As frequent guests of El Dorado Frontier, it was never a question where we'd celebrate our daughter's birthday. She's obsessed with trains and in her full cowgirl era, so this place was absolutely perfect for her 3rd birthday. With the crazy weather we've had recently, this worried mama was a bundle of nerves thinking we were going to get rained out. But Jeff... wow. He went above and beyond. Even though the park was technically closed, he monitored the rain for us, kept checking on "The Blue House," took our calls, and genuinely tried to ease my stress. For that alone, THANK YOU. On the big day (11/22), Jeff even let us arrive earlier than usual to set up. And of course... it sprinkled! He immediately ran over to our area to make sure we were okay, to check if we needed to move anything, and to reassure us that things were still a go. Again... THANK YOU. Thankfully, the rain passed quickly and everything went smoothly afterward. Our guests absolutely fell in love with the place. And because I've read some of the other reviews, I want to clarify a couple of things: * Yes, it can be tricky to find, but that's not El Dorado Frontier's fault. They're private owners operating inside a public park. * This is a small, family-owned location. We've been coming here for 2.5 years, and we've watched them grow. You simply can't compare a year-round, family-run attraction to a one-month seasonal pop-up in a parking lot. Completely different worlds. We genuinely love this place, but more importantly... our daughter loves it. The staff is kind, patient, and truly invested in making moments special. Zero stars if possible for the Christmas Winter wonderland. Don't waste your time. We tried TWICE to take our son to ride the Christmas train. First time we went in the late afternoon hoping to stay till the lights came on, and it was completely dead. The little rides were very expensive and only lasted 2 minutes average. We asked if we could save the rest of the tickets to ride the train at night since we were not aware that they closed in between, and also charged a SEPARATE entrance fee. They told us yes, we can come back any time and the tickets are good for a year. We come back a couple days later for the night time one, it's 5pm and NO ONE is in the park. They told us that our tickets were not eligible for the train ride at night. What??! After their own employee told us to come back later, they now deny us use of these tickets, totally ruined our night made our son cry. Shame on you!! And the excuse for not being eligible for the train ride, that it was sold out. Total BS because literally again NO ONE was in the park. No wonder the event is failing. read more

We had such a great family day at El Dorado Frontier in Long Beach! It's tucked inside the park, but once you're in, there's so much to do -- totally worth the visit. My girls' favorite was Panning for Goldie's Treasures -- it was only $12 for 6 tickets, and they spent the most time there, searching for gold and little gems The staff was incredibly friendly and patient, answering every question with a smile. if you're looking for a fun escape from the city, this is the best outdoor space in long beach hands down. such a cool nature getaway, into a western world. always a lively vibe, lots to do + discover & i always make the best memories with my family when im here. the staff is always kind + welcoming. i really enjoy taking my siblings here and seeing them smile on all of the exciting attractions. the gem hunt was my favorite of course besides the train, which is really rare to come by these days. i learned that you can rent party spaces here as well, and booked my baby shower here for the summer. i'm really excited to have my friends and family gather here, takes a lot of my stress away. thank you el dorado frontier for your hospitality! read more

Smaller than expected. Came by in December for the holiday event they put on. It was nice but a bit pricier than I expected? I was under the impression entrance was free but I was mistaken, during special events there is an entrance fee for all; even those under 1yr old. There are ticket packages available aside from the entrance fee in order to ride the attractions or use the bounce houses. All in all it was a cute event and my toddlers had a lot of fun. There are snack options throughout the park as well and their staff was amicable. I'd return to visit under normal operation hours where entrance is free. read more

Quick tip: buy your tickets online to skip the line. It costs $8 to enter the park, then $7 to enter the event. $25 for 10 tickets or you can buy the admission package and get some of the rides covered. I recommend buying the admission package and not just the admission ticket alone. You need tickets for everything, so the money will add up! If your kid loves to play, I recommend just going to Tanaka Farms or another big pumpkin patch event for the price you pay here. The line for the train can get long. When we were there, it was an hour & a half wait. Otherwise, the workers here are pretty nice! It gets crowded in the evening. Lots of parking. And the park itself is really nice. read more

I have been to el dorado frontier twice. Once for a 2 yo bday party and the second time for the pumpkin patch. While I gave the venue 4 stars overall, I will breakdown by review for my two visits. 1st visit El dorado frontier birthday party: 5 stars. The first visit was for a 2 yo bday party was excellent. We were guests at the party and the parents of the 2 yo reserved one of the little houses and provided guests with unlimited ride bracelets. The venue allows outside caterers for bday parties which is a plus. The frontier itself is small but really cute. The day we went it was not too crowded which made getting on the train and other rides relatively quick. The bday party was excellent. 2nd visit Pumpkin patch: 3 stars. My family went to the pumpkin patch this weekend. I will start off by saying that my 3 yo daughter loved it. When we arrived there was a huge line. In order to avoid the line we bought tix online and paid a $2 charge per item. Once we were inside it was quite crowded. As others have mentioned there was a huge line for food and for the train ride. We skipped both of these due to line. The line for the carousel, gold panning, jump houses, and obstacle course was short and quick. The large slide line was pretty quick too but after 5pm it started to get long. We got my daughter the vip unlimited pass which she used all day long. Some things I liked about this patch was that it was toddler friendly, all the rides can be enjoyed by toddlers 2 and older. My daughter and her cousins had a lot of fun w the unlimited rides. I did like the seasonal decor at the patch and the digital family photo. Things that could be better: the food cart ran out of food at one point and had to close for about an hour. Also, the food options are very limited. Additionally, the family photo was supposed to be printed but the printer wasn't working. They tried to make up for it by proving 2 digital photos instead of 1 printed photo. As others mentioned having timed tickets for the train ride or a system of managing the line would really help, people spent a long time in line to ride the train. The patch seems to be geared more towards toddlers and young children 10 years and under. The staff could do a better job at enforcing age limits at the jump houses. There was supposed to be a little kids jump House and a big kids jump houses but not too much enforcement on age limit by the staff. They make you sign a waiver for the jump House is likely why they are not carefully controlling that a 2 yo isn't jumping dangerously close to a 10 yo. I did notice some younger toddlers crying from accidents while jumping. I would be ok returning for the regular el dorado frontier when it's not too crowded, but I probably will not return for the patch. read more

Delightful little amusement park that is great for toddlers. It's actually a great first step to introducing amusement parks to little ones. It's small in size compared to the big parks in SoCal but not too overwhelming like the larger ones can be. Also, another bonus is that it's not crowded. Kids can run around and have fun without the worry of getting lost. The train ride is the main attraction and a fun ride. Don't let the look of the carousel deter you from it. It's quite an enjoyable ride. There are also a bounce house and panning for gold station. Pretty nice park for little ones, and the DJ person is awesome! I've been to the pawfest Halloween and Christmas events. The Halloween event was hands down the best. Honestly the Christmas event was a huge let down for the price of the tickets. The Halloween event was packed with vendors, photo ops, and food booths. The Christmas event had like 3 vendors, one food booth, and hardly any photo ops. The santa photo op was an hour wait and the santa was SO grumpy! He told both of our dogs to calm down even though they were being so good and sitting right next to him????? Definitely shouldn't be working at a dog event if he didn't like dogs. The train ride was awful as the sprinklers went on and soaked us on an already freezing night. The train conducted said the city promised no sprinklers but there was nothing they could do about it. For $30 tickets per person I expected a lot more out of the Christmas event. read more

This is advertised as an amusement park but it's essentially a tiny carnival because each ride is paid for with tickets and there is no form of entertainment outside of the ticketed rides. And of course the tickets are sold in bundles and the rides are ticketed at awkward amounts so you're not able to use up all your tickets. The train ride wasn't too short but I could have done without the loud audio that was playing, it took away from enjoying the scenery. I also noticed that the only bathrooms available are portable toilets, with what they charge I would have expected more. Left feeling scammed, will definitely not be returning. read more

Review for the pumpkin patch el dorado; It's located deep inside the wilderness park with very limited parking -- we had to walk about a quarter mile just to get to the entrance. There were very few actual pumpkins, nothing like a true pumpkin patch. Very few actual pumpkins compared to what you'd expect from a real pumpkin patch. With two kids under 4, every ride we went on allowed parents to accompany their children without tickets -- until the train ride. The train worker accused me of "cheating" for not having tickets, even though none of the other rides required them. I still purchased more tickets, but his attitude made the experience unpleasant. The line for the train took about an hour, and the ride itself lasted maybe 10 minutes with barely any Halloween decorations along the route. Between the $7 parking fee, $7 admission per adult, $60 for 25 tickets, and another $25 for 10 more (just for the train), the costs add up quickly for very little value. Food options were also disappointing -- only hot dogs, nachos, and popcorn, and they had already run out of nachos by 4 PM. It took about 30 minutes just to get food. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this pumpkin patch. Pa's Pumpkin Patch offers a much better experience -- free parking, multiple food and drink options, tons of pumpkins, and plenty of photo opportunities for families read more

The pumpkin patch that they are hosting here is incredibly... not well thought out. 1. It's strictly for young children, probably under 10. Which is fine, but not public knowledge. 2. Overpriced pumpkins you can buy at the grocery store (same brand and all) for half the price. 3. Tickets, bundles, food, incredibly overpriced. Only food they have is nachos and hot dogs for $8/$7. 4. Longgggg wait time for the train. They either need to make the train ride shorter, or do a limited amount of ticket reservations per hour. 5. We had the best experience at The Frontier at El Dorado Park for my daughter's 5th birthday! From the start, Jeff was incredible -- super responsive and helpful throughout the whole booking process for the Blue House. We had about 75 guests, and everything ran so smoothly. Check-in was easy with wristbands, the area was clean and spacious, and setting up our own cake, drinks, and taco man was no problem at all. The park itself was a blast -- we went in October when the pumpkin patch was open, and all the rides were working. Even though it was busy, everything went perfectly. We got so many compliments from our guests, and I can't thank Jeff enough for making the day so special. Highly recommend hosting your next event here -- it was amazing! read more

We celebrated our son's 7th birthday here yesterday, and I couldn't have thought of a more perfect place. It was a huge hit! We rented the Blue House for 75 guests, and the transaction and coordination went smoothly with Jeff, the owner. He was so easy to deal with--always prompt in replying to my inquiries via text. Very kind and considerate. It's important to communicate your plans with him to avoid any issues during the event. I hired a caricature artist, plushie-making station, and even organized a piñata game at the back tree, all without any issues, as everything was well-communicated with him. I also decorated the venue with balloons, which added to the charm of this already beautiful space. This location is perfect, as it's not crowded even on weekends. It comes with a carousel, train ride, bouncy house, and, every kid's favorite, gem treasure panning. They allowed us to set up one hour before opening. The only minor downside is that there is only a portable toilet inside the theme park. However, it was clean and did not smell. If you need a full restroom, you'll have to walk about 5-10 minutes outside the park. Overall, the service was excellent, the venue was perfect, and the price was reasonable. This is for the pumpkin patch Oct. 2025 1. The promotional flyer this was advertised on did not indicate parking fee or that you have to buy tickets in advance online 2. There are no signs anywhere directing you anywhere to the event. People were asking us where to go while we were also lost. The parking attendant gave us the wrong directions as well. By the way it is in Area 3 if you are also lost and never been to this park before. 3. When finally finding the pumpkin patch with no directions there was two lines, none of which are labeled. Both wrapping around the pumpkin patch - you can't just pay to walk in. You have to wait for families to leave to go in. Picked way too small of a space for a pumpkin patch with this much demand when you have this whole huge park available. Good luck with parking, by the way. And then back to the unlabeled lines - one is prepaid tickets online (which was not indicated on the flyer and the other was to purchase tickets at the door). Make sure to ask the attendant which is which since it is unlabeled and no one is directing the crowds. 4. All attendants were rude and short with us for our questions on where to go and purchase tickets. Please see flyer above for 0 indication of parking or website or purchasing tickets in advance. 5. If you like to pay for no crowds, this is the place. $8 for parking. $18 per person unless your baby is under a year old. Only 3 rides. These are unlimited and it's enough for the space. Carousel, train, and little hand push train thing. Train ride was so good and then so bad . My kids both got bored. But it was a good 12-15 min ride and it would constantly go. Then there's $10 to pan for treasures. It's enough for two kids to share which they allowed and the only reason I was ok with paying more. They have a little stand to buy snacks. Two port-a-potties. No changing station. No military discount which is ok but always a nice perk if they did. My suggestion is to use the money for 2 changing stations. I know they have been fighting the city to make this place safe. The owner and all the staff are very nice! The decor they have is great. Enough opportunities for photos. My kids had fun! read more

Very expensive; we explored for the first time today. $9 entrance into the park itself on a weekend. Then admission to the frontier Theme park is $5 per person. We bought the $59 for 25 ticket package. Had enough tickets to do only 3 rides. Kids did the bounce house at 4 tickets per person Kids did the carousel ride at 2 tickets per kid Family of 4 did the train ride at 3 tickets per person, We only stayed one hour in the theme park. Not much to do inside. Bounce house allows you to jump for 15 minutes. Parking in the lot nearby is limited, we fortunately found one. Don't think we'll be back. read more

Wow! Just wow. My husband's coworkers couldn't stop raving about this place, so he decided to take us. Normally, I'm the planner in the family, and for years, we've gone to Fashion Island for our annual Santa photos. This year, with our kids now 6 and 4, and after moving to LA County, it felt a bit too far to make the trip. I agreed to mix things up and combine Santa photos with the train ride here--and I'm so glad I did. Santa Jeff completely exceeded our expectations and warmed my heart. For just $15 (and I don't think it's even required since they're happy to use your camera or phone for photos), you get a private visit with Santa. But it's not just about the photos--Santa Jeff was amazing. He took his time, wasn't rushed, and was genuinely interested (or at least *seemed* to be!) in talking to my kids about their hopes and dreams for the holiday season. Honestly, it could've been about anything, and he was all ears, fully engaged with them. I couldn't have asked for a better Santa. He looked the part so much that my kids confidently declared, "You are the real Santa! We had one of your workers visit our school today"--essentially calling the other Santa an imposter. The kids were beyond thrilled, and their joy was priceless. Thank YOU, Santa Jeff! The train ride was such a fun experience, and the carousel was a hit with both kids. The operator went above and beyond with my son, who is neurodivergent. His care and compassion did not go unnoticed and meant so much to us. To top it all off, the DJ at the Firefly Dance Stage was incredibly kind and even let us choose a song to play. Every moment felt magical, from start to finish. We will absolutely be back next year, and we sincerely hope to see Santa Jeff again for many years to come. If you're considering a visit, stop thinking about it and just go. Went for the winter wonderland train and drove over an hour just for the young lady at the front to have an attitude and say they are "sold out" of train tickets but I visually can see empty seats on the train as it operates. A clear and obvious money grab. The "unlimited rides" wristband was literally pointless. They made us use tickets for every single thing (slide, fun house, panning for gold, and the train) and said they weren't included with the wristband. All workers clearly don't care at all and act bothered by any request from a customer. STRONGLY recommend AGAINST throwing your money away to these leeches. I had my baby's first birthday at El Dorado Frontier, and from the very beginning, the owner and Tania had amazing communication with me. All handled smoothly via email. The prices are very reasonable for everything you and ALL your guests get to enjoy: 1. Peace of mind 2. Beautiful atmosphere 3. Kids having fun = happy parents 4. Flexibility with vendors The only "negatives" I'd mention are: * The restroom situation (some guests had to use the regular park restrooms across the street) * The park closes at 5 p.m., and I wish we had more time to enjoy it.
