2.9.24 The food was delicious and flavorful, but it took 40 minutes for the food to come out. Restaurant is small with most tables seating only two. I ordered the carne asada at the recommendation of staff and my hubby ordered three tacos (chicken, steak, and birria). I wanted to order flan from the menu, but they did not have it. Totally bummed. It is one of my favorite latino desserts. We enjoyed our meal, but the wait time for our food was longer than other restaurants. Since they recently opened, hopefully their pace improves during peak times to keep up with the demand.

The wait is over !!!! I have been waiting for a place like this to open around these neck of the woods. I use to have travel to Laurel, Silver Spring, Takoma Park to get some good "Pupusas" The staff is nice and friendly, very welcoming. Place is nice and clean but needs more decor The menu is a little off. They dont make "sandwich de pavo" a traditional salvadoran sandwhich made during the holidays. I wasnt too impressed w the "empanada de platano" I thought the inner filling lacked flavor. The Pupusas were good, curtido was good, Tacos de Lengua were delicious Food is on point and has that "Gran Sabor" I will be coming back

Stumbled upon this place while in the LaMart shopping center. Saw the balloons and grand opening sign. What a great find!! The spot is small but mighty. There aren't a ton of seats, but enough if they aren't busy. They have a wide selection of options on their menu and all reasonably priced. I ordered 3 tacos to go. They are served traditional Mexican style on corn tortillas with onions and cilantro. I ordered the chorizo w/steak, chicken, and steak. Oh my goodness!! These tacos are filled with flavor. They smelled so good, I had to start eating in them in the car. Great local find! This will definitely become a regular spot for me!!

Food was delicious, the owner speaks made a plate for me (protein only) and service was great. I recommend this place and will be back for more when In the area.

I was really craving a steak burrito so I decided to try this spot upon a quick google search. I came by about an hour before closing and got my order pretty quickly, around less than 15 minutes probably. My burrito came out to about $14. It was pretty sizable, and if I hadn't been so hungry, I probably could've split it into two meals. It comes with the usual fixins, although I expected diced avocados instead of guac/mashed. They included two salsas, but if you're a saucy person, I'd ask for more. I didn't feel like the sauce elevated the flavor, though burritos do already have a lot going on for themselves. The burrito was fresh and tasty. I think I could've used more flavor/seasoning. The steak was a bit tough but not more than normal. While I was sitting in my car eating it, I did have 3 people ask me where it was from lol. So it goes to show that it's an eye catcher!

Great beyond your expectations for a place with horrible curb appeal, in other words don't judge a book by its cover

The space is expansive, with a variety of seating options that can accommodate everything from casual meetups to larger groups. The décor leans into dark wood tones accented by vibrant, colorful artwork, giving it a warm yet lively atmosphere. Service was a standout--our server was upbeat, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful when it came to navigating the menu. The kitchen emphasizes fresh ingredients, with house-made tortillas and many items prepared from scratch, which is always a plus. We started with their complimentary house-made tortilla chips and salsa, a solid way to kick things off while waiting for our entrées. Our table ordered a mix: taco salad, seasoned ground beef tacos (kept simple by request), Baja fish tacos, and chicken quesadillas. Portions were generous across the board, and everything arrived well-prepared and satisfying--definitely enough for leftovers. If you're in the mood for approachable, comfort-style Mexican fare, Uncle Julio's delivers a dependable and enjoyable dining experience.

First of all the customer service was superb! The bartender even took the time to walk next door a grab me a tres leches cake since they were out in the restaurant. I got 1 each ofbeans/cheese and pork/cheese pupusas, menudo soup, and 2 pork tamales (they were out of chicken). It came with rice, cabbage, onions, cilantro, and a variety of sauces and salsa. I was craving tamales, I'm from the south, and thought this would do the trick. It didn't, completely different. But that was my own failed wishful thinking. I love Latin American food and everything was ok to me. I could tell it was all homemade and the soup was my favorite. The tres leches was different from what I'm used to. It didn't have as much extra milk and it had peaches. It was ok but I prefer the regular way better. Would I came back? Yes and try the tacos and maybe the chicken. Plus like I said the customer service was outstanding! And next time I think I'll eat in the restaurant instead of taking it to go.

The service was on point, quick, welcoming, and they actually guided me toward something great instead of just taking the order. Went with the Plato Brian and it was the right call. Everything on the plate was flavorful, well-cooked, and satisfying without feeling sloppy. The handmade tortillas really sealed it for me, there's something about that fresh, slightly imperfect texture that just hits different. Took me straight back to homemade meals. Had to try the pupusas too, cheese & pork is my go-to, and these delivered. Crispy outside, packed with flavor inside. Also, I've been searching for a good horchata around the DMV, and this one is definitely up there. Smooth, not chalky, and a little sweet (which I personally prefer). Big bonus: I grabbed food to-go for my wife, who's vegetarian, and they had legit options, not just an afterthought. She tried the spinach, loroco & cheese, and bean & cheese pupusas, plus the Salvadoran breakfast, and was impressed. This is the kind of place that does the basics really well, and that's what keeps people coming back.

It's always crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned just right. I usually keep it simple and get it with salad or vegetables, and it hits every time. So delicious. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean, and they stay pretty busy with both dine-in and carryout orders, which is always a good sign. It is located in a sketchy part of Laurel, so just be mindful of that when you're heading over. But overall, if you're craving authentic Salvadorian food, this spot is definitely worth it.
