Review Visit: August 8th, 2016…read more This castle has a moat of ice cream, corn dogs and deliciousness. I kid. There is actually no moat of ice cream, corn dogs and deliciousness, but there is a counter where you can order some of those. After driving past Kastle Kreme a few times on my way to Iowa, I finally made a conscientious effort to stop and try their ice cream. I do love me some ice cream shacks. Boy, what a yummy stop it was. From what I could tell, you can only walk up and order food. Which is fine, as other ice cream shacks I have been to are similar. For the size of the building, it's kind of odd that there isn't an indoor area, unless I am mistaken. It's about the size of a small business building, if that makes sense. If I can, I will update this blog to reflect any updates I find out about the place. I ended up ordering a simple ice cream cone. For the life of me, I don't remember the flavor (probably swirl), even after looking over the menu and my photos. I do remember enjoying the ice cream and thinking how I wish I could get some closer to my home. You really can't go wrong with most ice cream shacks. Also, you really can't screw up ice cream. Looking over their menu, it seems they offer your usual ice cream shack food offerings. Hot dogs, tenderloins, chicken tenders. Your usual lunch or dinner offerings. I didn't try any of those but they sound yummy. I will have to try some food next time. It's not too often I drive to and/or through Galesburg, so who knows when I will get back to the Kastle. I am hoping to revisit it next summer to try their other offerings as I love a good tenderloin and ice cream cone. When I do, I will update this blog accordingly.

Delicious ice cream, quick service, a bit pricey but everything else has gone up too. Seating…read moreoutside

My family and I have ordered several times from Flavor Freeze and there seems to be a reoccurring…read moretheme...the unfriendliness of the staff. This particular instance I was asked half way through my order if I was using the Gold card discount. I replied that "yes, I was" of which then the lady told me that "you are supposed to tell us that before you order." First of all, it doesn't say on the coupon to notify them if you are using the coupon or not, so I'm not sure how I am supposed to know to tell them before I placed the order and secondly, it wasn't like I was paying over the phone to indicate the need to inform them of my coupon at that precise second. It wasn't a huge deal, but it's an accummulation of small customer service infractions over time that have led me to writing this comment. I will give them credit where credit is due, they do have really good food, however, their unfriendly attitude toward there customers always gets under my skin a bit. It's only after the unfriendly memory fades that we think to give them another chance. We would definately visit them a lot more frequently if the sour taste of poor customer service didn't linger on so long. I do recommend you try their food, but prepare yourself for a not so friendly experience. I hope they are open minded enough to learn some better custome service techniques and make there customers feel a little more special. James M.

The staff is always knowledgeable and friendly and the atmosphere is awesome. The interior dining area is limited, so call ahead for a spot! But once there you can look at the historic local photographs on the walls, appreciate the ornate metal ceiling, and watch the chef prepare the amazing crepes via a well positioned mirror over the cooking surface. The crepes, whether savory or dessert, never disappoint. There are many wonderful fresh ground coffees to choose from, their aroma greet you as you come in the front door. But my favorite experience at Landmark is to dine outside on the beautiful, secluded patio. We usually go for a crepe, but this time I had the Wagyu beef meatloaf sandwich. Juicy and delicious! And I never stop in without getting the spinach bisque (you can get a cup, but I always get a bowl). It is so rich and creamy and exactly as I remember it from, well, back in the day. Highly recommend!

The are known for their savory quiche and crepes as well as their delicious ice cream filled dessert crepes, ordering the Spinach Bisque is a MUST! While a cup may be fine for some, I always insist on a bowl of the creamy, buttery bisque. Recently for lunch, I chose their Wagyu Meatloaf Sandwich, paired with spicy ketchup, provolone and crispy onion strings on a grilled artisan white bun. The side of Mayo aoli is a great topping too! Sitting inside and watching the chefs prepare the crepes is a delight, but a beautiful afternoon calls for a relaxing meal on their ivy lined patio! It is so cute and gives such great small town peaceful vibes. Highly recommend; but you may need to call ahead for reservations.
