Affordable Latin American eats…read more While not my favorite place to order tacos and pupusas, this joint won't rock the bank like some of the other places I ate. This place is frequented by construction and other blue color workers, so you know it's gotta be bussin for the value. I ordered a variety of different tacos; pollo, asada, Al pastor, lingua and loroco pupusa. The chicken is very bland, the safe option for people with low spice tolerance. The other meats have decent flavor but tend to be on the dry and chewy side. The pupusas are lovely and I always enjoy watching them assemble and fry on the griddle. The cortido is a nice crunch and if you want other options, they have a salsa bar to tack on more. The staff speak Spanish and will try to explain what an item is, but it's best to study before hand. They're really nice and patient and will try to describe something if you didn't prepare ;) Easy lunch and quick dinner option.

Parking could go either way, I would assume better during off lunch, early dinner hours. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and to my surprise, the menu is extensive! Wow. We opted for ASADA tacos and Revueltas Pupusas. They serve beer. If you eat in, there a bar for toppings. It was very, very good. We enjoyed both options and if around, I would definitely go back. Small, quiet and good.

We ordered two taco platters, loaded with an incredible lineup: Cachete -- Pork Cheek Barbacoa -- Braised Beef Carnitas -- Pork Buche -- Pork Stomach Chorizo -- Mexican Sausage Lengua -- Beef Tongue Both platters came with rice and beans, and everything was packed with authentic flavor. The lengua was exactly what I was looking for--tender, flavorful, and absolutely worth the search. The cachete and barbacoa were equally impressive, while the carnitas, buche, and chorizo rounded out an outstanding taco lineup. And of course, a large horchata to complete the experience. Esmeralda Grill delivers the kind of Mexican food that makes you stop and appreciate every bite. Authentic flavors, generous portions, and a menu that gives you plenty of reasons to come back. Definitely one of the best Mexican joints in Cary--and easily my favorite find in town. 5 stars without hesitation.

I ordered the crispy shredded beef with cheese arepa with the cilantro sauce and the chilled chicken avocado snack with chips. The shredded beef was very tender and flavorful, I tried it w/out and with the cilantro sauce, both bites were great; the price is not half bad being under six dollars. The chill chicken avocado snack with chips is another great option if you want something light. The mixture was very light and creamy. The chips were ok, they didn't have any seasoning, not sure if I got a bad batch or if they don't season the chips. If anyone goes before I visit again please let me know. I don't necessarily need the chips. The price for the snack is also under six dollars too. Guasaca has three locations in Raleigh (Lake BooneTrail, Spring Forest Rd and Hillsborough St.), I went to the Lake Boone location because that was the location I visited many years ago. This is a place I will be visiting again, I may try another location and I hope to have the same quality of food. Happy Eating!

The owner is frequently around and he is just as kind and accommodating. It almost feels like you're a guest in a Latin home! Comida For me, the pupusas are so good! They are grilled and non-greasy (which is a plus for me, that's how my mom makes them). They are full of flavor and balance crunch with soft/chewy quite well. The curtido (the pickled cabbage) is also done well and when combined with the salsita, they enhance the guanaco wonderbread. I also usually get the platanos fritos con frijoles y crema. Just one of the dishes that takes me back to Guatemala. Sumación Whenever I am introducing people to pupusas (which is unfortunately more than it should be) or when we have a larger group, we are going to LCDMG!

The service was just as impressive. The staff was warm, attentive, and made the whole dining experience feel extra special. Honestly, I've only had a few other things at Mar y Sol and they were all good, but if they only had the papusas, I would keep going back. I am generally excited when I'm the only English speaker at a Latin American restaurant - those tend to be the most worth going to and I'm willing to put up with my occasionally awkward communications with the staff at Mar y Sol if it means a big pile of delicious, cheap papusas!
