I had the chance to eat at El Luchador after seeing it posted on social media. It' lives up to its name with various representations of Mexican wrestling (lucha libre) as well as great decor . The food is all freshly made and there a variety of salsas to meet your dining tastes . I had the Super Birria which had cheese birria in the large fresh corn tortilla. The flavor of the meat was divine and this place is worth the drive if you are wanting traditional Mexican cuisine . The owner greeted us and also explained the traditional Mexican plates to those customers who are used to Tex mex. The people are amazing the food is outstanding And the ambiance is a great place to go have fun and have a Good time with friends and family....BUT. Their hours are a little screwed up I called there and they said they were open but breakfast was Uber and I go there and it's locked I must have heard wrong and the drive through only open but I know they had wrestling this weekend like to drum app some business and I don't know why people don't go here because this place was delicious and I just came from LA to visit and it kicked ass it was such good meat and everything But I don't know why the place was open or unlocked I mean I talked to them 30 seconds before so I hope everything's Turns out better but it's hard to make money when the doors are locked. El Luchador has been on my radar for awhile now. Yes, it's located in Gardner, KS, which puts it little off the beaten path for most of us. However it is also halfway between my home and my place of work, which made perfect sense for me to stop in today. I arrived about 1:30pm, so it wasn't really busy, but that was to my benefit. I had an opportunity to visit with the owner, Manuel Oregel, and learned about his vision for this authentic Mexican restaurant and his plans for the future. I have been to very few restaurants where the owner spends as much time with guests as Manuel. He takes great pride in the food he serves and cares that his guests are satisfied. To say he is friendly and cheerful is an understatement. I got the feeling that I was a guest at his home, not just his restaurant. If you want Tex-Mex like some of the area restaurants serve, well there are plenty. If what you're looking for is authentic Mexican food, El Luchador is totally worth the trip. The decor is delightful whether you're a fan of lucha Libre or not, but definitely if you are. I look forward to returning to try other items on the menu. When you walk in you will notice how clean and welcoming the place is. The food is excellent. The birria burrito is my favorite. I have tried the other items on the menu and they are great too. I really liked the entrance revolving door and found it unique. The walls are beautifully painted and they have awesome decorations. Their service was good, they helped describe the menu and some items. They make their empanadas ahead of time so they don't take requests on the filling which is fair. The salsa tasted really good and had lots of flavor, it was on the runnier side. I ordered the empanada platter and got a quesabirria empanada and ground beef empanada. The ground beef empanada was the highlight of the place, it was extremely good and fulfilling. The fried shell was very soft and crispy, while the meat was full of flavor. The quesabirria wasn't my favorite, the meat was kinda dry and didn't have a lot of the flavor that birria usually has. The rice was plain with a little flavor but was good. Overall a really cool place that I hope does really well and I'll be back. read more

Food is always fresh and tastes great. I haven't had one thing there that wasn't awesome. And then the cherry on top is the customer service, they are always ready to help and are super friendly. My current menu pick is the Birria burrito, but there's nothing on the menu that has disappointed. Definitely worth a try! read more

Fantastic authentic Mexican food. Got the ground beef street tacos and they were very flavorful and filling. My friend got the queso birria taco and really enjoyed his meal as well. Very nice staff who brought us a complimentary empanada to enjoy too. Great atmosphere and plenty of seating. We even got a cucumber lemonade and a horchata to go, also delicious. Family really liked this place! Tried the birria, the chicken tinga, the empanadas, the rice, beans, and salsa. Everything tasted fresh and very good.
