Street tacos; 2 Al pastor, lengua and tripa.

I have been patronizing El Grullo express since 2018. I love that place so much. However, this is about El Grullo #4 which is a sit down restaurant and not the drive thru. My friend and I went to El Grullo #4 this past Thursday bc we've been talking about wanting some menudo for days. We live by exit 4 so the drive was a little far but it was worth it. We were the first customers that day. When we walked in, the server told us to pick our table. As we sat down, she handed us our menus. I wish I would have taken a picture of it bc it was very organized and they have pictures for all items on the menu. Now, if you're not familiar with Mexican food, the pictures might not give you a lot of details. But they do give you enough for you to order. I ordered me a bottle of Mexican coke and my friend ordered a horchata. For appetizers, she ordered elote and I ordered street tacos. With my street tacos, I ordered two of Al pastor, one of tripa and lengua and extra grilled jalapeños. Now, these tacos didn't come with spicy salsa or the verde salsa like it would if you get them from the express location. I didn't think to ask but it was good without the salsa regardless. My friend loved her elote. Not even 10 minutes later, the server brought us our menudo. Guys, it was so fresh and the bowl was filled to the brim and full of meat! You'll for sure get full out of this alone. It does come with Mexican rice and tortillas (flour or corn) and diced onions and jalapeños for garnish. The meat was tendered, didn't have any smell to them at all (they're innards). They also give you part of pork feet/hocks...and those were also tender and falling off the bone. We sat there for almost two hours just enjoying our food and vibing. They didn't rush us out at all even when they had their lunch rush (ft campbell soldiers). When we were about to leave, there were literally close to 20 soldiers walking in to their establishment. Given how busy it was right before we left, our server made sure that we were still doing okay and If we wanted a to go box. I told her there's nothing to take home. We ate them all. Lol anyway, I'll end this review here. If you're a fan of Mexican food especially street tacos and menudo, this is the place!!

La comida no era caliente; pienso que la comida estaba preparada antes que yo lo ordene. I'm so baffled rn.

Hubby and I were driving around Monday looking for a lunch spot when we passed this. When I say it…read moredoesn't look like much from the outside, I mean it was to the point I was arguing with him about not wanting to get out of the truck. I'm so glad he talked me into it. Walking in I was still hesitant; consisting of mainly the square tables with 4 of those basic chairs that i think my great great grandma had in her kitchen, it is a no frills/no booths/no upgrades to anything-type spot but the young man who greeted us was really nice. Lots to choose from on the menu. Chips were good. We asked for an order of guacamole with it and he brought that but no salsa so we didn't get to taste of the salsa was good. Guacamole was decent. I like the Texas way, where it's got the hint of citrus and more salt in it but it was alright. The horchata was Delicious. Hubby ordered his favorite Jarrito and they do carry other yummy juices as well as Mexican coke which i love. He had the enchiladas. I forgot the actual name of my order, but it had the chicken, cheesy rice and pineapples and was really good. We wanted to try a few of the tacos with the homemade tortillas too. We ordered chorizo, pork and carne asada. Those tacos. Omg. By far these are some of the best I've eaten in this city. And the homemade tortillas are so delicious. Hubby and I both agree they are 5 star all the way. The main dishes came on chipped plates that didn't match and was a reminder of the bare bones feel of the place. Now this wouldn't bother me at all if the intent of the no frills meant it kept the food cost down however the prices were actually higher than the majority of the local restaurants here that have same quality food. Maybe not as great as them tacos but still consistently good with a more comfortable surrounding. The food is great here don't get me wrong. But it isn't a place I'd want to go for a date or to relax. It's vibe is (to me anyway) a place to quickly eat good food and leave.

We went here for dinner with our family of 7. I was seriously craving mexican food, and, oh man,…read moreit hit the spot. Weve tried many mexican restaurants since we moved here. They were all "ok". But this one... authentic, delicious, priced right, clean, etc. Oh my goodness, it was so good. Their sales was amazing. Every aspect of it was so good. We were the only ones in the restaurant the whole time as customers. We went there based off reviews here on Yelp. The building is rather hidden and not noticed among all the other places around. Go here. You wont be sorry. It is sooooooo good. Authentic y'all!
