nothing to be worried about it; just tell the person in charge to check it before taking out to public. It a a great restaurant. read more

We've treated ourselves to lunch at El Marcos during many work trips when we had at least 1.5 if not 2 hours to kill. They make the salsa fresh at the table, and they'll make it as spicy as you'd like. On our most recent visit, when 3 gringos asked for spicy, they didn't believe us. The first bowl was what I would call medium, but the second bowl, when we said spicier, was hot. You also get a "shot" of warm tomato soup to start. The menu has a little bit of everything. Sonora is known for their steak, but I can't eat that in the middle of the day and have any productivity when we go back to work, so I usually get something chicken. My most recent visit was pounded-thin chicken breast grilled with beans, verde sauce, and cheese on top - delicious! Still Mexican flavors, but not quite as heavy. They do a lot table side, and one of my colleagues always gets the shrimp that they cook at your table. To finish, they bring you a "shot" of a sweet cafe/kaluha/foam with cinnamon digestif. A quality, go-to spot in Nogales, Mexico, this place is frequented by business people and foodies alike. The meals are well presented and the Caesar dressing, salsa, and guacamole are made tableside. The menu has items that cover the range of steaks, fish, chicken and pastas. One surprise is the "shaved" salmon ceviche which rivals any salmon tartare I've had from Hawaii to the mainland, to France. The serving size is sufficient to make a small meal. They course your meal with a small shot-glass of vegetable soup first before the main meal and the bread is small bread balls with butter injected into the center. After your meal they provide a shot-glass with frothed Kahlua, milk, ice and cinnamon which is nicely cold and refreshing as a finish. Service is excellent. Next to La Roca, El Marcos is one of the best restaurants in Nogales Sonora to catch an awesome dinner at a steal of a price. I come here often for birthday dinners, anniversaries, etc. From brunch with a ton of Mexican breakfast options to a late dinner steak-house, El Marcos has it all. I love the service and how the servers make you salsa to your heat-desire tableside. They even make Caesar salad the traditional way right at your table. One of the finest restaurants in walking distance from our stay. We really loved Salsa that was made in front of us. We ordered chicken/veg tacos it came with freshly made corn/flour tortillas. We also ended up ordering some raw fish just sautéed in lemon as it was all written in Spanish, we did not realize that it's a raw dish. Chef cooked it for us, but it was over-cooked and we could eat the dish at all. We were given some bread on the house with some cream cheese inside and it tastes delicious. This is our new favorite fine dining restaurant on either side of the border! We took nine people on Sunday afternoon (February 10, 2019) to celebrate a birthday. The service was attentive but respectful. They were there if we needed them, but didn't rush us. We were offered menus in English or Spanish. Most waiters were bilingual. The dining room looks like you are outside in a beautiful piazza. Salsa is made to your taste at the table. You are given chips and salsa. We were also given little glasses of gazpacho as starters. The menu is diverse and creative. One of us received their dinner in a molcahete and it was boiling. All of the plates were beautiful and plentiful. After our meal we were given little glasses of a horchata like drink with a few drops of tequila in it. The children were given virgin ones. The final surprise was the bill. This is a great restaurant near the Route 15 and the Nogales Mall. It was a great find as we were staying across the street at the Marriott Fairfield Inn. Food and service was great. Variety! This place has it, whether you're looking for steaks, seafood, italian or Mexican fare. At first, they offer a fresh/grilled salsa made at your table, with you choice of spiceness. They also provide a broth of the day, we got to try the shrimp broth. It was mild in taste, and not too fishy. I ordered the pollo flor de calabaza. Breaded chicken stuffed with pumkin flower, and a nice creamy sauce. Came with patatoes that had a cilantro, crema sauce, and steamed veggies. All of it was nicely seasoned, tender, and well balanced. The presentation is an attempt to be "groumet," but falls short, not horrible, but if they put slightly more effort into it, it would put them at 5 stars. Waiter service is nice, and attentive. This place has the best steak in Sonora. And very good for anything else you might want. There is also a cool bar attached to it and is great for tourists and/or business travelers. On Sundays they have a place for kids and put up a movie screen and show movies and the adults can relax and enjoy a great meal. In fairness to my friend, who is not such a fan as I am, but I make her come here anyway, the servers could be a bit more attentive. Overall, a great plastic and I recommend to all. read more
