Let me start with the staff & service, as we rolled in shortly before close, not wanting to be those after hours people but also starving. We were made to feel welcome right away, when the server suggested the bar seating, they were quick to say unless you prefer a table, which I thought was quite accommodating, as I'm sure she was eager to get the dining room shut down, cleaned & go home. We would have eaten in the restrooms at this point, the bar sounded great. There were a few other patrons, 2 others were waiting on food. We opted to split a burrito and, on seeing the size, knew we'd chosen wisely. I loved that it was essentially 3 different takes. It was hot & hit the spot. When we left, there were still 4 people finishing up their drinks/ food. We weren't rushed at all. We were even offered another drink before going. The evening vibe was relaxed and friendly. The enchiladas I ordered were just awful. The corn tortillas were rolled from the package filled with cheese and then put on the plate. It was like they used the hot plate to cook the enchiladas. There was no flavor and just felt like the plate was very rushed and allowed to sit and heat on the hot plate instead of cooking on a pan or in an oven. I was very disappointed. Met friends here for lunch as it was a halfway stopping point. Nice plus is they have lunch specials even on the weekend. Decent lunch portions as well. Service and ambiance were both good. Steak for fajitas was chewy without much flavor which is why I gave them only 3 stars. It is okay and you don't get a lot of good Mexican food up North so take it for what it is. read more

Came in at 6:30pm, they close at 10. We are told they have a party of 30 and there's no tables other than high tops. Ok, no problem, but there are clearly tables open. Sit down, order drinks and we're told they are out of chips and salsa. Hmmmm.... The restaurant isn't even close to half full. Weird. Wait for our food and find out they also have no seasoned beef or chicken. They put unseasoned meats in the various dishes because they also ran out. Hmmmm.... Maybe let us know before we order. Tomato sauce instead of salsa on a few dishes. My sister told me they were better than Plaza Morena. I highly disagree. Who messed up and vastly underestimated the amount of food to the point you're out of most of your staple foods more than 3 hours before close? Why not just make more? I've eaten lunch here a few times and I'm impressed. I like to try new things, but it's hard for me to resist the choripollo. Even the smaller serving from the lunch menu is plenty of food. I particularly like that along with your chips they bring the usual red salsa and a dish of ranch. The ranch dressing is very mild. You can taste the buttermilk and a hint of cucumber. It's not the typical garbage ranch dressing used to mask bad food. The very large windows give it a nice open feel. The staff is very friendly. The prices are right in line with similar restaurants. It's located just off I-35 on the same frontage road as Cabelas. It's right by a Timberlodge Steakhouse and a Famous Dave's, but you'll like this place more. read more

Ordered 2 large cheese dips. The worst I've ever had, it was like flavorless soup. Thin and tasteless.

Minnie served our large family of 7 today for lunch. We were just passing through on our way to the Mall of America. We got hungry on the road and saw this place on maps. The reviews were good but the parking lot was dead so we were a bit nervous. When we made it inside we were greeted and sat right away which is always nice. They were able to answer my questions about my gluten allergy quickly and were kind and understanding about it. The salsa was delicious a bit spicy but good. The chips were fresh. The fryer oil needs to be changed but they were good. Then our meals came and everyone stopped talking. That's how you know it's delicious! My sister and I had the tropical fajitas. We are from Phoenix and I've never had fajitas this good before. The pineapples just gave it that something extra that made it so dang good. My son had the Hawaiian fajitas he said they were amazing. My husband had the Texas fajitas which were also absolutely delicious. My nephew had the burrito deluxe and he ate every single bite. They even had two for one margarita that were so tasty! Went here on 11/19 11am right at opening. I got lunch steak fajitas$10 Portion size was amazing, guacamole was very good but Refried Beans were to salty couldn't eat them. Steak was 1/2 dry some was tender no flavor(tasted reheated) , Onions and green peppers were good would love to see a lil more color w red peppers Rice was very good. My friend had Lunch special #5 beef taco $6 (moderate seasoning) sauce over it tasted like marinara rice was top notch. Service was top notch very attentive. Clean and bathrooms were very nice. Very good place to eat. Stopped by for lunch. The lunch menu has more choices than other Mexican restaurants I've stopped ay while on the road. Food was delicious and served hot (temperature). Can't say that about some other places...get to the middle of a burrito and it's cold. Salsa is very good. Service was prompt and friendly. Across the street is Cabellas which has many truck parking spaces. From there, it's only a short walk to some great Mexican food. read more

If you like Mexican food this is your place! My wife loved it and I have to admit I am more of a chipotle guy. I ordered a burger and fries be warned they don't have any mustard. The burger was better than the hotel's I was staying at. Nice and clean and the staff were very nice! read more

Ordered 4 chicken tacos side of rice. Got 4 beef tacos no rice. I was hungry so I just ate. Atmosphere is typical with decor and music. I enjoyed my meal minus the wrong order and kid running and crying. I'll come back but I'll be doing take out. read more

SO HAPPY there is an el Loro close to home, we moved out to the area and the only thing missing was my favorite Mexican chain. Not only was it fantastic service but the food was superb, better than any el Loro I've ever been to...and trust me I've been to them all. SOOOO GOOD! read more

Had high hopes for this place but was very disappointed. The service was good but everyone at my table didn't like their food at all. My carne asada tasted microwaved and the chips tasted stale. My mom ordered a coconut drink and she was running to the bathroom by the end of the meal. read more

We wanted to stop for a quick lunch on our way home. This was easy to get to from I-35. Servers were friendly. I ordered the lunch special #6 - two chicken enchiladas with rice. I asked if they would use verde sauce and they happily said yes. These were so good! Topped with verde sauce, a little cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. My husband had the Speedy Gonzales lunch special- one taco and one enchilada. He also chose to do the chicken verde enchilada and agreed it was very good. He had a crispy beef taco, which was ok, but pretty greasy. He could choose rice or beans and he chose beans. We both cleaned our plates. Two meals with one water and one iced tea was $21, and we were in and out in about 30 minutes which was perfect for traveling. read more
