I live in Sauk Rapids and had purchased three discount certificates for this location without having eaten here, [a major mistake], the first time was Labor Day Sunday, I drove up and noticed both entrance doors were wide open, there were cleaning supplies, spray, mops, etc., between the doors, I walked in and the flies were so bad I immediately left deciding to come back in the winter, after "fly season". I stopped by a few weeks ago on a Saturday because I wanted to use up the certificates, I ordered and was surprised at the small portions, I decided to get half my meal to go which seemed like a major inconvenience to the hostess, [it was not remotely busy in there]. Today, Sunday 2/5/2023 I stopped by there at 1pm, the first thing I noticed was three half full Corona beer bottles sitting in the snow by the front door along with several beer cans scattered about by the front entrance. When I walked in the first thing I noticed was my shoes sticking to the floor by the hostess station and bar, the floor was filthy with what appeared to be dried beer all over the floor. I planned on getting my order to-go so just asked the hostess, [the same person I had dealt with before] for a menu, I ordered and gave her my $10.00 certicate, she stared and stared at it, [I had used one before here], and said it had expired, since they don't expire I explained that she was looking at the date of issue, she said they no longer take these, I asked if El Loro had notified the issuer, she said yes so I cancelled my order and went to Hernandez Burrito in Sauk Rapids which I knew was clean, had great food and service. I spent over twenty years in the food service industry and a line cook and in management and definitely NEVER allow a bar/restaurant to open with beer bottles laying around outside and a filthy, discusting floor. Please STAY AWAY from this place, there are plenty of authentic Mexican restaurants in the area which are clean with excellent food and service! read more
