After 3:00 p. m. I ordered takeout and the order came back missing the guacamole salad. When I called to make arrangements for my missing salad, staff explained that my fajitas came with rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole, and pico de gallo. And that I actually got what I ordered. Except, I ordered and paid for a separate guacamole salad. It is pictured on the menu and I have ordered it before. So, I was 100% that I didn't get it. They passed the phone around as if they didn't understand and never offered to make things right. This isn't my first problem with them (missing food, spoiled pineapple & spoiled tomatoes.) But it might be the final straw that keeps me from coming back. read more

El Gran Puerto - Fajitas come with rice, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo and guacamole according to the menu - Mexican Near Me - Stuarts Draft, Virginia

El Gran Puerto in Stuart's Draft is probably my favorite amongst their restaurants in perspective neighboring cities. The service is always top notch and the food never disappoints. My go to dish there is the Arroz Con Camerones, its shrimp, vegetables on a bed of Spanish rice and queso cheese. If your not a seafood person, they do have this dish with chicken (pollo). There is indoor/outdoor seating and both area's are nicely decorated with traditional pieces of Mexican/Spanish culture. Shout out to Juan and Pepe, they are the BEST!!!! read more

El Gran Puerto - tables and chairs in a mexican restaurant - Mexican Near Me - Stuarts Draft, Virginia

Quesadilla rellena (beef) is quite flavorful without being over the top spicy. The beef is ... chewy. Looks like the pot roast I make at home. The rice is just so-so. I'll request a substitute for the rice next time. (Yes, there will be a next time). Portion size is smaller than I'm used to, especially the salsa (about 2 tablespoons in the bottom of a deep bowl), but they had no problem bringing more. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Revision: requested the menu so I could "order more food, please." Menu came promptly. 20 minutes later no further attention. read more

Found this place on a whim while looking at used cars. It's hidden off the freeway a bit but so worth it. The food is fresh. The menu has lots of options for lunch and dinner. The family atmosphere is perfect. The staff are friendly and attentive. I had the fajitas and husband has chicken burrito. We are from California and it's always difficult to find good, fresh, authentic, and flavorful Mexican food! This place is a must if you're driving through the area! read more

My wife and I had dinner here last night. The service was great. I ordered the Carnitas, which can be very hit and miss at most restaurants. The Carnitas here is one of the best I've ever had. My wife had a chicken quesadilla and enjoyed it very much. read more

This is a sister restaurant to the one in Staunton. It is a hole in the wall but has great home made food. I don't live near either location but the Staunton staffers are more attentive. The server got my order wrong & I had to get up and look for her to get the order remade. The endless chips are dangerous. The salsa is rather addictive. The burritos are good. The enchiladas are yummy. read more

This has been a favorite of ours for many years! Food is always delicious & the staff are such nice people! Most of the time they already know my daughter wants cheese dip and sometimes they ask us before we ask for it. They have a lot of regulars and they take the time to know their customers. It's a personal experience! I love the decor and design of it too! read more

El Gran Puerto - a plate of mexican food - Mexican Near Me - Stuarts Draft, Virginia

We were craving Mexican food, and we happened to pick the one day of the month when they do mariachi night! It was a Wednesday if I recall. The band was so much fun, and they were taking requests from all of the tables. It made for a very memorable date night. And despite all the excitement, the service was really quick and attentive. And the food here was delicious! I usually feel so full and gross after a restaurant burrito, but the Burrito Mexicano at El Gran Puerto was a smaller portion and still satisfied my burrito craving. read more

I ordered the choripollo. You also get complimentary chips and salsa as soon as you sit down.

We ordered food to go with no onions and no tomatoes (due to an allergy) and get it home and what do we get onions and tomatoes so we call and they tell us they will give 10% off or we would have to bring it back out tonight to have it remade. We offered to send a pic text showing the issue but that wasn't good enough. read more

Chris D said it well in his review: standard, tasty, inexpensive, but nothing too fabulous. If you're looking for Mexican this will hit the spot. We were driving on 81 and looking for a place to sit down and eat. We stopped here (it's a bit off 81, but not too far) and it was a good dinner. I felt like the fajita portion size was a bit small. It came with 3 tortillas and when I asked for more, they charged me a dollar. Chips and salsa were good. Queso was literally just melted cheese. Nothing special. Overall it was pretty good. If we were in the area, we'd stop again. It looks like nothing from the outside but we went in and it was pretty packed and it was about 1:30pm on a Sunday. read more

We have Been eating here since it opened and it is the best in our area. We get the taco salads or burrito jalicio (sp?). We always carry out but it is small on the inside but they now have patio seating which is nice in the summer. read more

Pretty standard Mexican restaurant, but everything was just a little better than all the others I've seen. It isn't exactly healthy, but its food isn't dripping grease or covered in salt and tastes at least as good as any comparable restaurant. read more

I Frequent this place on Tuesday's for their 99 cent mini margaritas. Outside of having cheap drinks the food is also excellent. As others have mentioned the Burrito Jalisco is a must, particular for those who have a large appetite. The servers who work here are top notch as well. Food may not be the quickest at times , especially during the dinner rush but the the staff is extremely friendly, personable and accommodating. read more

Some of the most frustrating service ever experienced! All male staff treat women customers with total disdain. I thought this sexist behavior was behind us! Even if the food had been decent, the frustration of trying to get a napkin and the check while all around us tables with men were handled with attention is just not worth it. The food WASN"T decent however. The enchilada, the relleno and the taco were indistinguishable. The rellena, especially had NO pepper at all. Won't be back and will definetly tell others to avoid. read more

Standard $10 Mexican restaurant. Nothing super exciting, but good and consistent. I usually get the Chori-Pollo because I have a chorizo problem. The taquitos and Tacos al Pastor are other favorites. Ask for the other salsa and don't bother with the fried ice cream as it's just rice crispy coated vanilla ice cream w/ way to many toppings. All in all, a solid, nearby place that keeps me from cooking for myself. read more

My family loves this place. We are frequent patrons; so much so that our favorite drinks & Queso Fundido are waiting at our booth shortly after we walk in. If you want to try something different, the Tacos al Pastor are great. My mom always orders a burrito Jalisco, which is enormous & always leaves her with leftovers. (Hint: order a side of pico de gallo & dump on top- fantastic.) Great service & prices for a town that otherwise has pretty much nothing other than fast food joints. read more

You never know where you will find great Mexican food! The California burrito is huge. Margaritas are a bit weak. Staff is attentive and friendly. The outdoor seating is nice. read more

Last night my husband and I order from you guys and decided to give you a second chance because honestly the last few times the food has just been horrendous and the customer service, too. We ordered a quesadilla Azteca, chicken quesadilla, 2 chicken burritos, 2 tamale, an order of chips and salsa in addition to what you usually get and an order of guacamole. What we got was the most bland food I have ever had in any Mexican restaurant. You gave us condiment cups full of salsa and half way full of guacamole. Then on top of everything the chicken quesadilla my husband ordered turned out to be a little tiny quesadilla not even a meal. And the filling in my quesadilla Azteca was so salty, it was inedible. Absolutely the last time we step foot in your establishment. No I did not call to complain because I've done that once before and was treated so disrespectfully that I was embarrassed. It's really sad that I spent almost $50 on food that we could hardly eat. I will gladly drive to Waynesboro to Mi Rancho from now on. 3 strikes and you're out. read more

Not bad for Stuarts Draft. This probably wouldn't get four stars in a larger metropolitan area, but for Stuarts Draft, this is a really good restaurant that has good food and very reasonable prices. read more

Great Mexican food for east of the Mississippi! Great service as well. Try the burrito Jalisco.

I just picked up a takeout order and I am totally disgusted with my food and the service. In the first place I ordered a Vegetarian burrito and when I got home and opened the package I found a beef (disgusting) burrito. The cheese sauce was totally bland, Hello it's Mexican! So the only thing I had for dinner was chips and a few french fries all for $15. When I took beck the burrito they gave me the cash for the burrito and a feeble apology but no attempt to make up for my inconvenience. This is the first time I had tried El Gran Puerto in well over a year because I was not impressed with their food the first time I visited. I will never go there again I will make the trip to Waynesboro and go to Plaza Azteca. I can't figure out how El Gran Puerto got a 4 star rating, Never again! read more

I love this place. I literally just saw a server bring out 7 plates on one arm. My food is always on point. We weren't even planning on eating out tonight but it started raining and I lost the will to cook. This place is close to home and delicious. They give you ten percent off if you download their app. If you decide to partake then I suggest the burrito Jalisco. It's not listed on the menu but it's filled with chicken or steak, lettuce, rice and beans and covered in their amazing queso. read more

I love this place. The service is always great, and so is the food. We usually come here for lunch on Sundays and even though it may be crowded, we don't mind because the chips and salsa are on the table as soon as you are seated. The food is fresh, and always as ordered. read more

The menu is basic Mexican, so don't expect any of the fancy dishes you would expect at a bigger restaurant. But the food is really good and in good portions, and the service is great. Biggest problem is getting in during peak times. Iced tea and lemonade are instant. read more

My friends and I had a very disappointing experience. Long time to be seated in spite of few customers and early arrival. The combination plate was so bad that everything tasted the same! I was worried when our waiter didn't bother to ask if we wanted chicken, beef or pork. He just brought evrything beef. Couldn't get the waiters attention for basic items like a setup or refill or check. Repeated requests for the check were not even acknowledged. We won't be going back. read more
