El Grullo #4 is a fabulous quick lunch option in the Clarksville area. We ordered our lunch to go with horchata (not pictured). The food was ready when we arrived (less than 10 minutes). A basic dining area is available. The horchata was refreshing and in a large cup. The buritto was filling and tasty. 2023 to 2025 Review: -------2025 Update------- In two years, this place is different in service and atmosphere. It is more crowded, requires more self service, and awkward in adjusting to the changes. The food is still great. I was not use to prepping my own tacos and going to the self service bar for taco sauces and fillings for the taco. The changes made me want to just come to the restaurant for takeout. I just could not enjoy the restaurant like I used to to in the past. -------------------- 2023 4.5 stars. Tongue Tacos were delicious & affordable. Driving & Parking were very convenient. Great little addition to the other shops. This one is close to base and has breakfast until 11. They have the best breakfast burrito in town. They also have a nice little salsa bar so you can get chips and salsa while you eat. Not to mention their pineapple drink is legit. The staff are on top of orders and food comes out fast! read more

Idk what happened to this place. My husband and I use to love it. Over the weekend we order over 100$ worth of food here for my in-laws. I woke up in the middle of the night having to throw up. I have been patronizing El Grullo express since 2018. I love that place so much. However, this is about El Grullo #4 which is a sit down restaurant and not the drive thru. My friend and I went to El Grullo #4 this past Thursday bc we've been talking about wanting some menudo for days. We live by exit 4 so the drive was a little far but it was worth it. We were the first customers that day. When we walked in, the server told us to pick our table. As we sat down, she handed us our menus. I wish I would have taken a picture of it bc it was very organized and they have pictures for all items on the menu. Now, if you're not familiar with Mexican food, the pictures might not give you a lot of details. But they do give you enough for you to order. I ordered me a bottle of Mexican coke and my friend ordered a horchata. For appetizers, she ordered elote and I ordered street tacos. With my street tacos, I ordered two of Al pastor, one of tripa and lengua and extra grilled jalapeños. Now, these tacos didn't come with spicy salsa or the verde salsa like it would if you get them from the express location. I didn't think to ask but it was good without the salsa regardless. My friend loved her elote. Not even 10 minutes later, the server brought us our menudo. Guys, it was so fresh and the bowl was filled to the brim and full of meat! You'll for sure get full out of this alone. It does come with Mexican rice and tortillas (flour or corn) and diced onions and jalapeños for garnish. The meat was tendered, didn't have any smell to them at all (they're innards). They also give you part of pork feet/hocks...and those were also tender and falling off the bone. We sat there for almost two hours just enjoying our food and vibing. They didn't rush us out at all even when they had their lunch rush (ft campbell soldiers). When we were about to leave, there were literally close to 20 soldiers walking in to their establishment. Given how busy it was right before we left, our server made sure that we were still doing okay and If we wanted a to go box. I told her there's nothing to take home. We ate them all. We had heard good things about this place and wanted to check it out as we are new to the area. We walked in and noticed it to be quite warm in the restaurant but went on in and sat down. We were greeted quickly and was able to order in a timely manner. The table over from us sent shrimp back because of something unknown and that should have been our signal to leave. The food was awful. I got chicken and I was shocked when full bone in chicken showed up at the table. That was not to be found on the picture in the menu. The chicken was extremely dry and I didn't eat 1/4 of it. For $70 for 4 people, we didn't eat half of it. Something was off. We eat Mexican food quite frequently as my husband is originally from Cali. We won't be back. read more

i would not recommend this place. the service is so slow, they don't check on you at all, it takes longer for them to give you receipt than it does to cook and eat the whole meal, my food was dry because she took out all the sauces instead of added extra like i asked, my husband's was extra greasy, & you also have to pay for water. it was so dirty that his shorts were sticky to the seat because the chair was sticky. read more

This place is a gem. Apparently it's the 4th El Grullo location in town. It's In a good location, easy to get in and out and there were a few parking spots up front. This is a drive through location, but inside they have a few tables as well. The staff were amazing and friendly and answered all my questions about the menu. I got the birria quesa tacos which were absolutely amazing. Three super stuffed tacos filled with delicious beef and cheese. I could only finish two, it didn't look like a lot of food on the plate but they were filled with so much meat. My husband had a chimichanga Al pastor and it was so good. It was full of flavorful pork and came with rice and beans, which was a really good deal for the money. We tried the regular flan which was also pretty good. The queso dip was decent. Inside they had a variety of aguafrescas and a drink cooler with water bottles and soda, including the best Mexican Coca Cola, and beers. The food came really fast and was super affordable. The food isn't bad that isn't the problem, the service is what brings this rating down. There is specifically one lady, I don't know if she has a hard time hearing or she doesn't know how to use the register but she completely ruined me and my friends orders, she got them completely wrong and charged me extra for things I didn't even order. my coworker told me about this place so I had to try because I moved here in November from El Paso after 7 years and this is the first Mexican food I've tried here. I ordered 3 tacos al pastor for my husband and 3 chicken tacos with rice and beans for me. the meat was good and seasoned and the rice and beans were hot. they put a good amount of meat in the tacos too and it comes with red and green salsa which both have a little spice (which I love.) the waiter was patient and cleared my confusion about the menu and the food came out fast! definitely recommend! read more

We got two orders of carne asada fries to go and they were DELICIOUS! So packed with toppings and flavor. The red and green salsa are super flavorful and just the right amount of spice. We also got the horchata which is no lie the best I've ever had. I appreciated how clean the restaurant and restrooms were and also appreciated the friendly and fast service. Food is good, service depends on who is serving you and your skin color. The first time we went, the service was GREAT! Today we walked in, I asked the girl at the counter if they have breakfast burritos. (I'm white w/ blonde hair btw and she is Latina). She said yes and handed me a menu. I'm flipping through the whole thing looking for it and I asked my husband if he sees it. My husband then asks her in Spanish about the breakfast burritos and she reply's in Spanish saying they are NOT on the menu, but tells him what's in them. So we were about to order based on what she told us, then she said, "oh we can't. We stop serving breakfast at 11:00 and it's now 11:07". Really?!? Seven minutes?! Had you told me about the burritos when I walked in instead of handing me a menu to flip through and search for the non-existent breakfast burritos, it would have been 11:00. i will never return to this specific el grullo # 4 i been getting the same items 4 different time pollo asado & tacos birria always pay $ 23.54 ea time except the last time April 27 i notice on my bank account a diffent amount of $ 6.76 my bank account shows i spend $30.30 at el grullo not much but i didn`t leave a tip on the check i left $3.00 in cash since it was a pick up ..my point is how they closed my check with $6.76 more that i didn`t authorize ??? i call back and i ask how much it will be the total of these 2 items if i want to put a order over thr phone the lady said $ 23.54 ..... that is when i notice someone altered my check with more tip ????
