Chile Relleno plate. Surprisingly, I actually completed it all.
    Layla M.

Delicious Food... Didn't taste oily like other places. Had the Chile Relleno & it was yummy... I still have a better place to get Chile Relleno but it's near the Border of Mexico...A bit far for an impromptu dinner... So, this is the next best... Hubby had the Carne Asada Tacos... He liked it too... The chips and salsa served before the meal were tasty. I got the Mexican Coke in a bottle because there's no High Fructose Corn Syrup in it... It's just sugar. I know this is a brief review but it is what it is. Lastly, the counter service person was pleasant & helpful. I think I'll try something else here next time... I was just craving a Chile Relleno... now I am satisfied

Had lunch here today with a coworker. It was very good. We both liked it. I had beef taquitos and my coworker had a beef torta. The chips and salsa were tasty as well. The owner is a nice guy. The place is clean and has tables and booths. Definitely worth a try if you haven't been here yet.

The food smelled amazing as it was being brought to my table. The taste was also good with the perfect amount of seasoning.

    DELICIOUS!

I've driven up Washington hundreds of times, but this weekend was the first time that I noticed the red MEXICAN FOOD written on the marquis by the parking lot entrance. If you're like me, you're going to investigate. I'm halfway through 4 carne asada and decided to write a quick review while I'm still enjoying the fuck out of these tacos. mine are topped with the hot sauce (as opposed to mild) and the flavor is out of this world! Alien tacos, you dig? I saw a comedian from the Midwest tell a joke about folks from socal that are always quick to the draw with a recommendation on where to get killer tacos. Duh; when they're this good, we're always wanting to share the locale. Damn, this asada is tender! One taco left now. suh gud. yum yum yum. imma try a breakfast burrito next time. They looked substantial.

Great carne tacos! They put a good amount of meat in them as well unlike some restaurants. Service is great too.

It's a no frills place where the food far exceeded my expectations. Even though they are off the busy Highway 111 they are kind of tucked in the back and not easy to see unless you're driving into this tucked away shopping center. From the outside, I liked that they had a covered small patio and we wondered inside for a late lunch. This is the kind of place where you can order at the counter and get your food to go, but if you opt in, they will send a server to your table to take your order. Casual, but still with the perks of being checked on and getting table side service. I absolutely loved the decor inside! Super colorful and fun tapestries lighting the walls, this place was decorated so cutely and felt very authentic. The staff were very nice and welcoming, always checking on your table, but still giving you space to die in privacy. I felt that the prices were reasonable for the amount of food that you get in the quality. I went with a Jamica to drink which was perfect, sweet but refreshing. Pro tip they do have beer and if I come back on a day off, I'm definitely grabbing an ice cold Tecate. For my meal, I went with the Carnitas tacos and they were divine. Classic but delicious. The Carnitas were the right amount of crispy and flavorful paired with some cilantro and onion. I'm not usually a salsa girl as I can't handle much but their homemade salsa were fabulous and I couldn't help but drizzle some over my tacos. that's a compliment coming from someone like me. lol This place is honestly some of the best Mexican food in the area but it's hidden so I'm hoping to spread the word. Perfect for lunch or dinner. I'll definitely be back soon because the tacos hit the spot.

LOCATION: In Old Town La Quinta, OTLQ easy to find, tons of parking but at times it gets busy so you may have to walk a bit. FACILITY: very traditional inside and out, clean, and lots of space between tables. MENU: rather massive, we usually order the same things so all the other options makes my head hurt so we just go with what we know. FOOD PREP: excellent, always looks the same which is a good things. FOOD QUALITY: some of the best in the valley. LIBATIONS: lots of choices and not too expensive, wish they had a locals city of LQ discount like some of the other options in OTLQ.. WAITSTAFF: very nice, everyone. OVERALL VALUE: if you order the right things, it is a great value but you can go nuts and spend a lot, tourist dollars spend well, upselling happens for those who want it and deserve it! TIP: Sitting outside is great most all year, we don't go out when it is crazy hot, but have dined outside in 100+ temps, we prefer the front outdoor space.

*Mi Casa es Su Casa*…read more My buddy had a small casual bday get-together with his family and invited me to join the celebration. I saw all the favorable reviews on Yelp and was looking forward to my first visit at Casa Mendoza. Very chill & lively family owned Mexican joint in Old Town LQ. The place was kinda busy @6:30pm on Hump Night ~~ always a great sign when I see this. Felt more like a Sunday Evening. It took an hour to receive our meals. Ordered @6:45 arrived @7:45pm. Good thing the Chimichanga & Gauc apps arrived pretty quickly. The Gauc was Excellente. All their food was very good. But all our meals arrived cold/lukewarm. Took forever to receive our food and we knew for a fact it's because all our plates sat a while until we were served. The actual plates weren't even warm and the sizzling fajitas had sizzled out and lost its dazzle. Because it was still 95 degrees when dinner was finally served, our lukewarm meals were doable on a hot night. Everyone did enjoy their meals tho. I was very pleased with my Mahi Mahi in Garlic Butter Sauce. The refried beans were outstanding. The rice very good...and I made tacos with the 3 corn tortillas. But would have enjoyed it even more had all the food been a little warmer. I stuck with H2O but all margarita drinkers said their drinks were good and hit the spot on a warm night. The service in general was also inconsistent for our small party of 8. The Birthday Boy was a little frustrated and got up a few times from his throne seeking assistance -- such as missing tortillas for meals, water refills, extra napkins. We even had to wait longer than anticipated for them to acknowledge the bday boy with a celebratory bday song & sombrero...and the fried ice cream, which didn't include a candle. Tho we all enjoyed ourselves and time together...a 2 hour dinner at a Mexican joint on a Wednesday night wasn't what we anticipated. Especially with one restless 7 year old ;-) But everyone working at Casa Mendoza is very friendly with great attitudes. Hostess team, waiters, servers & runners too. So that made up for the spotty service, just a little bit. Since I'm closer to the other Casa Mendoza in Palm Desert, I'd go there in the future with my wife, and order the exact same thing. But hope for much better service and warmer food.
