Hands down the food here is amazing! The menu is extensive so I had a hard time deciding what to get but I decided on the Chimichanga and it was top tier. The service here was great, I wished I got my waiters name, but he was very attentive. He helped us decide on what dessert we wanted and I'm so glad for his recommendations. El comal always hits the spot for me. I typically get the same three things, Chicken fajitas, Shrimp Acapulco, and the Cali Burrito. I enjoyed the Fajitas on this night. The chicken is always cooked good, I do like to ask for my veggies to be well done. There's always a double portion in the single serving, which is nice. Ingrid always serves us with a smile. Our waitress was great! Very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was good, kinda small like a family and friends older style Mexican restaurant. However, the food was nothing short of terrible. Brought my family of 4 here and not one of us like what was served to us. The bar ran out of ingredients for my drink. The Queso dip was way too runny, the cheese ran off the chips. I was terrible! My daughters burrito was not cold but certainly luke warm at best. No clue what the red paste / sauce was in mine and my son's meals but it was a cross between ketchup and marinara sauce?? Chimichanga was not fried right, more like a soft burrito than a chimichanga. Extremely disappointed, there are so many Mexican restaurants around I will not come back here again and highly recommend you avoid this place as well. Too many better options available. Chips and salsa are good, service is not. Micheladas are worst I've had at a restaurant. Fish tacos are literally just a fish, in the taco. Nothing else. Asked the server for more chips and salsa and she waited about 15 minutes, finally came back and asked "do you still want chips and salsa"..... Wasn't impressed the first time, gave it another chance, not impressed the second time either. Only thing I would want to come for is to drink and eat chips and salsa but the micheladas suck so that's not even an option. read more

So this is a second review of El Comal. I was there today for lunch and something's different. The quality of the food was just not what it used to be. I ordered the 2 enchilada lunch combo which ca.me with beans and rice. I also ordered a single grilled chicken taco. The enchiladas were ok, but nothing like they'd been just a few short months ago. The rice and beans were just warm and there was no warning about a hot plate. In fact, the beans looked like they'd been sitting out for a while. The grilled chicken taco was spot on, though but overall, lunch was a "meh." I ordered chile Colorado to take home for dinner tonight. I reheated it in my smart oven, which also steams as well as heats, and I think that's probably what saved this dish from being a disappointment. There were no tortillas included, although every other time I've carried out chile Colorado, I've gotten them. Perhaps I shouldn't be so trusting next time and actually check the bag before leaving with the meal. I'm not sure what happened with you, El Comal. You're usually WAY better than this. Was it just an off day, or what? A new chef in the kitchen? New recipes? A slip in your usually much higher standards? I like the food and the vibe. It's never too crowded. They have a good margarita. Food is fresh every time. They never disappoint and the food is seasoned well. Consistently delicious food. HOWEVER, the service is hit or miss. Last night, other tables were waited on before us - this has happened before. The waitress did not bring our drinks. Another staff member was wandering around the restaurant as though lost. We asked her for water. As we spoke, she stared at us, and then resumed her wandering: no water. What really did me in: at the table next to ours, a woman allowed her son to watch a movie on her phone at maximum volume. The staff said nothing whatsoever to this abysmally rude customer, leaving me to confront the woman. It is the restaurant's responsibility to address out-of-control customers in order to maintain a pleasant environment for everyone. My husband and I live very close and decided to try this place out. The outside seating and inside is very nice and good vibes. However, the drinks and food were not the best. I ordered a marg and there was a dead fly at the top floating!!!!! I pointed it out to the waitress then she pointed it out to what looked like her manager. He did not react at all. He was at our table along with our waitress and he did not say sorry or anything! She asked me what I wanted instead and I asked for another marg. I kid you not.... She comes back 6 minutes later WITH THE SAME DRINK. They scooped the bug, waited a long time and gave it back. The ice was melted, the sugar was melted off, and I could tell it was the same drink and so did my husband. The Mexi egg rolls was the only decent food. This place is absolutely wonderful! Cheap cheap prices for fantastically prepared & presented authentic Mexican food. Chips and salsa-perfect consistency and spice in the salsa (they serve a hot verde salsa along with the regular salsa that is very flavorful as well, if you like spicier foods), plus the chips were warm and not greasy at all! Everything we have tried on the menu has been perfect. Even the rice & beans that are a staple at every Mexican restaurant were above and beyond. They have daily lunch specials (you can get fajitas & a drink for 7 bucks on Fridays!) that are great deals, although none of their menu items are expensive anyway. The service is great, the entire staff is very friendly (and fluent in English as well!), the restaurant is super clean, service is fantastic...there is seriously nothing bad I can say about this establishment. Pretty good Mexican Restaurant in Clarksville. I went there for lunch with a friend. Located in a small strip mall. Plenty of parking and seating. There were booths as well as tables. I had the huevos con chorizo(eggs with sausage). It also came with tortilla wraps and beans. Pretty good serving size too. My friend had a soup that came in a huge bowl. Nachos and Salsa were also served with the meal. Total bill with tip included was $20. That's a hard bargain to beat. The service was good too. Attentive and polite. This place is pretty decent. Came here for the AFC championship game and sat at the bar watching the Colts get spanked by the Pats. They have chips and salsa. You have to ask for the spicier green one if you want it. It's still not that spicy, but they have a habanero sauce you can add that gives it a little kick. We started off with queso...the one with chorizo and pico mixed in. It was pretty watery, but it had a great flavor. Then since we were very hungry we split the mixed fajitas. It's chicken, steak, and shrimp. The fajitas were so yummy. Guac, queso, salsa...yum!! My only complaint is that I wish they would used bagged tortillas. Wish they were homemade.
