Churros! Was in Mexicali for one day and had these based on my mom having to come out and try them. This is one of her stops when she comes visits family.
The stand is a food truck set up. No chairs or tables and you wait in line on the sidewalk.
The churros were, as expected delicious. They were warm, crunchy and soft at the same time. They tasted fresh without that exhaust like flavor that you get when buying churros at the border crossing. I may have wanted a but more of the sugar/cinnamon mixture, but you can ask for extra in your bag.
Now the champurrado was something you have to try out. It was cold that night and since every other customer was getting some I figured I would also try it. I got the large cup and low and behold, I barely got a sip. The kids passed it around and they love it. This is a must try, especially on those cold Mexicali nights.
One of the better churros you will get in the area. read more
