The food here is art. That's it. It is the most complex, unusual, and well thought out cuisine I…read morehave ever had. Each dish is perfectly garnished with subtle sauces and greens that confuse and delight the palate. I ended up going two nights in a row. It is the kind of decadent, gourmet, High class meal that would cost at least 100$ in the US. Here's what you need to know: *on a weekend you will need a reservation But during the week it is very quiet and you Can easily walk in unannounced. *they only have a set menu with courses to choose from, BUT every single option is exquisite, and there are vegetarian options available *the menu is about 15€ per person, not including drinks. If you are very used to paying for food in Spain this is expensive, but if you are coming from the USA on Holliday you will literally be in total awe that food of this quality could possibly cost 30€ total. Price wise in the US, that's a meal at Olive Garden that gives you indigestion later. You'll be stunned by the quality vs price here I guarantee it. *you can come with a group as big as about 6 to as small as just 1 *if you don't speak any Spanish bring a translating app for the menu. The dishes are Complex and I speak enough Spanish to get by here well, but still needed to look some words up. *the BRIE dish is my favorite. They may not have it every night but if you're lucky and see it on the menu GET. IT. You will dream about it and miss it every day after. Overall: my favorite restaurant in Valencia by far, and it's also in the incredible barrio del Carmen neighborhood which is constructed of lots of mysterious and cool Alleyways, and covered in gorgeous and off beat street art.

Wonderful food and excellent value. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to karak and we even…read moremet Raquel the chef afterwards . The only potential improvement would be to the decor of the restaurant and my wife said the ladies loo seat was broken!! After dinner go a drink at the record shop/ round the corner to finish off great night in Valencia .

We loved it so much after our first lunch, that we went back the next day for lunch again,…read moreseriously. I am hesitant to tell you about L'Ambrossia, because it was that good, and had a magical, complete locals only feel --- no really, locals would pop in and out as they walked by to say hello and give kisses, maybe stopping for a drink before carrying on---... but alas, I must share the wealth of great flavors with my yelpy family. L'Ambrossia is tucked just off the beaten path, in old town Alicante. The owner?, Carlos was incredibly friendly and happy to make recommendations. He even share treats that we hadn't ordered before our dishes came so we could try them - one was a toast with crab salad on it, and the other was a toast with some kind of peppery salami-like paste on it. I wouldn't expect these extra goodies, if I were you, but, if it happens - you'll definitely be delighted. Anyway, it was hot outside, and we'd be walking around a ton - so with lunch, we had a really nice rose both days - the first was Sarria Garnacha and the second was called MO Monastrell - both were light and perfect. Between both days, we tried: Goat cheese balls with honey & caramelized onion - holy hell what a foodgasm - ask for a side of bread Green salad with tomato, pepper, onion, dried tomatoes, sunflower seeds, and basil oil - we added grilled chicken to this and it was heaven. Sandwich - slice of bread with toppings- Grilled fresh tuna with avocado vinaigrette Sandwich - slice of bread with toppings- Sirloin with melted cheese and onion Iberian ham - slices of cured iberian ham that melts in your mouth- Please don't tell anyone about this place on the other review site --rhymes with "grip schmadvisor"-- where stodgy/stuffy/whiney people flock... because L'Ambrossia is legit, and it shouldn't be tainted. Mmmmmmm man now I want to go back and basque in the goodness. Places like this make you want to live nearby so you can be a local, too.

Mimmo - Arguably the very best pizza I have ever had. The cheese and sauce are fantastic and made only better by their high water content dough.

In all honesty this might be the very best Italian food I have ever had. Its owner, Tony, aver engaging man, is building what I hope to be (first full year in this location) a very successful restaurant predicated upon material and ingredients acquired by artisanal suppliers and includes many providers he knows well and refers to them as his friends. The Chef de Cuisine, Dario is also very engaging, is from Italy and produces the best pizza and meatballs one could hope for. The back of the house staff also includes a young man (I am a pretty old Fk'r) named Robin who joined us out front for a picture I've posted and taken by, yes, Tony himself. We plan on returning prior to departure from our 1 week stay in Valencia and we would love to see his magic spread to the USA, hint-hint Seattle, please. If you have ever read my reviews I typically don't critique food as I am not a foodie. Tony's place is decorated in an eclectic array of pictures (Bob Marley to the Dude himself Jeff Bridges) and memorabilia which can help pass the time by appreciating the care in which it is all assembled. Trust me por favor that you do NOT want to miss this place.
