My favorite local taco shop with my fav horchata and surf & turf burrito!!! (Note this review is for their taco/burrito storefront with "La Taqueria" sign up top; they own the El Frutal dessert storefront for churros and desserts a few stores down) Not only is it next to my gym so I am always lured in when I am at max hunger, but this place deserves 4.5 stars from me for being the most consistent spot when I need a bit + 0.5 stars just for having friendly people working at the counter. Basically all the tacos are delicious, but their lengua tacos in particular are super tender. Recently I discovered my love for their surf and turf burrito--a magical carne asada x fried shrimp burrito ($11) with the works melded with sour cream. It literally doesn't need any salsa, but definitely ask if you want some (they don't keep a salsa bar out like most places so you have to request it!). You can order everything ahead via phone for takeout or just opt to sit in the few indoor and 2 outdoor tables they have. Ugh I don't even mind they are a few dollars more than other taco trucks and such in the area ($3.25 for tacos) because they have a consistent storefront and are always there when I need them lol. They also have one of the most solid horchatas. They make their drinks fresh every 2 days, and its one of the things worth picking up each time. It only makes me sad because they are only open until 8pm everyday--disappointing when I need my late night fix, but understand they need their rest too. Definitely worth trying! read more

Drove here today (February 14, 2026) and noticed that they were closed. No signs on the door about renovation so it seems like they are closed permanently. All furniture inside has been removed. read more

I've been coming here for years. Food is really good and they are fairly quick with their service. However the crappy service from the young lady at the resister lowers their score. She always looks like she's in a bad mood, she's short with you when taking orders and God forbid you call her out for taking your order wrong or you'll get an even worse attitude. She should really go get another job that doesn't require customer service. read more

First time so I tried a few things, quesabirra taco , fish and shrimp taco, adobada sope and a carnitas burrito. Great flavor and tender on the quesabirra. The slaw on the fish and shrimp taco blends all the flavors together nicely. Fresh sope with a little pineapple nice touch. Cannot beat homemade flour and corn tortillas. read more

Honestly some of the best shrimp and fish tacos I've had in California. My brother got the pastor vampiros and they were also delicious. The shrimp taco tastes super authentic and reminds me of the tacos I get in Baja and the tortillas are delicious. 10/10 and the cashier was super sweet! read more

I look forward to returning here and trying something new each time. Service is quick and the food is delicious! A must try!

Came here at 240 pm, walked in and was not greeted by the young cashier, I walked up to the register and she's on her AirPod following up on what I assume is a personal appt bc she's giving them a date of birth with name and I'm standing there looking at the menu and waiting on her and she's staring at me which I was confused bc she was standing there talking on the phone so I asked about an item on the menu and I literally could not hear not one thing she hardly even spoke above a whisper looks like she hates it there and when she continued her call she was speaking clearly and at a good level but with me it was a whisper like I felt uncomfortable and felt like I just needed to order without asking any questions just ordered tacos. And called it a day but the tacos were delicious!! Wish the customer service matched ! read more

I've been coming to El Frutal for years, since I was a kid, but it's a bad experience now. The short girl working there, probably in her 20's , has the worst attitude. She looks like she's mad you even walked in the door and acts like serving you is a huge inconvenience. She's complaining about being overworked, but that's no excuse for terrible customer service. Honestly, it's gotten to the point where the whole vibe is ruined. Until they fix the service, this place is not worth it anymore, and it's definitely not as good as it used to be. The burrito was a bit dry and really needs better salsa to bring it to life. read more

Great customer service! Asked for a churro banana split and was told that it's either banana split or churro split so I picked churro split. When I got my order they actually gave me the churro and bananas. Everything was great quality! read more

Great service from the young lady at the register. Food was great too, I personally am an Adobada fan in general so maybe it's a bit biased to say theirs was great. But both meats were so good and I definitely recommend their green salsa. Not crazy spicy but flavor is there and that's a great combination. It wasn't very busy when I came in. About 3 people came in and out while I sat down and ate. Music playlist was actually nice, older good banda music.

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now and that day--luckily I was craving a mangonada. I did get confused a little because they have another place within the same area that only sells food. If you walk down a little, you'll find the ice cream store. The mangonada itself, I would probably give it a 4/5. It looked very pretty and appetizing yes, but it was hard to eat. I was happy to see that it was super full, but when it came down to eating it my chamoy went everywhere but in my belly lol. It also had a good chunk of sherbet which I wished there was more mango pieces. All in all, I thought it was good. I would definitely go back to try other things. Thanks El Frutal! read more

Got a mango smoothie, fish taco, and a quesabirria from here. Solid spot and the staff were very friendly. See my ratings below: Ambiance: 3/5 - Nothing special about the decor. There were a lot of people there so the atmosphere was definitely lively. Price: 4.3/5 - The smoothie was a bit expensive I felt based on quality (see below), but the tacos and quessabirria ($5) felt reasonable. Food: 4.5/5 - All the tortillas are homemade and fresh. You can taste the freshness especially when I had the fish taco. Felt that taco specifically was fresh and the ingredients worked so well together. The mango smoothie left a lot to be desired as it didn't really taste like mango. The quesabirria was solid, but I felt it lacked a bit of the seasoning/flavor that I usually get from birria tacos. Service: 5/5 - The staff were all very friendly and helpful when providing recommendations. Great interactions with them! read more

Literally best fish tacos in Stockton! They are my favorite item on the menu. I love that you get to choose between corn and flour because most establishments only give you corn as an option. Their flour tortillas are superb- you can definitely tell they were homemade with love. Every topping on the taco is well thought out and complementary to each other. I asked for extra hot salsa and jalapeños and carrots on the side, and they were great additions as well if you are a fan of spice. The quality of the ingredients justify the fact that the prices per taco are a little on the higher side. I don't mind paying a little extra than average because the fish tacos are literally that amazing. I ordered ahead through their website and received a 10% discount for creating a VIP profile with them. My order was complete in 10 min which was really nice and the customer service was fast and friendly. The establishment was extremely clean as well. This has definitely become one of my fav taco spots! read more

Ordered 3 asada tacos, 1 birria taco and 2 shrimp tacos with flour tortilla. Their flour tortilla is Home made and I also had one taco with their corn tortilla and that was bomb as well, their corn tortilla is very soft and fluffy compared to their flour tortilla. Also ordered a adobada sope which was good and freshly made and also got the gringa also adobada and hat was good as well, too much cheese for my liking but nonetheless delicious. Their cucumber lime drink was bomb ass well, now I know why it's their popular drink. Service was very friendly and fast as well! After eating here walked a couple stores down into their paleteria. So many choices to choose from from drinks to churro sundaes. Ordered just a scoop of strawberry cheesecake ice cream and their single scoop is like a double! It was so good!! Also tried their banana chocolate flavor and that was yummy as well. Ordered a churro sundae as well and it was a good amount and so cheap compared to other places and delicious ! Next time I will try out their drinks since those look so refreshing ! They have great service here as well! read more

I got burritos for National Burrito Day on 4/6, they were great. I ordered two kinds: the steak burrito with everything, and a bean & cheese burrito. My son, who got the steak, said it was one of best burritos he's eaten. He didn't give me details on the taste though, just "It's really good, Dad." But mine, the bean & cheese was awesome! Some burritos can be a bit bland but not mine. And like my son's opinion on his burrito, one of best he's eaten, this bean and cheese was one of the best I've eaten. Let's start with the well seasoned & soft, whole pinto beans which held up well within the burrito--not spilling out while the burrito falls apart. No refried beans. The cheese was what kept the beans from falling out & kept the burrito intact. The seasoning? Just enough spice to add kick to the burrito, but not so much that it doesn't numb your lips & it's all you think about. My burrito was good I wanted to go back and get another one, but I was able to resist the temptation. But soon I'll be back for another bean & cheese! read more

Good food. The tortillas are really good which helps bring everything else together. They need to figure out their delivery options because it's been changing a lot and sometimes it seems unavailable altogether. Then when there's a problem with the delivery they have no way to take care of that unless you go drive all the way to their store then explain it in person. They don't have any delivery options for their desert counter part store. They always send texts to try to entice ordering something, but it's annoying because every other place would at least text you a deal once in a while and not just like, "hey you're missing out! Order today!". Overall I really recommend this place, but there are some small things that just get a little annoying and I feel like it would be an easy fix for them. read more

I have gone to this establishment multiple times and have had a great overall experience. Although this past time I went I ordered something very simple. 4 asada tacos, ONLY cheese and salsa on them due to allergies with cilantro. My order was verified by Aolani at the register. When I received my order it had a ton of onions/cilantro. I brought this up to her and she said "well you should've specified you didn't want this on it" I then said "I did when I said I ONLY want this on it and nothing else" she then said "ok well whatever" and had an attitude for the remainder of the discussion. I felt this was very uncalled for since I was only brining to their attention that my order was incorrect. The manager offered to remake to order which they did but it was also incorrect. It is not hard to follow simple instructions. Just follow what the customer asks for on their food they paid for. It also probably didn't help that the person at the register was on their phone the whole time. I enjoyed this place but due to their horrible customer service and lack of attention to detail myself and my family will no longer return to this establishment. read more

There were quite a few problems with this place. 1. I know it's a mexican dessert place but it was difficult to navigate if you're not familiar with the place or mexican desserts. The whole menu was in Spanish and we had to look up pictures of the items to see what was in it. There were also no labels saying what the ice cream flavors were 2. We ordered a crepe and ice cream and the crepe was just way overpriced for what it was but the ice cream was good (I'd say a 4/5 for the ice cream) 3. The crepe wasn't a crepe at all. It was a pancake. They literally just used pancake batter. 4. It took forever to get our order. Around about 30 minutes (but we were told it would only take 10 minutes). A bunch of people who ordered food after us were served before us. It felt like they forgot about out order. read more
