This bar is different in that the drink prices fluctuate depending on demand. The price can be seen on large flatscreens similar to the stock market (of London with its Footsie 100 index). I visited Point Rouge tonight with three friends: two of us were British and two were American. The food and wine were both delicious, beautiful, and beyond reproach. However, the service failed to meet the standards the kitchen had established. Although the restaurant was far from full on a Monday night, we consistently waited much longer than every other table for every course, every glass of water, and every drop of wine. Determined to enjoy ourselves anyway, we watched several tables order crêpes Suzette, which were prepared tableside with great pageantry (several diners videoed the preduction), so we ordered them, too. But we were the only table who had our crêpes delivered cold without the tableside drama. I took one frosty bite and retired my fork, and when the waiter asked if there was something wrong with my crêpes, I told him I was disappointed not to have had them prepared tableside. He laughed and took my plate away. We were all charged full price anyway, and I might just mention here that the bill for four of us totaled €288. I am very sorry not to be able to recommend a restaurant with such wonderful food, but of course inferior service can destroy any meal. I cannot prove that the service we received was related that we weren't French, but by the time we left, it certainly felt that way. I might also mention that the toilets are quite...unusual. The doors are clear glass until you enter and lock the door, when they become opaque. However, there is no sign or other indicator that this will happen, so it looks for all the world as though you will be using the toilet in full view of everyone who walks by. I found this to be a very odd, almost cruel, décor decision.

Many things sounded nice. We ordered the Grilled Sea Bream and the Whole Sea Bass. These were recommended. When the meals arrived, again we didn't know what to expect. My sea bass had to be undressed (deboned). The waitress took care of that. She removed 2 beautiful felets with no bones and served it up. From the very first bite, each one of us commented how good our meals were. When I finally had a taste of my fish, OMG. What flavor. It was perfect. Tender, flaky, white fish. The red rice was a nice compliment that I have never had before. This was excellent. As we ate and drank, we enjoyed the awesome atmosphere. People from all over, talking and having a good time. Horrible service with poor tasting and unreliable food…read more Our waiter never came over once during our meal, and we had to get up to find him to ask for water at one point and the check. We ordered the grilled octopus, which after one bite tasted like rubber. When it was sent back the waiter was polite and said "no problem, we will take care of it". Then the check showed up with a charge for the dish, and the manager came over and in a condescending way said that the octopus was cooked right and 15 other customers liked it so we must not know what octopus should taste like and we must pay for it. He was rude and obnoxious and treats patrons like dirt. If you don't enjoy people smoking next to you while you eat then you cannot sit in the back garden, as all tables are a "smoking zone". Other dishes we ordered, the homemade gnocchi was the only delicious dish. The vitello tonnato was tasteless and bland, and the homemade focaccia was nothing special. I would STAY AWAY! DON'T go here unless you want to be charged for low quality food and disrespectful poor service.
